Holiday home
The Lookout is terraced cottage on the outskirts of Berwick-upon-Tweed in Northumberland. The cottage sleeps four people in two bedrooms which are made up of a super king-size double which can be a twin on request, and a double room. There is also a bathroom, a kitchen with a dining area, walk-in pantry and a sitting room which both have multi-fuel stoves. Outside there is roadside parking and a front patio with furniture and a barbecue as well as bike storage. The beach is only a 10 minute walk away and the cottage is pet-friendly. The Lookout is an ideal cottage for that long awaited coastal break.

Accomodation Details
Two bedrooms: 1 x super king-size double (zip/link, can be twin on request), 1 x double. Bathroom with bath, power shower over, basin and WC. Kitchen with dining area, walk-in pantry and multi-fuel stove. Sitting room with multi-fuel stove.

Area
Berwick is England’s most northerly town and changed hands 13 times whilst the English and the Scots fought for control of the Borders! Nowadays this small coastal town retains much of its charm, with quaint narrow streets enclosed within great Elizabethan walls - walks along these offer spectacular views over the coast and river estuary.

Region
Northumberland is a heady combination of fishing villages, market towns, sandy beaches, magnificent castles and historic Hadrian’s Wall, tied together by beautiful countryside and abundant wildlife.

Front patio with furniture and BBQ on request. Bike storage. Sorry, no smoking or Pets. Shop and pub 5 mins walk (0.5 miles). Beach 10 mins walk. Note: No children under 10 for insurance purposes. Note: Access to the property is via a shared access pathway. There are a series of gradual low steps (11 in all) going past the front of the neighbour's house with a continuous hand rail to the gate of The Lookout. Please note: this property has a good house keeping bond of £100.

The Lookout is a lovely cottage situated in a place where you have wonderful views from all windows.. The short walk down is very handy to take the dog onto the Green morning and evening. The cottage is spacious, comfortable and warm and cozy. Berwick upon Tweed is a lovely town and we didn’t have to use the car for most of the week. Plenty of walks in the area, and the towns history is lovely. The connection with Lowry is nice and , we didn’t follow the trail so unsure if we found all the pictures, but this will be another holiday to come!. We will definitely be returning to Berwick as there is so much we will need to do that we didn’t due to COVID, and The Lookout is where we will stay.

A delightful, comfortable, cosy cottage with the most amazing views.. A real home from home with everything you could want or need provided by the owner. Great location to explore the coastline of Northumbria and over the border into Scotland. Fantastic dog friendly beaches and plenty of great walks. We returned for a second year and it didn’t disappoint, we had a wonderful week. Thank you Pamela.

Holiday accomodation was excellent, however not impressed with your policies regarding refunds and cancellations reating to Coronavirus.. Sykes has sadly gone way down in my estimations.

We loved every minute of our holiday at The Lookout & would have happily stopped another week.. The views from the cottage are brilliant looking across the estuary to Berwick & also out to sea past the pier & lighthouse which make brilliant photo opportunities due to the changing light & weather conditions. We took our dog Wilf & we basically walked his legs off as there are numerous great walks from the doorstep, Spittle Beach is well worth the short walk too. We hardly used the car as there was so much to enjoy locally just across the bridge into Berwick old town. But if you want to travel then there are plenty of other beaches & harbours to visit. Pamela the owner is very friendly & helpful, she called in with her dog Marley to make sure everything was ok for us & said we could contact her if we had any issues which we didn't need to. So if you like walking & sightseeing with plenty to do without having to use the car & also the peace & quiet too then I recommend The Lookout, we certainly intend to return...Mark, Jill & Wilf the dog...North Lincs.

The cottage is beautiful and very well presented.. We especially loved the two log burners where we could have a real fire during dinner and then one in the lounge when relaxing. It is really close to the beach which is fabulous for a morning walk to watch the sunrise. Well placed for visiting the attractions and the coastal walks are stunning. It is a short walk into the town with lots of lovely shops and places to eat. The views from the cottage are great and it was nice to sit and watch the world go by in such comfort. Would definitely recommend, thanks Pamela for keeping such a lovely place!

Nice cottage in good location but I don't think can really be regarded as pet friendly as the owner seems to have a constant worry about her furnishings and garden and we felt we were walking on eggshells all the time.. There seems to be some ongoing problem with parking as I was harangued by a neighbour who quickly informed me that we should park on the road as the three spaces outside were just for residents. Feel that you are always being watched by the neighbours. The owner texted us twice on the same day to tell to leave rubbish out for collection and wanted to know when we were out so she could come and do the garden. Not a very relaxing honeymoon for us and as we paid £700.00 it was a bit underwhelming.

The Lookout has the most fantastic views from every window.. It's like looking at a different picture on each wall. The cottage is well equipped and extremely comfortable. The bedrooms are enormous. The setting is so peaceful and tranquil and is within easy walking distance to the town and the beach. The supermarket is just at the end of the road. There are so many wonderful places to visit in the area.

What a great cottage.. Fantastic location with wonderfull views of river mouth, sea and Berwick-upon-Tweed old town.Would recommend to anyone.The Cottage is handy for both town, shops, supermarkets ,beaches and local attractions.A very comfortable and good size accommodation and a very nice welcome pack provided to start the holiday off, Well done to both Sykes and the owner for presentation. Very comfortable beds.. Very well appointed kitchen. Generous welcome gifts at start: wine, biscuits, fruit. Lovely location, with a pleasant garden overlooking Tweed estuary. c. 30 minute walk into Berwick or 5 minutes by car. Provision of a free car park permit was very helpful. Good garden furniture. Cosy lounge with comfortable sofas. Quiet location. Needed central heating at times in the evening, as weather was a mixture of warm sunshine and chilly sea fog, and the system worked very efficiently. Easy train ride to Edinburgh from Berwick station.

A lovely, spacious,detatched cottage looking over the river tweed estuary and out to sea. The cottage sleeps four plus one dog, is very well equipped and is in a good position for walking to the beach and into Berwick for the shops,pubs,restaurants or lovely walks around the historic walls and along the pier following the Lowry trail.

The views from the cottage were amazing. Whatever time of year you visit, you would be able to appreciate the lovely coastal scenery because all rooms have windows facing the front with huge window sills you can snuggle up on with a cushion. We have already booked another holiday at The Lookout for next year!
