Area With its cobblestone streets and back lanes, the picturesque and peaceful seaside village of Staithes is somewhat of an artist's dream. Its charming buildings and cottages are grouped around the historic harbour, which is flanked on three sides by high jagged cliffs, with a secluded sandy beach nestled among the rocky shoreline. Captain Cook, who was apprenticed to a draper near the waterfront, has ties to the community. Staithes is now a must-see for anybody visiting the Yorkshire Coast, with a diverse range of pubs, shops, and tea places. Staithes still has an RNLI lifeboat station, as well as a small fleet of cobles (fishing boats) that land fish, crab, and lobster, as well as boat trips for birdwatching, fishing, and even whale watching.

Had a fantastic week in ' The Cottage ' early November. Very comfortable well maintained / managed by Ian & Carl, everything you need and more including iron, ironing board and hairdryer. The double bed was so comfy as was the double recliner settee. Location was excellent for me as I could park the car up and use public transport to all the places of interest. WiFi worked a treat with SkyGo on my tablet. We loved the friendly community. Tiger Inn . Thoroughly recommend ! . We will return to the Cottage. Many Thanks Steve and Sharon

March 2022
Just finished a long weekend here and would highly recommend.
The cottage has 2 other rentals attached so would be great for larger parties.
Has had new owners in the last month and can see from the old visitor book that the old owners were highly thought off and old frequent visitors are reluctant to come again with new owners.
I never met the old owners, but the new owners Carl and especially Ian are lovely. So warm and friendly. They are the perfect hosts.
Now the property, it is the least modernised of the 3 properties but it's still warm and cosy. We've not needed the heating on at all. We have lit the fire late on every night, but more for aesthetics than heat.
The gardens are beautiful, so many spaces to sit and eat outside. You cook literally follow the sun around. The area near the well must be a real sun trap in the summer.
We haven't found the road loud, and we live in a quiet cul de sac. It may be different in summer when you need windows open though. However we have sat outside a lot, and it hasn't bothered us.
The area is stunning, we've walked along the Cleveland Way in both directions. Which is only approx 10 mins walk away down the road. The local pubs seem good, with friendly staff.
Would I recommend to friends and family? Definitely.
Would we come again? Again yes, as I feel we haven't touched on what the area has to offer and this Cottage is an ideal base.
