The house is in a great location and is a good size.. BUT the bathrooms need updating as reported in 2018 , also the downstairs bedroom and bathroom does not have an opening window, there is a door that can be opened but this is on to the car port which is not a secure area. This means that the area always smells damp , . This would be a brilliant house if it was updated

There were a couple of issues with the facilities that as we were there for only a short time we worked around rather than be disturbed by potential maintenance.. Both of the upstairs toilets did not flush properly but as there were two other toilets we made do. There were no lids on the recycling bins which meant we could not put out our cardboard recycling due to the weather, this is why we marked down the facilities. Also the cutlery could do with an upgrade as there is barely enough there for 6 people. And finally the standard and size of the towels could be improved, one small towel per person is inadequate. None of this particularly serious and due the relatively cheap cost of the cottage we would come back (providing the toilets had been sorted). Watchet as an area is a great place to visit with lots of nice places to eat and drink, in particular the Cats Whiskers - a tapas bar with some of the best food I have ever eaten and the lovely warmth of the host.

Excellent location, comfortable cottage.. We were 5 adults and 5 children and found it to be comfortable, but not suitable for 10 adults as one sofa bed blocks access to two other bedrooms. However lovely cottage for the price and fully enclosed garden for our dog.

We had a lovely week at The Cottage.. Mrs Holt was very friendly and very helpful. The cottage itself was very nice and comfortable, the garden was properly secure and we were quite comfortable letting our dog run around in it because we could see it was safe for him. It was delightful to be able to go out on the balcony and look over the harbour and even see the trains coming into Watchet station, it would be nice if there was a small table and chairs on the balcony. The only bad points were the bathrooms which are in desperate need of updating, the small shower room is OK but the two bathrooms are very old and shabby. In spite of the bathrooms we would recommend this cottage.

The house was excellently positioned and as such we enjoyed our holiday.. The house was clean and presentable but is in dire need of maintenance throughout and new bathrooms, not a 4 tick standard at all, possibly 3. We had excellent weather so we were out of the house a lot of the time and with 7 adults, varying in age from 80's to 20's the space available was adequate. However, with our family group consisting of people from The Midlands, Scotland and Spain it was not the ideal introduction to UK holidaying. Maybe the owners need to spend a week there themselves? To name of few of the issues; the bedroom downstairs is down a step from the main level with the only shower over the bath, hardly a room for those who have issues with stairs. The towel rail comes away from the wall when used in the family bathroom upstairs and the bath has the iron showing through the enamel in places and needs to be replaced along with the toilet cistern which is cracked. The cistern in the communal toilet downstairs is a different colour to the toilet itself and has a hole in the inside of the door. The dishwasher tray falls out of its runner every time it is used, even after putting it back together.

Ground floor bedroom smelled of damp, large cobwebs in corners.. It wasn't suitable for a disabled person as it was a bath not a shower plus I tripped down the step into bedroom.I was unable to use the room and had to climb the stairs. Freyed carpets and no proper hand rail on stairs also all the 'distressed ' furniture spoilt our stay. The cottage position was spot on and Watchet is a lovely place. So sad to write this as Jackie was a lovely lady.

This cottage was perfect and fully met our expectations and requirements, the descriptions, amenities and photos were all up to date and accurate on the website.. We found the bedrooms to be perfect for our needs and the central location within the village was great for just wandering around and enjoying.

The cottage is in a fantastic location, a very short walk to the harbour, shops and pubs as well as the local steam railway! The location and the downstairs bedroom with en suite make this an ideal place for someone with limited mobility, however unfortunately the downstairs en-suite has shower over bath rather than walk in shower which is less than ideal. Overall this is a really lovely property which could do with some updating, in particular the plumbing. As a party of 5 we found the property comfortable but I think as previous reviewers have noted if 10 people were staying it would be a struggle. As a group we would definitely return.

We had a fantastic time at The Cottage, there were 7 of us and a dog staying here over the New year period.. The Cottage had everything we needed and was comfortable and spacious with a lovely garden. The location was fab, tucked away in a little side street within the town centre and very close to the harbour. Coop supermarket, takeaways, pubs and cafes all within a 2 min walk. The Star Inn does great food and the small and cosy pebbles bar is worth a visit. Had a great time at The Cottage in Watchet would deffiinetly recommend

The Xottage is lovely but needs updating in places.. Some of the cooking equipment needs replacing as it very old and I would have thrown it out years ago. The Cottage in places needs a bit more of a clean. The pull out sofa is on the landing and blocks the exit from the two bedrooms and we felt very uneasy using this bed in case of a fire, I'm unsure if this should be allowed because of the blocking of the exit. We took the mattress off and put it on the floor in the main bedroom and one of the children slept on the sofa downstairs. The cottage is in a lovely location and has 2 parking spaces which is a must in Watchet. We had a great family weekend and the dog was very safe in the enclosed garden.

The location, layout and garden of the house were perfect for 3 generations of our family (plus pet dog).. However for us, considering the rating and price paid for a weekend stay, it was let down by the interior. The bathrooms and carpets are in need of updating. Comparing this to other pet friendly cottages we have stayed in this year, I dont feel that the 4 tick rating is accurate. The owner was very friendly and helpful and the cottage was otherwise well equipped and comfortable.

A really lovely cottage with a superb location just a few meters from the harbour and with a supermarket and numerous pubs and cafe's within a short walk.. This is an ideal location for the less mobile like my parents and the enclosed garden was perfect for my springer who normally manages to find a way out of most enclosed gardens but this time he completely failed :)

Whilst my family and I very much enjoyed our stay at The Cottage in Watchet and appreciated all the efforts Mrs Holt made to provide a comfortable and welcoming holiday stay, we do feel it necessary to register our disappointment and dissatisfaction with the way Sykes has marketed the cottage as being suitable for 10 adults.. As we were all adults we needed 5 sleeping areas, so were pleased to see the second sitting room described as providing the 5th sleeping area we needed, it seemed perfect for our needs. "For extra space and convenience, there is a second sitting room upstairs with a double sofa bed and views out to sea" We were therefore very surprised and a little dismayed to find that, in order to access the twin bedrooms you had to go through this second sitting room which, when the sofa bed was deployed as a bed ,involved actually climbing over the bed and the person in it. We moved the bed to the side but ,whilst this gave some access, meant you could not use the wardrobe or shut the door. To fully inform possible guests you really should make clear in your details that this convenient second sitting room/ bedroom is actually the access route to where 4 other adults may be sleeping. It is not a discreet room . It may work for families with small children; however our youngest family member was a 31 year old woman who did not appreciate the idea of her 72 year old uncle having to climb over her bed to get to his morning coffee and he, unsurprisingly, was not comfortable with the idea either! If there had been a need to evacuate the property this would also have been an issue. Circumstance and compromise allowed us to get over the issue, we were determined not to let it spoil the break. We would, however, not have booked this cottage had we realised the situation. Also taking into account the fact the dining table is very tight for 10 and there is only comfortable seating for 8 in the living room, it would be fairer on the guests and owner to look again at how you market this property . I contacted you last January with this feedback, it is disappointing to see that the description remains unchanged and could lead to other groups experiencing this problem, hence this belated review.

The location of The Cottage was brilliant, we were able to leave the cars for the weekend and walk everywhere.. The lay out of Cottage was brilliant for our family of 3 generations and our dog. The enclosed garden was a real bonus with the children and dog able to play safely, without the worry of them escaping. The Cottage was located at the end of a lane which was a minute walk from the harbour at Watchet, the cafes, pubs, local shops and the supermarket were only a few minutes walk from the cottage, which was extremely useful. The children in our party loved being on the beach and found many fossils and the play park was only a short walk away. The cottage was furnished very comfortably and the children and adults were all able to relax in their own space without being in each others pockets, yet able to enjoy each others company when wanted. Jackie and Gary certainly made us welcome. We would definitely use this cottage again.

We loved the location; Watchet is such a quiet place, and plenty of places to explore as well. The car parking spaces were a bonus and as there was not a lot of room very much needed. All in all a very nice week, thank you.

The house is very convenient to the village which is lovely. The communal areas of the house worked very well for us. There was enough crockery and cutlery and the dishwasher was a welcome addition! The weather was particularly cold during our visit but the cottage remained nice and warm as the heating was kept on pretty much all day.
