Area
The village of Newbiggin nestles close to the valley floor on the south side of Bishopdale in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales National Park. Although Newbiggin means 'New Buildings', the term is relative since here are some of the finest examples of 17th century dwellings in the Dales. This pretty and ancient village in the heart of Wensleydale is situated in truly beautiful countryside, with old stone cottages set out in a long line through a minor road that wends its way through the village. This is a walker's paradise, with wonderful countryside, magnificent views and the Cauldron Falls still delighting visitors. The local pub is set on the outskirts of the village and serves fine ales and excellent homemade cuisine. There is also an excellent range of amenities in the nearby market towns of Hawes and Leyburn.

From heather-clad moors and limestone scars, to market towns and the steady pace of country life - the sublime Dales await you! Where else in Britain is it as satisfying to sit and do nothing as it is to explore the numerous pursuits on offer?

This beautiful, well appointed cottage is in an idyllic, peaceful location right in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales.. The cottage is extremely clean and comfortable with plenty of fuel for the log burner for cosy nights. The local pub (Streethead Inn) serves tasty meals and is only 5 minutes walk away. Due to COVID guidelines, we took our own cushions, fleeces and games for the cosy lounge. We had a fabulous week. The only thing we could have done with was instructions for the oven. Possibly laminated to make them COVID friendly, therefore cleanable.

Super location.. Cottage spacious, warm, very clean and well equipped, very comfortable and peaceful. Good location for walks in the Dales. Great to have carparking too. Caretaker person very friendly ( even tho this could only be by text in the current circumstances!). We would book here again

Beautiful cottage catering to our every need.. We went over the Xmas period and the owner put up a tree and left us a poinsettia, some white roses, and Prosecco. The log fire and Rayburn oven made this extra special. it felt like a home rather than a holiday property. would definitely recommend.

Eastburn Cottage was very comfortable, clean and had lovely views.. We had a problem with the downstairs TV but this was quickly dealt with and we had no other problems. We visited a variety of visitor attractions - James Herriott museum in Thirsk which was very good and we liked Thirsk itself very much. We also enjoyed the Wensleydale Creamery and the Ropemakers in Hawes. We were unable to visit everything we wanted this time but we would stay at Eastburn Cottage again and would recommend it to others. We definitely liked the slower pace and less traffic of the Yorkshire Dales.

The cottage is an excellent and well cared for property in a delightfully scenic part of the Dales.. Although a car is necessary to reach local towns there are interesting walks readily accessible right from the cottage door. If you have 2 cars parking in the space by the cottage is tight but just opposite on the other side of the road is a space in front of a garage that is owned by Eastburn Cottage that enables a second car to be parked satisfactorily. The dining space in the kitchen is a bit tight when the table is pulled out and extended but we managed relatively easily even though there were 7 of us. The garden is small but well kept and is perfectly adequate for sitting out in the sun if you are enjoying fine weather during your stay. If you are not, then the utility room with its drying facilities is a real boon. We would be happy to return to this property at some time in the future.

Lots of room in this beautifully presented cottage.. Loved the outside space, views and the peace and quiet. Very quiet location but ideally placed for access to local amenities and central for activities. Having 2 bedrooms en-suite was a bonus although the shower in the downstairs bedroom had low water pressure, just took longer. Would definitely revisit this fabulous property.

A lovely cottage in a very quiet position.. Well equipped and very warm and cozy. Easy access to all pints in the Dales, such as Hawes, Leyburn and Reeth. Small, but perfectly kept garden. Parking a little tight for 2 cars. All in all we greatly enjoyed our stay.

A brilliant Christmas stay with the family.. Lots of space for us all and the cottage was well equipped with everything we needed. Loved the Aga stove and so easy to use. We cooked a perfect xmas day lunch between Aga and conventional oven. The Street Head Inn just down the lane was great and so friendly and welcoming. Also the residents in Newbiggin always had a friendly wave for you. Such a lovely cottage in a lovely place, we would love to come back again in the future.

A beautiful cottage in a gorgeous location.. Possibly the best-equipped cottage we have ever stayed at - how often does a cottage provide a citrus zester? We had a wonderful holiday and especially enjoyed swimming in the many local waterfalls.

I would have rated the cottage more highly, but the bathroom hot water supply and therefore the shower there, failed to work, meaning we had to share showers with other guests.. This problem was obviously known before the booking was made as it is a long-standing problem, I understand. We should have been informed about it beforehand and not when we arrived. It is a breach of trust to offer an facility that is known to be malfunctioning.

Warm welcome, lovely home.. My only suggestion would be to have, as we have had in some other rentals, some fresh bread, milk, tea and coffee. After a very long drive it would be most appreciated!

Eastburn cottage is a beautiful house in the middle of a lovely quiet village. The cottage has everything you need for a great stay. The downstairs bedroom was great for my parents as my mum is a little unstable on her feet . All the upstairs room were comfortable and the addition of the ensuites to both the master bedrooms is a bonus. The kitchen was a lovely place to cook a meal with everything close to hand and great views over the dales. The small enlcosed garden was lovely to sit out in on the warm summer nights . Within 10 mins drive there are several good pubs around , but i would recommend the 10 min walk to the end of the lane to the street head inn ( see seperate review ) its worth the walk. All in all this was a lovely family break in a beautiful cottage set in lovely suroundings.

Eastburn Cottage is situated in a great location - a most attractive looking cottage in an attractive Yorkshire village. The view from the kitchen window was stunning and we were very lucky to have superb weather. The beds and pillows were very comfortable, as were the chairs and sofa in the lounge. The surrounding area is full of interesting places to visit.
