We really enjoyed our week at Castle Hill Cottage.. It's a lovely old cottage, beautifully furnished and decorated - the owners have impeccable taste. It's spacious, clean, cosy and well-equipped. We appreciated the welcome pack of Jaffa cakes, cheese sticks and wine. It was useful having a general store almost opposite the cottage and we loved watching all the race horses pass by. Would definitely recommend Castle hill cottage and hope to be back sometime.

We enjoyed a great week in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales.. The cottage was well located with towns such as Hawes and Richmond within easy reach, along with some stunning walks on the doorstep. The cottage was well equipped and really comfortable, particularly the beds.

I had a wonderful time at this beautiful location with my wife, 2yr old and mother in law.. As it is in a small town there were a few little small town particulars to be aware of such as best times to get a car park close to the cottage etc, however these were all explained to me by Lawrence when I called him a few days prior to our arrival. As to the cottage itself, it was within a stones throw of the castle and the small town shop so ideally placed. The interior of the cottage was all very pleasant and tastefully modernised whilst still retaining the character of the original building. Should I find myself back in this area I will certainly look at booking this place again if availability permits.

This is the second occasion we have used Sykes Cottages Ltd and we will certainly be looking to book our next holiday with them.. Castle Hill Cottage certainly exceeded our expectations - beautiful cottage with everything and more. The hamper was a really nice surprise there was even milk and butter in the fridge - these touches go a long way - thank you.

Another perfect week at Castlehill Cottage, our third visit.. Clean, comfortable & cozy as always. The cottage is decorated to a high standard & all interior products very good, bedding, towels, cutlery... Lovely new bathroom tiles, new toaster (as promised) by Lawrence the owner who is very helpful & approachable should you need his assistance. Will be booking shortly for our annual visit next year. Thankyou to to Sykes, Lawrence & the very good ladies who look after the cottage & it’s cleanliness & make it so welcoming.

I have got to say this was the nicest cottage we have stayed in.. Immediately warm and welcoming, superb facilities and fantastic location to explore the area. In addition the village has everything in walking distance including a well stocked shop and pubs serving delicious food and the best pint of ale we have had for a long time. Myself, my husband and three daughters had a perfect week away!

As a group of older people we like to spend our evenings cooking and dining.. The cottage was well equipped for cooking but sadly lacking in a few basics for dining; there was only one knife fork and spoon per person - with one left over (difficult when one is serving a four course meal!) no serving dishes or serving spoons, no bread knife, no jugs other than a measuring jug, five odd red wine glasses and no white wine glasses other than two small champagne flutes. While we understand that most people will probably eat out while at the cottage 'fully equipped' should mean just that. The broken window which we found on arrival took three phone calls to satisfy the Sykes staff but when Mr Burton became involved was quickly dealt with. The cottage was tastefully decorated and furnished and spotlessly clean.

Very nice cottage with a number of rooms to spread out in, or settle in cosy in the main room in front of the fire, according to preference.. Village shop, fish & chip shop tea room & three pubs are a stones throw away, as is Middleham castle. Racehorses regularly trot by on their way to the gallops. Very good base for exploring the Dales.

We had the most amazing time at this cottage it was just exquisite and steeped in history you could almost feel it as soon as you entered.. The attention to detail in the restoration of this cottage is just superb and each room has been designed and thought about. It was absolutely stunning, everything to hand and more besides. We all loved watching the racehorses go past each morning up to the gallops too. All in all a wonderful cottage which is faultless in a superb setting, a lovely village to stay and I would without any doubt recommend Castle Hill cottage we were just sorry our stay had to end. Thank you so much.

Amazing. Exactly the same as last year but felt more ‘home from home’ as second visit.. Will certainly be returning same week next year, had correspondence with the owner Lawrence showing our appreciation & enjoyment of holiday/break. Only tiny minor, as expressed last year, see last years email: need 4/6 slice toaster as toasting 2 slices only at one time difficult when 5 adults eating together. Fantastic Holiday!! Other holidays & breaks booked throughout year but cannot wait to return, thankyou, thankyou, thankyou... Sykes helpful at all times

We were very lucky to spend 3 nights in this beautiful cottage over the Christmas period! Just what we wanted for a chilled out Christmas in such a amazing part of the country. The cottage is lovely, so much better than it even looks on the photos. All the added touches were great, the Christmas decorations and even our table for decorated for us for Christmas Day! Totally unexpected but very much appreciated! We had such a magical time! Just a couple minor points to be aware of, if you are taking a dog with you there is no yard to let them out so it means more walks for toilet trips. There were no large serving plates and the pans had seen better days. Only minor things though, would definitely recommend this lovely cottage!

This cottage is perfect. The furnishings and décor are outstanding. It is set in the centre of Middleham with 4 pubs, walking, views and horses. Great for a short break or longer stay. Can't recommend it highly enough.
