Location The harbour is the 'centre' of Porlock Weir, which is a 5 minute walk from St Anthony's Cottage. There are two restaurants (Locanda and Porlock Weir Hotel), a pub (The ‘Bottom’ Ship) and a range of individual shops such as tea rooms, and Exmoor Glass. COVID-19 update. As of end of June, only a few of these are open, but this includes Ziangs takeaway and the hotel which has an outdoor bar and pizzeria takeaway. The shop is also serving icecream. Please be sure to check opening hours which are currently limited.
The village of Porlock is approximately 1.5 miles from St Anthony's Cottage and boasts three pubs, two grocery shops, a traditional local butcher, chemist, cash machine, hardware shop, visitor centre and a range of independent restaurants, shops and tea rooms. COVID-19 update. As of end of June, some shops are still closed, but the grocery store, butchers and a number of other shops and takeaways are operating.
Many of the shops in Porlock Weir and Porlock are open during traditional hours of 9 am to 5 pm, although hours are often extended during the summer season. Conversely, some shops also reduce their opening hours out of season.
Minehead is the nearest town, approximately 7 miles from St Anthony's Cottage. Here you will find the larger supermarkets and petrol stations (Tesco, Lidl and Morrison's are both situated on the outskirts of the town and have longer opening hours), most major high street banks with cash machines, plus a range of other shops throughout the town.
