Area The former harbour town of Annan can be found on the banks of the River Annan, in East Dumfries and Galloway. The town is filed with history as it was once the site of Roman camps and the workplace of the writer Thomas Carlyle, and each year, the town celebrates the Riding of the Marches, in honour of the Royal Charter bestowed by King James V. Within the town you will find plenty of amenities, including pubs, eateries and shops.
