Lovely cottage with a view of the Abbey and within walking distance to the town.. Our boys loved the baths upstairs and the downstairs wet room was very convenient. We had a problem with the heating on one occasion but it was quickly sorted. Some instructions on how to use the dishwasher would have been helpful, also a nest of coffee tables, but all in all, we enjoyed our break in this cottage.

Having used Sykes several times now, we are aware of the standard so this met our requirements.. With one of the bedrooms being downstairs with a large en suite, it was ideal for my parents who are in their late 80s. The fact that Whitby was a six minute walk meant that the need to drive was not there. The two remaining bedrooms on the first floor were large and both with en suite facilities. Downstairs was also large with a clear view of Whitby Abbey. The property was exceptionally clean and comfortable and we would highly recommend the magpie.

The cottage was amazing.. Beautifully decorated and so luxurious. We had everything we needed in the kitchen. The log burner was great and so cosy! Very short walk to the centre of Whitby. I will definitely come to the cottage again in summer and would recommend to friends and family. Thanks so much we had a fab time!

Baths upstairs need shower curtains if you want to use hand held shower, they are not suitable for older people as you can not stand up and shower.. listing said bath and shower above which it isn’t it’s just hand held while sitting in bath. other than that accommodation was superb.

The property was very clean but a little run down as dinning chairs were flaking and the 2 settees were way too low as lost the padding.. The write up said was good for infirm people but we found this was not quite the case due to low toilet and no relaxing chair for infirm people had to use the wheelchair all week not practical for a weeks holiday. But we did enjoy the cottages area as this was a central cottage.

This is our second visit to Airy Hill Cottages.. We stayed in the Mallard the first time and brought my parents along the second time so stayed in the Magpie as it sleeps 6. We enjoyed our visit so much that we have already booked again for 2019. The location is great, within walking distance of town and there is parking, so you don't have to worry about getting a space if you go out for the day, when you return.

Magpie cottage was very clean overall except for the dishwasher which had a terrible smell.. I cleaned out the filter which was blocked with decaying food and grease. The dishwasher salt reservoir had no salt in just grey scummy water. I emptied this out too and filled it with fresh salt. After running the hot cycle through twice with no dishes it was clean and fit for use. Late on Monday evening the flushing mechanism in the downstairs en-suite would not stop flushing, this resulted in a very disturbed night's sleep. On Tuesday morning I left a message on Mrs Nobles voice mail. When she did not ring back I rang the Garden Center contact number where we had collected the keys. They said Mrs Nobles phone was not working but they did send some one round straight away. The flushing mechanism was fixed and we were given a replacement back door key as one of the two we had been issued with did not work properly. After 12 hours the flushing mechanism failed again and this time despite the late hour I rang Mr Noble as I was not prepared to have another sleepless night. Mr Noble could not fix the mechanism but temporarily turned off the water to the cistern. Wednesday morning Mr Noble rang to say a plumber would be with us between 11 am and 12 noon. The plumber came and fitted a new mechanism which took him about 45 mins. The upstairs bathrooms are quite cramped neither of us could stand up in the bath and I am only 5 foot 3 . Having said all this the situation of the cottage was very pleasant, as was the view of the Abbey. The cottage owners did respond as quick as they could to the problems we encountered. When we got home on Saturday there was an e-mail from Mrs Noble sent on the Tuesday morning acknowledging the fact the her mobile was not working and that she was sending someones to look at the toilet. Overall however I don't think we will be coming to Magpie cottage again.

Had a lovely break away with my family.. It was the first time we had taken my daughter who is 4 months old on holiday. Luckily for us the cottage was warm and well equipped which made everything really easy. Also had to ask very last minute for cot to be provided and this was no bother at all. Added bonuses: The beautiful view of the Abbey and great location to the town Will definitely return.
