We had a wonderful three week stay, the accommodation was exactly as advertised and more.. Our hosts Pip and Alec were very friendly, helpful and in-fact Pip was like a fairy godmother helping with our washing. Nothing was too much trouble for them. On our last morning Pip made us a lovely big breakfast to send us on our travels, lovely gesture. In addition, the village is lovely for walks, the pub is great too which we can highly recommend and You can get the best coffee at the local Post Office, Also a must, which came recommended, visit Elaines Tea Room for lovely meals and cakes and The Court Yard for its award winning cheeses. We can’t fault the place. We will definitely be returning for a short break, it would be rude not too. See you soo Pip and Alec x

Very comfortable place to stay and ideal location.. The owners were very helpful. The noise from the fridge turning on may be a nuisance to light sleepers but it wasn't much of a problem for us. Small point, could do with another saucepan (only one there) if you were going to do a lot of self-catering. Really a great place to stay if you are aiming to eat out most of the time. We would certainly stay there again.

Hi this was a lovely, bespoke studio with well thought out features and fittings and very friendly, helpful owners.. I wouldn't book it again due to the fact I am a very light sleeper and the storage heaters resulted in the fridge being very noisy at night as it tried to maintain it's temperature and the meter in the kitchen cupboard emitting a very loud 'clunk' every few seconds! The storage heaters made it quite difficult to control the temperature too. A real shame as the area has a couple of nice walks, useful local amenities including a gastro pub which served delicious and inexpensive fare. It's also just 90 mins drive to The Lakes.

Lovely spot in a lovely village with very friendly hosts.. Nothing was any bother for them and went out of their way to make us welcome. One niggle was the noise the fridge made on a night, but easily resolved, turn it off until the morning ! Ha ha ! Very pleased.

Liked the cosiness of everything being in one room. The weather was sunny but freezing and The Friendly Room was a delight to come home to and find warm and welcoming. It was a lovely break for four nights and just what we needed.

The Friendly Room is a studio apartment of above average quality well suited for a couple. The interior is quite modern with plenty of light and room. The location is just off the main road through the village, but as the village is itself off the a65, it remains pretty quiet all the time. Austwick is well situated for walks in Three Peaks country either straight from the cottage, or as a base for other places such as Settle, Horton, Clapham, and Ingleton. There is a pub and general store in the village, and a restaurant across the road. A walk of a mile takes you to a super café/bistro in the hamlet of Feizor. I would recommend this property to a couple who enjoy walking and wish to explore the area.

The Friendly Room was just that. We felt welcome and warm after some wet walks in the hills. A marvellous walking centre for Ingleborough area with fine walks starting from the front door without using a car. The owners are discreet and friendly offering a cream tea welcome and all the local advice you need. The studio room is practical and stylish - the oven is a complete microwave/grill/convection appliance - much better than the advertising suggests! Perfect for a romantic stay.

Although it is literally one room, this accommmodation has been extremely well designed. The bespoke kitchen has everything you need in a compact space and the living/bedroom area is very comfortable. The village is unspoilt with a shop, pub and hotel/restaurant and there are lovely walks from the door.

We found the cottage cosy and ideal for us and the locality of the cottage to many walks and cycle routes and places to visit was also ideal. The owners were very friendly also.

Excellent location with walking and cycling from the door - we didn't use the car once. Very friendly and helpful owners. Well equipped so you could choose to eat in or use one of the two good eating places in the village.

September 2011
Our hosts were exceptionally friendly, helpful and generous. The cottage is perfectly located in the lovely village of Austwick, and we enjoyed our many walks around the countryside as well as excellent dinners at both the Game Cock pub and the Traddock Hotel. We didn't have a car, but it was no problem to catch the local bus into Settle for market day, where we got wonderful provisions for cooking back at our cottage. We also caught the Settle to Carlisle train up to Carlisle, a beautiful trip.

I thought the accommodation was very well equipped, without cluttering the fresh, modern decor. There were thoughtful touches which shows the owner's attention to detail. Austwick is a very pretty and friendly village, well situated for walking in the western Dales, but also within easy range of all of the Yorkshire Dales, the Forest of Bowland and even the South Lakes.
