This house easily accommodates a large family group with lots of space.. It is situated in a great location for exploring the historical roman sites, walking the wall or spending time in lovely Hexham.
With a friendly local pub just at the end of the road it was easy to get dinner on arrival.
Would definitely book again.

It was a lovely big warm and comfortable house with a pleasant large south facing garden.. It was well positioned for visiting Roman sites and places further afield. The volunteers in the village shop and the local pub landlady were very friendly as were all the local residents that we encountered. It was a lovely environment in which to spend a week, which included attending our son's wedding.

Our holiday cottage was lovely, not only full of character but the cottage was well kitted out with good quality cooking facilities well able to cater for 8 adults.. The pool table was a real bonus. There are several lovely walks from the village of Humshaugh, great for an evening stroll after your meal.
The area itself is perfect for more serious hiking on Hadrian’s wall, etc. Shopping facilities in nearby Hexham are excellent. There are some National Trust properties nearby that are well worth a visit. Morris Dancing at the village pub was another unexpected bonus.
I can highly recommend this stay.

Was a truly magical experience in the snow and although we left a day early due to weather conditions the owners couldn't have been nicer offering extended stay if needed to avoid the treacherous roads.. The village was beautiful and had a fantastic local bar and shop, the proprietors of both being extremely friendly. All in all I'd visit this place again and will continue to use sykes as I always have well into the future.

The accomodation is of very good quality.. It is a roomy, warm welcoming place even on a cold weekend. Bedrooms and living spaces large and attractively decorated. Everything was clean and tidy. Washing up liquid was supplied which is always good plus the bath towels were really superb. A welcoming bottle of wine with some biscuits and tea and coffee were also available in case you forgot to bring your own. Probably the best cottage I've stayed in.
Situated in a pretty village. Handy for the pub, 3 minutes walk, and well located for visiting all the Roman sites

Afety - three of the external doors are fitted with security bolts.. Of these three doors one did not have a key for it so the only option was to lock it using the bolts. This is a safety issue as to use the door for emergency egress would involve operating the bolts which (because the door has warped) was difficult and time consuming. The other two of these doors seem to need replacement bolts because, as well as being stiff to operate, the bolt operating keys slipped in the locks taking several attempts to operate the bolts fully - again this is a potential safety issue. Generally the cleanliness was of a high standard but when we emptied the rubbish bins in the kitchen, on removing the bin liners containing the the rubbish we found the bottom of each bin to be filthy. Neither of the bin liners we used had "leaked" but the accumulation of deposits must have occurred over a few weeks. The deposits were confined to the bottom of the bins and hot water and a light scrub was all that was needed to leave the bins in the state we would have expected to find them.

Holidaying with our grown up family and their partners is such a special time for us, so it's always important to find a property to accommodate 7 of us. East Farm House certainly exceeded our expectations. As we walked into what was to be our home for the next 7 days one word was on our lips 'WOW'! Such a beautiful living area, huge kitchen and immaculate gardens (where we enjoyed at night watching the meteor showers). This is our first visit to Northumberland and we really did find a stunning place to stay in such a beautiful county.

Great location, quiet, but very close to the excellent facilities of the village and to local attractions. Children and adults loved having the pool table. Chairs for sitting out in the garden were appreciated.

A very good property. The facilities were excellent, there was lots of room. It was great in the evening and at meal times as we all, 8 of us, just sat around the kitchen table. All in all we all agreed it was a great spot, with the pub being so close also, for a great weekend.
