Located inside Lucca’s historic walls, this apartment puts the city’s best sights, shops and trattorias within easy walking distance. Housed in a former cavalry stable, the space is warm and welcoming, with a small patio overlooking the walls – just the spot for a cup of coffee in the morning or a spritz in the evening. It’s worth noting that the second bedroom is on a mezzanine level that’s semi-open to the space below, making it better suited to children, as privacy is limited. There’s also a lively restaurant below, so you may hear some evening buzz at weekends – a small trade-off for such a central, atmospheric base.

*Given the home's central spot, expect to hear some street noise throughout your stay.
*There are fourteen steps leading up to the front door here. It might not be the best option for those with reduced mobility.
*If you're travelling with little ones, your host can provide a cot and high chair for free. You'll need to request them in advance.
*When we visited, there weren’t any basic cooking supplies here – like salt, pepper, and olive oil – so we'd recommend bringing some bits and bobs to get you started. The nearest supermarket for top-ups is a ten-minute walk away.
*The second bedroom is on the mezzanine level and semi-open to the space below, so privacy is limited. Please take care on the stairs, as they’re a little slippery.
*The washing machine and dryer are located in a communal laundry room.
