Facilities The king-size double bed is the focal point in the middle of the yurt underneath the clear window roof! Bed linen is included. There is wood burning stove to keep you cosy on cooler evenings (logs provided), plus chest of drawers, bed side tables, small table and bean-bag chairs.
A complimentary breakfast is included in the price for your first morning.
The kitchenette facilities are just outside, under the oak-framed gazebo. It comprises a 2-ring gas hob for boiling water for tea or coffee and basic cooking, along with a selection of saucepans, frying pans, crockery and cutlery.
The Yurt and outdoor kitchen are both powered by solar energy offering a fully off-grid experience. This provides lights, a camping fridge and phone charging points. A radio is also available with blue tooth functionality to allow you to listen to some music (quietly) or keep in contact with the outside world. There is no wi-fi, but mobile phone and 4G signal is good on most networks. A small selection of books and games are available.
There is no running water at the yurt, but mains tap (drinking) water is available in the nearby facilities building where the shared washing up area is, just 50 metres from the yurt, along a stone/gravel pathway.
The toilet and hot shower is also located in the facilities building, it's a private and lockable toilet/shower room for your sole use, so you can leave your personal items there. Towels and toiletries are included. Each unit has it's own allocated toilet/shower.
Location The small hamlet of Allerford is probably most well known for the well-photographed 15th century pack horse bridge and the local National Trust and picture-perfect thatched country cottages, also in nearby Selworthy and Bossington. The larger village of Porlock is a short drive - approx 1.5 miles - less than 5 mins in the car, or approx 30 minutes on foot via quiet country lane, has a selection of pubs, restaurants, tea rooms and shops. Minehead is the nearest town, with supermarkets and other shops, approx 10 minute drive.
There are many walks from the doorstep - within easy access is Bossington beach and Porlock Weir or head up onto North Hill or Dunkery Beacon for amazing views across the Bristol Channel to Wales.
