June 2023
We arrived slightly early for check in but had been advised by Elaine that hopefully the cottage would be ready by 2pm which it was. We were just unloading when Gerard popped in with some milk,so with the hamper kindly provided we could have a cuppa & snack.
The weather wasn't very warm for June but the cottage was always nice & cosy, the washing machine being a benefit as we were going on to Thirsk on the Saturday. The cottage is well equipped and we did do a bit of cooking a couple of nights.
The Fox & hounds pub ,just 100 yards away does some fantastic, reasonable pub grub , I don't think we've ever had food so hot & steaming , thanks to Paul who along with the lady chef were managing very well without help. Theakstons £2.90 a pint.
The Captain Cook pub on hill to Staithes did a really good Sunday lunch for 2 & three pints for just over £30.
We hadn't been to this area before but may well return , the owners & villagers really friendly & lots of walks which can be done from the cottage. Places we visited not really further than 15 miles away. Shame the sun didn't shine but didn't stop us doing anything. Staithes, Redcar, Saltburn is lovely but don't queue to sit in the Seaview restaurant very overated.
Coop handy up the road turn right for supplies or turn left 6 miles up the road to Aldi, Asda etc.
Only criticism is the TV, the sound is awful & with such good WiFi could have a bugger Smart TV to get Netflix, iPlayer, prime etc .
