"Charming", "bijoux", and "studio" are honest verbs used by the owner and their agents to describe "The Little Boathouse" but equally "small", "tiny" and "compact" could be used. This review was one of the most difficult I have ever written as so much depends on your interpretation, preferences (eg. Do you like to go out on an evening or stay in?) and expectations of the accommodation from just the photos and description. I could have truthfully given one star or five stars. I would definitely give five stars for location. The photos attached are a view of the harbour with Bamburgh Castle in the background. These photos were literally taken from a bench no more than 30 yards from the property. There are eight public benches by the harbour wall where my wife and I could sit with a drink and watch the sun rise or set. Just paradise. On warm sunny days one can walk in either direction on clean golden beaches to Bamburgh or Beadnell. As for the accommodation, I would give five stars for the shower and the heated towel rail; the television with free access to Netflix and most other channels, and the abundance of coat hangers. The Little Boathouse is clean and the sea-related furnishings and ornaments add to its charm. Unfortunately, the one star I would rate is for the comfort of the bed and the noise from the apartment above, none of which are conducive to a good night's sleep no matter how tired you are from the day's activities. The tiny size of the sink in the bathroom is another annoyance and such a shame had it been possible to fit the toilet on the other side of the shower leaving space for a much larger sink. The overall compactness of the accommodation became more of an issue as our week progressed because we felt it more difficult to relax comfortably on an evening. However, it must be said that the Little Boathouse was one of the most competitively priced properties for two adults in the area given Stay vacation Britain and if your needs are for a good base for exploring the area and can cope with limited comfort, then this is ideal. As for us, pushed to answer the famous "Four in a Bed" question, "Would you stay here again?" our answer is sadly "No".

Where do we start? Hard to find with no parking. No internet /t.v. for over 26 hours. Not the cleanest , we had to wash glasses etc before use. The clothes rail only just stood up if pressed against the wall. The top part of the riser bar in the shower kept coming away from the wall. The shower head spun around with a mind of its own. The flooring in the kitchen area was very uneven . And THE SOFA . It was the most uncomfortable sofa I think I have ever used. The centre of the seat sank in the middle and the front timber dug into the back of your legs.causing your legs and bottom to go numb. We had a very early night and left the next morning cutting short our holiday . We rang the caretaker/ manager to explain why and was blatantly lied to . The owner was contacted by SYKES but has failed to say or do anything?
