Lying within four miles of the wonderful cathedral city of York is the charming village of Upper Poppleton, offering a perfect base for adventures into the city, whilst being away from the crowds. This North Yorkshire village is home to two local pubs, two shops offering food and essentials, and is served by Poppleton railway station on the Harrogate Line, putting you within easy reach of another popular town. Visitors to the village are just a stone's throw away from the centre of York, head into this historic setting following the direction of the River Ouse to find a wealth of attractions; discover York's history within the National Railway Museum, Fairfax House, York Minster, and York Castle Museum. Visit the unique attraction of the JORVIK Viking Centre with its recreation of a Viking village including the sounds and smells, or endure a gruesome affair at The York Dungeon's gory exhibit! Head over to Harrogate for afternoon tea in Betty's Café Tea Rooms before taking a stroll around the Royal Pump Room Museum and the Mercer Art Gallery, with Harrogate's many beautiful green spaces being perfect for picnics too.
