Thoroughly enjoyed our stay in a beautiful well equipped cottage in a fantastic location, the only one criticism would be that the shower in the main bathroom in the beautiful freestanding cast iron bath has no holder or shower screen/curtain and is difficult to use without splashing all the walls and floor so we all ended up using the shower in the ensuite bathroom.. This did not really affect our stay and if you were a bath rather than shower type person you would love the bath

A wonderful hidden gem in the dales.. Perfect in every way, spacious yet cosy with a lovely garden to sit in and watch the sun go down. Cottage so nicely appointed, very well furnished and equipped, we were challenging each other to think of something they hadn't provided, and couldn't!! Great relaxing views over the canal and hills beyond, pub in walking distance and essential supplies at the nearby garage. Definitely now on our 'go to list' for short breaks and possibly retirement if the owner ever sells!!

The cottage was absolutely perfect.. Really well equipped and the location was great. The bedrooms were all good sizes and the big island in the kitchen made preparing meals a doddle. There are great walks from the house up onto the fells behind the property and also some flatter walks down the canal. We had a great week!
Mr Grenham, August 2020
Great location to explore Yorkshire.. The cottage was clean, and had loads of room for our needs.
Mr Flint, July 2020
The house was wonderful and surpassed our expectations..

Our stay at canalside cottages was very enjoyable.. we have stayed there before , last november 2018 .
The cottage is excellent, easy access to various towns and cities . The cottage is well equipped with everything we needed.
It is warm and inviting on a cold day in november.
I would recommend this cottage to friends and family.
We hope to stay again next year.
Mrs Burke, November 2019
We had a lovely time at canal cottage.. The location is just perfect. Great for walking & close to amenities & short taxi ride to Skipton
Local pub is only 2 minutes walk and the village is so picturesque
Mrs Yates-maroudas, November 2019
Lovely cottage, beautiful views and very comfortable.. Had absolutely everything we needed. My only gripe is that the pictures present as a very rural and quiet area and you can not see that there is a major road very nearby which was noisy.
Mrs Mathison, October 2019
This is a great holiday cottage in fab location.. The property is very rustic and homely, the only thing to note is that like a lot of older properties of this type the stairs are narrowing and sheepish otherwise it's super. Good enough that we have rebooked for next year
Mr Banks, September 2019
Great place in a great location.. Views are amazing. All your needs not to far away. Highly recommended.
Mrs Deards, July 2019
This is just the most beautiful and well-equipped cottage ; I defy anyone to not have a lovely time here.. Thank you so much.
Great location, comfortable and well equipped cottage with everything we needed for any enjoyable holiday..
Lovely location, very well equipped cottage.. . Have already recommended it to a friend. Very satisfied indeed.
Cottage was really nice had everything u could need, it was warm and comfortable
Very satisfied with all aspects of the cottage except the garden .. It did not give a good impression as we arrived due to poor maintenance. Would have been nice to sit outside . Seating was available but was covered with a dirty tarpaulin . Weeds very evident . Would have been nice to consider a barbecue area in good weather.
Would also benefit from a proper shower in the main bathroom. Very awkward trying to to use the unsupported shower hose which was part of the bath tap assembly. Had to hold the shower in your hand and try not to wet the bathroom floor !
Canal Cottage provided the perfect venue for our May holiday.. The cottage itself was very clean, comfortable and well equipped. The hosts were very accommodating and kind. The area was central to allow us to complete day trips to Ripon, Whitby, the Dales and the Moors. Skipton is a lovely market town where we boarded the train for an overnight trip to Scotland. Nature walks along the canal were spectacular and we enjoyed feeding the ducks and swans, and watching the narrow boats navigate through the swing bridges. If we could change anything about our visit to England at Canal Cottage it would be to have stayed longer!! I am so glad we found Sykes Cottages and Canal Cottage.
Nancy and Alan Hines
We loved this cottage, great for our 3 generations.. Enjoyed the log fire on cold evenings and walks along the canal. The children enjoyed watching the boats from the window and helping to open the swing bridge.
We stayed at Canalside Cottage for a long weekend and it was a home from home. The cottage is equipped with everything you'd need and more - it was the little creature comforts that made it such a great place to stay. The cottage is situated overlooking the canal so you can watch the boats / walkers / joggers / bikers go by when sat in the living room or even sat in the bath !
The cottage is 1 minute walk from a great pub (The White Lion) which was really welcoming and has good food with big portions and a good range of ales. Skipton is a 10 minute drive away and is a lovely town with some great shops. There are lovely walks directly from the cottage or you can venture further afield with Ilkely Moor, Settle and Malham all within a short drive.
All in all, it was a wonderful break and we will definitely be staying again.
The cottage was well presented and very well equipped.. The location was perfect for touring in the Skipton area. Only a 5 minute walk to the local pub which offered very good food.
Apart from being a perfect setting.. The cottage was a very homely place with its pictures and little ornamental bits and pieces and felt very welcoming.
Ideally situated for sight seeing around Yorkshire. Not too far from anywhere.
Canal side cottage is a beautiful cottage .. Comfy, clean, and welcoming.
Ideally situated for the Yorkshire Dales.
Would choose this cottage again if visiting the area .
The photos don't do this cottage justice - it is quite simply lovely. We are a couple with 3 children and there is more than enough room to relax. The kitchen is very well equipped which can be unusual in rental cottages. The view is beautiful with rolling countryside and a direct view of the canal and the boats gliding past. Very comfortable beds and lovely homely feel make this cottage a perfect base for visiting the surrounding attractions.
Mrs Dunne, December 2016

Stayed here with our sons and their girlfriends in late August. Great location, fantastic views both of the cottage and the Pennines in the distance. Cottage finished to a very high standard, particularly the kitchen, which was great for us all to settle in as we all took turns to cook in the evenings! Bedrooms more than large enough and very comfortable. We even managed to use the outside space for some al fresco breakfast eating, in late August in Yorkshire! There was a slight problem with the boiler switching itself off two or three times whilst people were showering, but we are told the owner is resolving this issue. All in all, a great cottage, a great holiday, plenty to do and see nearby, pub a two minute walk away (Tuesday night is pie night, highly recommended!). Don't dither - book it!
Three generations of our family stayed at this gorgeous cottage in August 2015, aged between 8 months & 66 years. The property was located in beautiful surroundings and we loved watching the barges pass by the living room window on the canal. My 5 year old son loved feeding the ducks from the footbridge over the canal & playing in the nearby little play area. The cottage facilities were great, the kitchen was gorgeous I wish my kitchen at home was as nice ! The bedrooms were spacious and have two bathrooms was perfect for our family. Great location for exploring, we loved Skipton visiting the castle & taking a barge tour.
The view from the cottage was outstanding, not only could you watch the canal boats float by, but you can also see for miles! Six adults were staying and there was plenty of room for us all. We particularly appreciated the large kitchen, where we could congregate to chat while the cook for the day was busy!
A lovely cottage which was the perfect size for three generations holidaying together in a super location overlooking the canal.

The standard of Canalside Cottage was excellent, it had everything we needed!
A lovely house with some quirky touches and attention to detail. Liked being able to go for walks from the door and having a shop and pub a short walk away was good.
