We enjoyed a great 4 nights here in February. The accommodation was good, with lovely underfloor heating, a great shower, and everything needed for our stay. The downstairs rooms are larger than they appear in the pictures. The beds and sofas aren’t super comfy, but are fine for a few nights. The accommodation is in a wonderful old building, under the old chapel. The owner provided free tea, coffee, wine, crisps and biscuits which was a nice touch. We ate every night at the local Gastropub the castle arms inn, just 5 minutes walk down the road, where the food was excellent and really good value. The only slight negatives are that the late check in and early departure times really eat into the stay, and you need to tidy everything up before you leave, which is a condition of the company that runs the rental, but seems strange when you are paying the rent. That aside, a really special place to stay. The owners were very helpful and we will definitely come back if we can.

My wife and I stayed here in August with our dog and we loved it! Very comfy bed, lovely bath/shower facilities and amazing under-floor heating to keep the place toasty all year round. Nice private courtyard are to enjoy in the sunshine, and with Snape Village nearby you're only a short walk from a great pub (the Castle Arms) with gorgeous food. All the kitchen facilities you need to cook home meals, with a good selection of crockery and cutlery to suit your needs. Only minor quibble is that the TV in the lounge is a bit small...though with the area you're in, do you really plan on watching much telly? Despite being a castle you'll also be surprised at how hard it is to find for takeaway delivery drivers...could possibly use a lit sign at night on the roadway, so that they can see 'The Undercroft' clearly from the streetside. But honestly...if you can't find a castle, are you even really looking?! All in, a brilliant venue and one we'd happily go back to in future.

Very pleasant and warm welcome - very clean and comfortable - a welcome bottle of wine, milk and bowl of fruit, very kind thought - no phone signal - need to speak to Sharon if no online connection - TV very poor, control has no tv guide and very few stations.. - very pleasant area - Bedale a very nice village with plenty of cafes - The Old Swan a great pub for meals at very reasonable prices compared to a good many.- Sharon a very kind person willing to help any time.

We really enjoyed our stay at Snape Castle.. The character of the property and surroundings was breathtaking. The host and locals was very accommodating and friendly with a Fantastic amenities both in the castle and the village. The only criticism was the lack of outdoor lighting which proved to be difficult when letting the dog out on an evening and the Internet/TV could do with being updated for the cost of the rental. Aside from that we had a fabulous time in beautiful picturesque surroundings would stay again and recommend to anyone

This is absolutely the best cottage I've stayed in.. We enjoyed every moment of our trip. The area is outstanding easy to visit Ripon, Richmond, and Masham. The rooms were spacious, the furniture was going quality and extremely comfortable. Sharon was very welcoming as was the cat. N Yorkshire was at its best in late summer, green and sunny. If you're on a diet don't visit, because the food in every town was so special and the portions so large you will have to deprive yourself. Special places Appleyards Pork Butchers in Ripon, Kings Head in Richmond, Bay Horse in Masham, and afternoon tea at Swindon Park. Enjoy Fountains Abbey, Middleham castle. We are definitely going to return

We all had a lovely time at The Undercroft at Snape Castle,Lady Sharon Parnaby was there to make us feel very welcome and she is a lovely lady to talkto about the surrounding area .. Snape Castle is well situated for exploring the dales and the Undercroft is spacious and generally a lovely place to stay, we would go back at some point and stay there again as it is in a lovely location with some good restaurants near by and good shops at Bedale which is just up the road.

Lovely accommodations on the ground floor of the castle, in a peaceful and charming tiny village.. The owner, Sharon, was helpful and friendly, available but not intrusive at all, and she made check in easy. You need a car to get around, but the town of Bedale is close and has most of what you need day to day, also some fun spots to nose about. We found our stay restful, with a comfortable bed and adequate (underfloor) heating. Kitchen provided every sort of pan, dishes, and utensils needed, and a large fridge. Our only negative is that the living room is dark, but that is because the castle walls are 3 feet thick and using the original openings for windows to stay true to its historical significance. Overall a wonderful experience and would love to return!
