The holiday cottage, owner and location were excellent.. My only negative comment to make is about the day I rang your (Sykes) office to check availability and price and to potentially book the property. It was available for my dates and I was expecting the price to be confirmed as described on the web site = £293. However I was told it was now £299 ! I queried this and was told it was because I was booking it on the phone. So now booking it on the phone costs £6.00 extra - that's a neat trick you don't mention when advising which buttons to press on the phone or as far as I can see on your website or terms and conditions either. I have booked on the phone with your company in the past without this extra cost being added - it used to be a simple thing to do without challenging the extras. You already take a booking fee and thats when I book online myself. I suggested to the agent that I might as well stop the call and go and book it online - for the advertised price. At that point she said she might be able to waive the £6.00 charge - so I agreed to continue with the £293 price. This activity sounds a bit underhand to me - I don't know (yet) of any other holiday company that charges extra for ringing up.... and hopefully in future you wont either.

A lovely peaceful cottage in a great location for visiting Yorkshire Dales and the North York Moors.. This cottage is very clean and very comfortable. A very small negative for us stopping for two weeks, no washing machine in the kitchen, so had to hand wash items when getting muddy on walks in the area. The garden was lovely in the evenings to be able to sit outside and watch the sun set. Lovely fresh flowers on arrival and the owner available if you have any issues but not intrusive. Home made cake and wine on arrival as well made us feel really welcome. Will definitely be returning to this cottage.

We had a very enjoyable second visit to Summer Farm Cottage.. It is a lovely comfortable, cosy and relaxing cottage that is very well equipped. Made very welcome by the owners. The bottle of wine and the ginger cake were very welcome. It is in a very quiet location but very easily accessible to most of North Yorkshire. We hope to return at some time in the future.

The cottage was beautiful, very well equipped, so much space inside and out .. Very peaceful. Welcome pack of a bottle of wine, a vase of Sunflowers and ginger cake (made by Maggies Mum ) was very much appreciated. An ideal location to visit lots of places. All the people in the local pub were very friendly and the food was nice. Would highly recommend this very pretty cottage.

We booked very short notice (the same morning! ) and arrived that night. The cottage is beautiful, so clean and in a wonderful quiet location. We were welcomed with a bottle of wine just to top it off. Our two kids loved the twin room and the superking was perfect for us. I would highly recommend this for any length of stay. Thank you for such a wonderful time.

This is a lovely comfortable cottage in a nice quiet location.. It is in a great location, very handy to lots of interesting places. Our only niggling complaint was the lack of some basic cleaning materials such as washing up liquid and such like. We ate out a lot and as there was just the two of us we prefer to wash up as we go along and not use a dishwasher. We enjoyed our stay there and would return at some point in the future.

Summer farm cottage is absolutely beautiful, Maggie the owner is a lovely lady who goes out of her way to make you feel at home, a lovely bunch of flowers, a bottle of wine and a ginger cake we’re waiting for us on arrival, which was a lovely touch.. I have stayed in many cottages, but this one was by far the loveliest with lots of attention to detail, it was very spacious, and Maggie makes sure it is cleaned to a very high standard, it was absolutely spotless. I could not find fault with anything and I’m looking forward to returning with my family very soon. Thank you

We stayed here for a week in order to visit the dales. What a wonderful cottage, excellent accomodation and an excellent location. We had all the facilities we could wish for including a welcome homemade cake and bottle of wine. The only neighbours were the horses, chickens and rabbits. It was so lovely and quiet but still within walking walking distance to the local pub which I can also highly recommend. If you book here you will not be disappointed. Thank you Maggie and Jon I could not have booked anywhere better.

The holiday cottage was in a very quiet, peaceful and beautiful location just outside the village of Crakehall. It was a lovely cottage and yet wasn't far from nearby tourist attractions and local facilities. The area is great for walking and looking round the local villages. It is one of our favourite areas for a holiday.

Sceptre Cottage is a beautiful barn conversion situated near Bedale. The property was of a high standard; extremely clean, tidy and well presented. Everything had been catered for, even down to a BBQ, which we used on one of the sunny days! Very good range of leaflets and information supplied so you weren’t short of things to do. The owners were lovely and made us feel welcome; they showed our two boys the lambs in the field, and allowed them to feed the lambs. Our boys visited the lambs every day, (they would have been happy to sleep with them they were so attached!). They also enjoyed seeing the two horses that were in the field out the front of the cottage. All in all, it is an excellent accommodation and highly recommended!

We booked Sceptre Cottage to accommodate far flung family who were visiting us over Easter - they stayed there and we visited them in the day, ate with them, hunted Easter eggs, admired the horses, cooed over the lambs. It is in a delightful setting - unbelievably peaceful, surrounded by fields with views across to the Wensleydale railway line (trains only during the day, feels just like something out of the Railway Children!). The cottage itself is warm and welcoming, and the owners couldn't be more helpful. A massive recommendation to anyone who wants a comfortable and peaceful base in a lovely part of the world. We shall certainly use it again for extended groups of visitors.

We had an absolutely wonderful holiday in a very spacious beautiful cottage.. Being situated at the end of a 1/4 mile drive was perfect, so peaceful. Near enough to the A1 for easy access to and from the cottage, so you did not have mile upon mile of country lanes to get to it, just perfect!

This cottage is a real gem of a find. It is finished to a very high standard and is situated in an idyllic setting. There is plenty of room within the cottage ( we were a party of four adults and one child) and the cottage is ideally situated for exploring the Dales and other parts of Yorkshire. The owners were very welcoming and the baby lambs were a firm favourite with our daughter. We came home today and we are already planning our next visit!!

Will be returning over and over again
