Area Cloughton lies 4 miles north of Scarborough, on the edge of the North York Moors National Park. With mainly old cottages lining the main street and more modern developments behind, the village has two pubs on the main street and one on the outskirts. Close by is the popular 'Cinder Track', the disused 23 mile long railway track, that is for walking, cycling and horse riding. There is easy access to the Cleveland Way long distance trail that hugs the cliff top as it winds its way to Scarborough. Popular since Victorian times, this vibrant seaside town retains many of its original fine buildings, parks and gardens, as well as its historic castle which overlooks the town. North Bay and South Bay provide two superb stretches of beautiful, golden sandy beaches, popular with families and small children. There are a number of child friendly activities and many excellent visitor attractions for grown-ups too, including the Stephen Joseph Theatre, Scarborough Spa and Scarborough Open Air Theatre for live music. Scarborough is a great location for outdoor activities, with golf courses, lovely coastal walks along the Cleveland Way, stunning cycle routes such as the old railway to Whitby, beautiful sailing and championship quality surfing. Add to this all the usual seaside entertainment and bustling promenades located close to the beach and Scarborough is the destination with something for everyone. Ideally situated for touring the coastline and the moors, Scarborough is an ideal base for a fun-filled break.
Region The North York Moors National Park covers 554 square miles, with landscape ranging from heather-clad moorland and deep secluded dales, to the cliffs and coves of the magnificent coastline making it a haven for walkers.

No hot water all week no heating .washing machine broken .big dispute with all the neighbouring cottages they all hate the fact this cottage is a rental we got abuse from neighbours and got told to leave even got apples thrown at us through the upstairs lounge window from the nasty woman back way .got constantly told to move our vehicle. Cottage so overlooked and owners virtually on top of you as they live next door .garden area dirty and scruffy and communal gate and lawned area not nice to even walk on as neighbour threaten you when you come out the cottage .photos are very misleading the big windows not even part of the rental and garden area now a scruffy overgrown paved area with big fence around so no views at all .awful atmosphere neighbours hate guests in this cottage made it so uncomfortable for us and apparently this has been going on years .

The Hayloft is a super holiday property with good access to the nearby Cinder Track for walking and cycling on and easy access to nearby coastal resorts by car/bus.. The accommodation is extremely comfortable with everything needed for a relaxing stay in a very peaceful setting. The owner has provided lovely home touches in the decor of the house. We've been twice now to this property and will definitely return. Highly recommended.

I am not rating you, but the Cottage I stayed in.. Its your job to see all the details and expectations are correct. The Cottage is advertised elsewhere anyway.
The Cottage was compact, warm and comfortable, the views amazing, the Art Work an unexpected pleasure. Perhaps a plumper Cushion on the Settee would be good.
The Cinder Track was near, buses ran frequently between Scarborough and Whitby. All in all an excellent place to stay. Would recommend to Friends and Family, and even return for a Chill out time.
WiFi would be helpful for those who do not have Posh phones

The exterior photo on the internet is very misleading as it appears that the 3 panned window is part of the cottage.. There is now a high fence around the property resulting in a small patio which does not appear on the photo. There is also a a very large and noisy Thermo V LG heating/water heater in the patio which was constantly on and off all day resulting in an unpleasant ambiance on the patio.

This cottage was very convenient, comfortable, and well equipped.. There was plenty of local information in the form of books, and the owner was always available to give advice on local things. The paintings and art creations were of the highest quality.
The only downside was that the bedroom was upstairs but the toilet was downstairs. This could cause a problem for the elderly or the disabled. perhaps this could be made clear on the description of the property.
However I would certainly recommend this cottage for a relaxing and enjoyable stay.
Thank you.

I loved the beautiful coastline and we found the Cinder Track a great, traffic free route to get from place to place.
