We had a great mini break, house was spacious and well equipped and in a great location. Garden is large too and would be great in the summer.

Lovely big property with large enclosed garden, perfect location.. Ideal for us, our son and family for a proper family holiday. This is our second visit to Sandy Shore and we all really enjoyed our stay. If publish our feedback please only include the first paragraph. After the Covid lockdown, we felt the owners could have taken the opportunity to maybe refresh the house with a coat of paint in well used areas. We also thought like many have written in the guest book, either replace the tumble drier or put a clothes line up so when returning from the beach clothes could be easily dried. Small points but could make a big difference.

Property was excellent as was the cleanliness, saw no justification for the previous negative review.. We were disappointed that our initial concerns over this review were not addressed by Sykes administration in a timely manner, as we had to chase Sykes for a response to our concerns before receiving assurances that the points raised had been sorted by the owner. In contrast to the Property Management / Housekeeping company who were excellent and very helpful.

Lovely house but in need of a bit of tlc.. A number of recessed light fittings in the bathrooms have dropped with wires showing. Also no instructions for the heating which seemed to have a separate thermostat / system for downstairs. We got something to happen but instructions would have been useful. The biggest issue for us was the lack of hot water. Quite a few cold showers between the four of us, and the second en suite shower was unusable as it seemed blocked. We never got water out of the kitchen taps which was hot enough to wash up in, had to boil a kettle to do this. All of these issues are mentioned in the 'Guest' book so we are not the first to suffer which is disappointing as they could have been sorted out. It was also not wonderfully clean. It looked ok but there was loads of dust/debris down the side of the wardrobe and on divan base ( found when pushing mattress against headboard) in master bedroom. Also in crevices on sofas, skirting boards etc. Sounds picky but this was not a 'cheap' let and the issues were numerous enough to make it feel poor value for money.

Sandy Shore is a lovely spacious house, it is well equipped, the bedrooms were spacious and clean.. There was even a landline telephone that could be used for a small donation. The WiFi connection was very good, a bonus, as mobile signal wasn't the best. The kitchen/diner was large and clean with a washing machine and dishwasher, unfortunately the tumble dryer, in the garage, didn't work. This wasn't an urgent matter as the weather was warm, but it would have been handy for drying toddler/baby clothes. The garden was great for children to play in, but it could have accommodated a rotary airer, as well as the internal airer, which helped. We had a lovely week in Beadnell, it is within easy access of all the lovely places on the Northumbrian coast that we wanted to visit, from Craster up to Holy Island, plus Beadnell Bay is only a few minutes walk from the house and was great for children to play in the sea, or rock pooling when the tide was out. We would recommend 'Sandy Shore' as a lovely comfortable base to explore this beautiful area.

Lovely big property with everything you needed to have a brilliant holiday.. Great location, only minutes away from the beach. Lovely large enclosed garden with outdoor furniture for the whole family to enjoy. We had really good weather, which made it a perfect week for us all.

Sandy Shore is a beautiful, modern, comfortable house in a fantastic location - an easy drive to Alnwick, Lindisfarne and into Scotland.. The beach is a very short walk away and is very clean. The whole area is child and dog friendly and we felt comfortable wherever we went.

We have said here several times now.. Nice to see replacements of carpeting and painting. We always recommend this place to our family and friends well positioned and the bedrooms are great. Sykes Cottages are excellent and we have booked with them again for summer.

Excellent value for money spacious and overall clean.. Just a few details need addressing such most rooms are ready for re decoration due to marks on walls. And stair carpet ready for replacing due to it being thread bare.,and maybe a switch downstairs for outside light or light on a sensor, but overall a really well equipped clean spacious house in a prime postion for beach. Well worth the money and would book it again.

The house is a good size accommodating upto 8 people( we were a group of 4 adults, 2 children plus 1 dog) and we didn't feel in each others pockets.. The house had everything you would need and all domestic' items' are off a good quality, the beds were particularly comfy. As a bonus WiFi was good plus Netflix was a nice touch. The location of the accommodation is excellent for Beadnell bay and Seahouses. We'll definitely be coming back.

As soon as arrived for the week had problems with the electrics.. Had to contact maintenance mobile number but quickly resolved. Then next day had further problems with heating programmer and electrical problem with lights and fan in an ensuite. Had to report it to maintenance people who tried to resolve it as soon as they could. The light in the en suite did not get repaired until our last day but we were able to use other facilities. Nothing was too much trouble for the maintenance firm and felt they tried to resolve as soon as they could. The house was lovely and warm to come back to after being out all day (in October). Well equipped. Very easy to get to beach with small children. The only constructive criticism is that if a dog is on the holiday - the garden really needs either a security light or a light that can be switched on at the back door. Once the dog goes out the door in the evening (October onwards), it cannot be seen all round the garden or where it chooses to toilet ! It is a large garden which is wonderful for the dog but not so good next morning when you have to cover it all 'poo picking' Would definitely recommend to others.

The house itself was fine.. Two observations:- 1) There were some upstairs lights which did not work (on our arrival) plus a bedroom window handle was missing. In my view these things should have been checked and corrected before we got there. We did alert the property person and we were advised that someone would call (on the Monday morning) to deal with the matters. Someone actually called Tuesday PM - the window handle was replaced and the lights were attended to. However, when we came to test the lights on our return to the house they still did not function properly. 2) The information pack (about the house) was mostly in fact a summary of facilities in the surrounding locality. It would have been helpful if a summary of instructions re kitchen equipment, arrangements for bin collection, instructions re TV's and Wi-Fi could have been incorporated into one, handy information pack rather than scattered around in drawers or pinned to a cupboard door. The situation of the house just 5 minutes from the beach was great and I would happily return to Beadnell again. Plus any eating establishments we tried in the area provided excellent service and choice - in Beadnell itself at the Seasalt Café, at Alnmouth at the Sun Inn and at Craster at the main village pub.

The location is great, we knew that in advance as we have stayed on Longbeach Drive before.. The house is very good. There were only four of us so we had bags of room as it sleeps 8 in four bedrooms. The garden is fully enclosed and all grass, nice and large so ideal for dogs. Internet worked seamlessly throughout our stay but the WiFi signal drops out in the main bedroom, not a major issue though. Two points to note. The shower in the back bedroom ensuite does not drain well and floods (it was only used once) it needs a look at. Secondly a chair or stool in the bedrooms would be good. Overall though we had a great time there, it’s a lovely place in a great setting. We would definitely stay at Sandy Shore again.

Sandy Shore, is in a fantastic location and great base for walking and exploring the beautiful Northumberland coastline.. The house is of a good size for a family or group of friends. It could do with some larger pans to help when cooking for a larger number. And more tea spoons. The property could do with some deep cleaning in some areas. But is a good holiday house and would recommend.

March 2018
Although the house was comfortable.. It could have been cleaner. The sitting area in the kitchen could have more comfortable if the TV was on another wall. It would of been better if there had been a washing line to dry clothes on. More mirrors in the bedrooms.

The house was a home from home especially because we were stranded due to heavy snow.. Really warm and cosy with loads of space upstairs, will definitely return and recommend.

Had a great family holiday here..fully equipt with everything you could need during your stay. The beds were the best we've ever slept in in a holiday house. The house was lovely and clean, a real home from home. The enclosed garden was great for the children no worries about them escaping. A short walk brought us to the fantastic Beadnell beach...yes it rained a few days but it didn't stop the fun kids just wore their wet suits to play on the beach. Only two negative points (wouldn't stop us recommending to others or going back ourselves) firstly the hot water was scalding hot...not normally a complaint but we had young children with us! Secondly a travel cot might be a nice addition, it would save parents bringing one and using valuable boot space. All in all a fantastic holiday house!
