Coquet Island - an RSPB reserve with a large population of terns, puffins and eider ducks – is also very close by and boat trips can be arranged.

Mr Ellis, September 2020

Lovely cottage, everything we needed in the cottage.. It's in a very beautiful location. we've had a lovely holiday thank you.

September 2020
Arrangements in advance by email all very good.. The owners came back very quickly with a positive answer we had about bicycle storage in their back yard. The quick answer was much appreciated although in the end we did not take them. The accommodation met our expectations and provided a very useful base for visiting places in the area. During these uncertain (Covid-19) times it was good to see that lots of cleaning products had been left in the house to help us keep the place clean. There was lots to see in the area and all the places we visited were taking sensible and necessary precautions.
Mrs Wood, September 2020

Property is well-situated.. Clean upon arrival and exactly as described. Thank you!

A lovely relaxing comfortable Cottage.. As soon as we walked into it we felt at home immediately. Fabulous location. Everything you need and more this cottage has to offer. We will definitely be returning and hopefully very soon. I would certainly recommend staying there.

I stayed here for new year has everything you need great location few little hiccups so I decided to return for Easter and once again hiccups what has made my decision never to visit again is the follow up treatment ! Was very disappointed in this even to the point of lies ! Place is in need a of deep clean ( cobwebs ) maybe I’m to picky but to say stains on bedding false tan as to try to turn the blame rather than deal with the issues is the reason I shall never visit again. There is plenty other nice properties so don’t stop this from visiting amble as it is a lovely part of the Northumbria coast line and gray location very friendly people just if you stay here make sure you take you dusters

June 2019
Cottage was very well equipped and beds really comfortable.. However, the gas fire probably needs servicing as it was difficult to light and kept blowing out. The area was perfect with lots to see in the town and surrounding area. Lots of pubs, cafes, restaurants and take aways.
Mrs Oakley
May 2019
The cottage or mid terrace house was dark and depressing.. We also had difficulty parking as it was a well used residential street. I have rheumatoid arthritis and as there was no downstairs toilet this was a problem, also shower over bath, as had difficulty getting in and out. However we loved the area and spent as little time as possible at the property. After the lovely accommodation we had at Chepstow last September we found this property very disappointing.

Lovely house, very clean, well maintained and very well equipped.. Very close to town centre and short walk to marina. I have recommended to friends and I will be booking again in the near future.

Comfortable cottage in Amble.. Clean, tidy and well kept with lots of useful kitchen equipment. Beautiful beaches and interesting places to visit in Northumberland - fantastic castles!
Mrs Long
July 2018
Very comfortable house.. The map showing where it is in the town was misleading but that didn't really matter because locals were so friendly and helpful. One minor point, though we don't see how it can be reasonably changed, was the difficulty we had using the shower. Our daughter had no difficulty, but my husband and myself could not turn the knob to turn the shower on. We are both over 80 and our wrists are not as strong as they used to be. Just something to look for when arranging the letting. Lovely friendly local people.
Mrs Hazelwood

Coquet Cottage was ideally situated in Amble - close to all amenities and nearby locations to visit..

Beautiful village.. Will definitely return to Northumbria.

April 2018
The house was clean if a little dark and tired.. The position of the house was poor with no real outside space.
Mrs Jarman
March 2018
Warmest cottage we’ve ever stayed in.. Loved the way they had kept old features to enhance property. Really good basa
Mr Jones
March 2018
The house was very comfortable and clean, with everything we required.. It's situated on a quiet street and near to all the ships, pubs and eating places. The only drawback was that there weren't towels in the double bedroom. Nice place.
Ms Lawton
September 2017
Good location and facilities.. Just to let you know the directions to the house are out of date and do not take into account the one way system in Amble.
Mrs Walker
September 2017
Everything ran smoothly
Mr Douglas
June 2017
Very enjoyable.. We were in the area to fish and the premises were ideal and in the right location for this purpose. Unfortunately the weather was against us for the first few days. This gave us the opportunity to visit many sites in what is a beautiful county. The only downside is that the property was booked for 4 adults although only 2 were able to go due to illness. We will no doubt visit Amble again next year and would certainly consider Coquet Cottage again.
Miss Richmond
April 2017
Lovely, clean, warm and well equipped house.. Comfortable beds and one of the few cottages, that we have stayed at, with good mirrors and lighting for make-up/shaving. Excellent base for local attractions and good restaurants. Small back yard with plants in pots and bench, which gets the sun in the afternoon. No space for children to play in yard. People with mobility problems may find steepness of stairs and step arrangement from bedrooms to bathroom awkward, especially at night. The house is on a quiet street but there is no off-road parking and parking is at a premium, especially on Sundays! We enjoyed our stay and, judging by the comments in the visitor's book, so have many others!
Mr Elgnowski
April 2016
Everything was great! We felt at home, warm, quiet, cosy and well equipped. Amble, Alnwick, Dunstanburgh, Morpeth etc. are great locations that are worth visiting.
Mrs Sear
August 2015
The cottage was very comfortable and well appointed with everything we needed. The location was excellent, within walking distance of everything in the town and a good base for touring. We would certainly consider returning.

A well situated and appointed cottage, would return. Amble is a lovely place to visit. Well placed for all Northumbria's attractions.
Mr Smith
February 2015
A lovely stay, we wanted for nothing. Brill!

April 2014
Very comfortable property that was well located for travel around the North-East. Parking outside is hit or miss but there is always somewhere on the street. Well looked after and very warm and inviting property. Lots of room for families. Had a great stay Thank you.

October 2013
Convenient situation for restaurants, take-outs, shops, beautiful vistas, castles, harbours, beaches, quaint villages, pubs, farms - an artist's paradise! Did lots of paintings!

We booked through the owner who advertises this cottage on their own website. It is quite a large terraced house, rather than a cottage, with large sitting room, dining room, bathroom and a tiny kitchen downstairs. Upstairs is another bathroom with shower and three good sized bedrooms. As such useful for a family stay. When you enter the house it feels like you are staying in a friends house for the week rather than an upmarket holiday rental. It has everything you need, but don't expect a conventional oven - the space for one is taken over by a washing machine / dryer and a dishwasher - probably more use when you are on holiday, and there are two combination micro ovens to make up for this. I feel the description of the 'garden' is misleading as it has a tiny tiny yard, mostly occupied by wheelie bins. If you want outdoor space then head down to the Harbour instead! A previous comment is that you could feel the springs in the bed - what I think you feel are the buttons in the mattress which do give the impression of a somewhat lumpy bed, however saying that we slept really very well on the bed - I have a bad back which does not react kindly to a poor bed and it did not give me any jip at all! Most of the rooms are nicely decorated, but I do think the bathroom and kitchen could do with updating to improve the impression of the house. We thought Amble was a great location, more unspoilt than Seahouses, and it provided us with a great base for touring. I think the house is good value.

We enjoyed the actual town of Amble and the cottage was handy for the town. It was also a very quiet relaxing holiday for us which was exactly what we were looking for.

....the Victorian/gothic style doesn't lend itself to bright and comfortable. The kingsize mattress needs changing, as feeling its springs in your side was so uncomfortable that we put the duvet on top of the mattress, which helped, and slept with 2 single duvets from the other bedroom. The fusty smell of the bedding was evident for a couple of nights. Some surfaces in the bedroom were quite dusty. Mind you, the house has lots of stuff to dust! The massive, gothic style, bed footboard(?) is so big that you have to be careful squeezing between it's pointed corners and the wall to get in it. Much better if it were a divan. (and no, I'm not that fat - not now, anyway!). At the other end of the bedroom a very large easy chair prevented easy access to the drawers of the wardrobe and the central mirror of which doubles as a very in-effective dresser, with no stool, as there is no dressing table (or stools) in ANY of the bedrooms so doing your hair is very awkward. (my wife does hers EVERY day....yawn!) The TV up on the bedroom wall was a bit small but OK if you don't mind a cricked neck. The bathroom is a decent size but the elecric shower's lack of volume is only adequate at best. There are TWO extending shaving mirrors...excellent...I could position them such that my bald bit was clearly visible - first time I've ever easily seen it! :) The towels are on the small side and although there is a radiator in there you can't use it to dry the towels on as its got a shelf on it. The dining room is a good size, with a big table, as is the lounge, which has a nice open coal effect gas fire, although the decor and heavy drapes to the smallish window made it a bit dark. The compact kitchen has electric hob and large effective microwave/halogen oven. All our meals apart from breakfast we had out. Locally, I can highly recommend the food (and wine) at the Wellwood Arms within easy walk. (it also has free wifi). The pub owners also own the recommended Zecca's restaurant on the other side of the street.

It did not take too long to get there and we could get all over Northumberland easily by car or public transport. Amble is very picturesque and an ideal base from which to explore.

I think the property is in an excellent location for touring about. I think a little under priced for the size of property.

September 2012
The Cottage was very spacious and well equipped (there were three adults). We were very happy with the furnishing and layout of the house and it fitted all our requirements. The cottage was well situated for shops, restaurants and take-a-ways within walking distance of the cottage. It was a little further from the sea than we expected but the area was reasonably flat which suited a disabled person. The cottage was also central to Northumberland for exploring the area by car. The garden was very small and would be a squeeze to accommodate a full household.
Mr Almond

Close to eating places and takeaways and central for exploring the area.
Mrs Alden

My husband and I with 3 late teens daughters came to stay and despite the terrible weather we had a wonderful week, the cottage is lovely with a warm and homely feeling and very comfortable. Amble is a good location for exploring Northumbria we visited Seahouses, Bamburgh, Alnwich Castle and Gardens which is a must for anyone in the area, we even went to Beamish which was another fantastic day out. All in all would definately recommend cottage and area

We had a lovely week in amble which was partly down to the location of the house and the house itself. The owners have clearly tried to make it something special and it was equipped with everything we needed. Before we arrived we were provided with clear directions so it was easy to find and always easy to park nearby. We would definitely recommend it to friends and we hope to be back ourselves sometime.
Mrs Mansfield
