The accommodation was accurately described, the furniture and fittings looked new .. We would have liked to have WiFi available and would look for this in our next holiday let especially during COVID where places have to be pre booked. On a minor note a cafetière would have been nice to make coffee.

Cottage was extremely well presented and clean but unfortunately luck of the draw when you have a family staying in holiday let above, it was rather noisey at times.. Beautiful place Staithes and will definitely return.

It was a lovely little cottage just as advertised.. It had everything we needed to enjoy our stay. We were aware of the issue of no parking prior to arrival, so we planned in advance moving our stuff, which we did in 2 trips. (It’s £6 for 24 hours). After reading a review a couple of days prior to going which mentioned damp and dirty bedding, I was a little concerned, but happy to say this was not the case for us. There are 2 pubs with a minutes walk which are both nice. If there was one issue it would be the upstairs neighbour being noisy, however I wouldn’t let it put you off going, if you’re a light sleeper just take earplugs!

After booking the cottage in August, I then saw a review with issues of damp and unclean bedding which worried me closer to the stay. However I’m glad to say we didn’t have an my issues with damp or dirty bedding at all. We found it clean and presentable and was what we expected when we initially booked our stay. We knew about the parking in advance, which is £6 for 24 hours and we moved our belongings in 2 trips using the steps through the village rather than the main road in. It’s a lovely picturesque village worth a visit, there’s 2 pubs with a minutes walk and the cod and lobster serve lovely food. Would happily recommend, although the upstairs neighbour can be heard easily so if you don’t mind that you’ll have a lovely stay.

On arriving at Staithes, we were impressed by what a beautiful place it was. We were aware before arriving that parking was an issue, and we had to park at the top of the road at the property. What we were shocked about was the extent of the walk to get there! The hill is very steep, and no long term parking is available outside the cottage. The car park is also pay and display, £7 a day. When we finally got our luggage into the cottage, we were very tired and ready for bed. When we got into the bed, we were horrified to discover that the bedding was not only damp(there were dehumidifiers in each room), it also appeared to be dirty. There were visible hairs on the duvet cover, as well as on the sheet underneath and on the mattress protector. We did complain to the owner the following morning who did compensate us. However, under the current situation with coronavirus we felt it was far from acceptable. The whole situation did set the holiday off badly. There was a wood burner in the cottage. We lit a fire one night and realised there was no glass on the burner, causing the cottage to Fill with smoke. There was virtually no storage at all in the kitchen to put anything in cupboards which was a problem. When we returned home, we found all the clothes in our luggage were that damp from the cottage, they all had to be rewashed. In conclusion, although the owner of the cottage did compensate us for the bedding issue, there were also no end of other problems with the cottage that would put us off booking again. This is a shame as Staithes is a beautiful location. We will not be returning to Grimes nook as major improvements are required.

A fabulous hideaway in a beautiful location , The locals were really friendly and having the Cod and Lobster public house so close was a real benefit especially after our long and invigorating cliff top walks..

Makeover of the cottage was/may have been needed but we preferred it the way it was before tbh.. Still a lovely cottage and we had a thoroughly enjoyable stay again. Would just change one thing - please bring back the upper cupboards in the kitchen - we had nowhere to store our food. Still overall, you have done a very good job of the refurbishment albeit we preferred the olde worlde style that the cottage was before. The newer, modern feel detracts from the quaintness of the cottage and its surroundings. Everything you need in this cottage. Great job!

I believe the owners are aware that this cottage is due for an overhaul.. This is a 300yr old property and therefore has some draw backs. The wall in living room is very damp. It would have been nice to have had the heaters on when we arrived as the place was cold and took a day to warm through. The kitchen is compact but has everything we needed. The bed could do with a new mattress. The bathroom is spacious and there is plenty of hot water. We loved the position in the heart of Staithes and we were fully aware of the problems with vehicular access, which would make this property difficult for anyone with mobility issues but this is made clear in the property details. All in all we enjoyed our stay.

I am really surprised at the negative comments left for this cottage.. I found the cottage absolutely divine. Everything you need. Comfort and cosiness. We thoroughly relaxed. (I am a very busy operations Manager) the area is delightful. The cottage is a stone's through from the sea front. The dog loved it as well and relaxed. We will definately be visiting this cottage again. Thank you so much for a truly amazing few days break! Sue, Steve and Socks

My husband and I have just had a lovely relaxing weeks break in Grimes Nook.. The cottage was clean and comfortable and close to all amenities. It was great not to have wifi and a phone signal which helped us to have a chilled break. You can get a phone signal further up the hill if you needed to.The weather was very wet so the log burning stove was great. My only suggestion would be to have a tumble dryer in the cottage rather than a dishwasher as wet clothes were difficult to dry.We will definitely be returning.

This old fisherman's cottage is very quaint, of that there is no doubt. But, it is not without quite a lot of faults that are down to the owners and managers of the cottage. Because the cottage is away from the road, it is difficult to locate on a sat nav, and we ended up at a dead end on the road that leads down to the harbour. This road is so narrow that only one car at a time can be on it. So, as you can imagine it was an absolute nightmare parking the car, unloading it and then moving it a quarter of a mile up the road to a car park. The cottage is very small and just about caters for two people. The kitchen has facilities that you would expect e.g. fridge and cooker. But, surprisingly, the fridge does not have a freezer box in it and for some odd reason the owners have not installed a freezer, and instead, have put in a dishwasher. When you consider that the cottage is very small, there really doesn't seem much point having a dishwasher because I can't see anyone having big dinner parties that requires such a thing. Also, there is a table and chairs that does take up a large space in the kitchen area that would only require a very small fold out table, and folding chairs. Similarly to this, for some strange reason, there are two, quite large, three seater sofas that take up an awful lot of space that could be used in a far greater way. The same applies to the bathroom space. There is a big shower cubicle, a toilet and a sink. Next to the sink, on the right, is a floor to ceiling cupboard, that is separated into two halves. The top half is locked? And the bottom half is being utilised for cleaning equipment? There is nowhere to put washing items, as the bathroom cabinet is big enough for only a few items. The bedroom is what you would expect and has in it a small double bed, an old double freestanding wardrobe and an old wooden chair. Now, let the fun begin with sleeping. Personally, I would have expected a medium/firm mattress that was fairly new. No. What you get is a mattress that is so old that the springs are well beyond their boingability that you sink down to the slats on the bed frame. Now, I suffer from quite a lot of mild spinal complaints, and this mattress exacerbated all of these ailments to the point that I struggled to move first thing in the morning. It is far from comfortable and needs changing. The cottage is also damp and there is a dehumidifier in the lounge that really needs to be on all of the time to take the moisture out of the air. The damp is bad enough that there is a visible patch in the corner where the TV is. If there had been more reviews on this cottage there is no way my wife would have booked us for a full week and only have booked us for three nights as, despite the fact that Staithes is very pretty, there is nothing to do, apart from visit the two pubs and maybe visit the Captain Cook museum, and to spend any longer in the cottage would require a couple to be very happy in their own company and to do a lot of travelling to other places. Wether or not the cottage was part of a bigger house at some point, I am unsure, as there is the top part of Grimes Nook, which is also rented out. Because of this any movement from the visitors above can get very annoying, very quickly. I would love to give a better review of the cottage, but, there are too many things that made it a forgettable venture.

We booked this cottage for 4 nights from the 26th of August as a treat for my birthday, staithes is somewhere I have always wanted to go as it looks lovely in pictures I have seen. The cottage itself was nice and clean and looked very tidy and overall was a nice stay. As an aside to that, what I think people should know is that although it says you can park close by to unload/load your stuff, it is very difficult to get a parking place and you can't park on the street as it's only one car width, making unloading with a full compliment of food and clothes really a chore, we had to pay an extra £30 to park for the 4 days in the top Car park and carry heavy luggage about half a mile down very steep slopes and steps, not for the disabled..

Stayed in this lovely cottage for 3 nights over bank holiday weekend. The cottage provided everthing we needed, very comfortable, immaculate, wood burning stove was a bonus, well equipped kitchen and spacious bathroom. We managed to unload and load easily and parked in council car park. We will definately be back.

Absolutely delighted with the cottage; the owners had clearly thought of everything right down to the local arts and crafts on display to the Christy towels in the bathroom. Really nice finishing touches. The village itself was beautiful and we really liked wandering around in the evening after our various daytrips.
