Mr Jefford
September 2020
Such a lovely cottage - exceptionally clean, well thought out layout and facilities, excellent kitchen, lots of nice touches, enjoyed the welcome prosecco and flapjacks - perfect location for walking - owner was really nice.. Will return.
Mr Jefford, September 2020
August 2020
The cottage is full of character, reflecting it's original use as a stables with some fine, smooth hardwood that is in the shape of parts of a stable, beams, and even a saddle on the wall adds a sense of its past.. The range is of a higher spec than would be expected of a holiday let and the kitchen well equipped. Situated where it is, this cottage would be ideal as a base for the three peaks, with one view from the road showing the cottage and Penyghent in the background. But there are lots of alternative days out nearby. The owners have carefully tended beautiful flower baskets around the outside of the property. This is a dog friendly home away from home, but is none the less kept clean and tidy.

Rearranged excellent cottage when booked one was unavailable at short notice.. Great cottage, well served by owners. Prosecco and milk in the fridge and homemade flapjack when we arrived. Would be great for a longer stay, with good storage options leaving the living spaces clear.

Fantastic cottage, great location, good view from front (hills) and back (churchyard), spotlessly clean, well-furnished, comfortable, convenient parking.. The only slight downside is that the Wifi connection isn't great.
Mr Rampton, October 2019

We enjoyed a lovely relaxing stay in this gorgeous cottage.. It was perfect for a peaceful weekend away.

Everything was great, the only thing we could fault was the wifi which was slow and maybe the signal would be better if the modum was placed in the main part of the house and not in the garage? The barn is amazing and quirky, in beautiful surroundings and handy for the 3 peaks, we would certainly recommend this property.
Mrs Fretwell, September 2019
August 2019
Absolutely loved our stay at this lovely cottage.. It was the perfect stay for doing the Yorkshire 3 Peaks challenge as we could start from our door step. They have a good number of cooking utensils so we were able to make roast and all our meals without a glitch. The cling film was also very handy! The dog bed, towel and biscuits were such a lovely touch. We would definitely recommend!

The stables is a beautiful little retreat.. It is actually more spacious than the pictures give it credit for. The kitchen was really well stocked and we found the washing machine really handy as we were staying for a weeks hiking holiday. Would definitely recommend.

February 2019
We loved this cottage.. An excellent start with the welcome goodies, and a lovely place to stay and relax. the kitchen was very well equipped and we loved the fact that the cottage was warm - in February it can be chilly in some properties, but not here. A fabulous base for walkers or those wanting to explore the Dales by car. The cottage is on a side road close to the road through the village, but we weren't disturbed by any noise from the road. Parking is in a space directly opposite. The photos don't do it justice, there is a lot of space in this cottage and we liked the extra sitting area upstairs. There are lots of books, maps and info about the area. The owners really understand what makes a luxury cottage.

We stayed at the Stables for 1 week on the 24th Aug 2018.. It was one of the best cottages we have stayed in, it was clean and had lots of home comforts. There was a bottle of prosecco on arrival and some lovely home baking along with lots of other little touches. Its a perfect location for doing the three peaks which we completed over the course of the weekwith our 2 Children aged 7 and 9 and 2 Border Collies. The dogs also enjoyed their little treats too!! Thank you for making our stay an enjoyable one.

The cottage and its facilities were excellent.. The location was perfect for exploring the area. The owner made us feel very welcome

July 2018
We have stayed at The Stables previously, which is why the cottage did not exceed our expectations.. The cottage is beautiful and homely with many luxurious touches, but we feel that it is a little misleading to list it as being in a 'peaceful location' as it is but a stone's throw from the busy B6479 which, although relatively quiet during the evening and night, becomes very noisy from 6 am onwards on weekdays with lorries going to and from Horton quarry thundering past and a steady flow of other traffic and numerous motorcycles at weekends. There are also times when visitors to the cottage may also be woken early by parties of walkers attempting the Three Peaks challenge. On a previous visit, we watched 800 walkers going past (from 5 am onwards) which we found entertaining, but which could have annoyed others. We feel that the cottage would benefit from a full-length mirror, a bread bin and clear instructions for operating the cooker. Otherwise, a fantastic holiday can be enjoyed at The Stables, and we would definitely visit again.

The Stables is a beamed quaint holiday home with plenty of space and well fitted with all you need to enjoy your holiday.. The owners added extra touches which made us feel very welcome. In a lovely position next to the church and fields of lambs.

What a fantastic cottage.. Lots of little extras included like towel and biscuits for dogs, milk, home baking and wine on our arrival. Stables is a quirky cottage with lots of character and so comfortable. We had a great time and hope to return in the future.

Lovely little cottage in the Yorkshire Dales.. Just as pictured. Great location and easy to find. Owners very thoughtful - had the heating on before we arrived, milk in the fridge and chilled Prosecco out. Extra special thanks for bringing us milk during the 'Beast from the East' horrid weather. Meant we didn't need to drive on the worst day!

The Stables is an amazing place to stay with beautiful views of Pen-y-Ghent from the huge kitchen window. The cottage is unique, having been converted from former stables and is on three levels. All the rooms are very comfortable and warm, lots of board games to play with the children. Superb place to stay, will tell everyone about it and we will hopefully be back next year.

Had a fantastic week, great design and layout, and lovely and warm. What a difference were the owner lets you control the temperature by room thermostat, and not have any silly times pre- set. Kids( both aged 30 !!!) came up to visit over the weekend, and we all had great time. Playing board games, in spacious kitchen, into the ‘wee small hours’. Great walks for ourselves and dogs, Grange over Sands , and Ingleton waterfall trail, well worth a visit. Lovely and comfortable beds, and pretty much everything you wanted in spacious kitchen.

The cottage was very warm and cosy, which it needed to be as we had snow on our first night, and it is in a beautiful location. It was in a great position for local walks. The different levels and the churchyard outside the rear windows added to its unique character. The bedrooms bathroom and sitting room were well appointed and the free WiFi was great as three of our group could not get a mobile signal but were able to FaceTime family over the weekend. I would recommend for friends or a family holiday, although we were only there for a weekend there is a lot to do in the local area so would love to have been able to stay for longer. The owners were very helpful when contacted.

The cottage was so roomy, our two sons are 21 and 15 and are very tall, so having so much space was great. It was very comfortable and the little extras were so welcome. The views of the hills were beautiful and because it was so comfortable we didn't mind when we had to stay in because of the rain.

The standard of the cottage was lovely, furnished to a very high standard and had lots of beautiful finishing touches. I have never been away in cottage on my own before with friends and I did not need to bring a thing with me other than wine! The bedrooms were lovely, the beds were so comfy and the bathroom was huge with a fabulous bath. The kitchen and the living room were also great and we literally did not want to leave when the end of our stay came! Loved it so much! Thank you for a fab stay!

What a great place! A real home from home with everything you need for a great holiday away from it all. Walking is literally on your door step with plenty to do. The dog loved the steam across the way (we couldn't keep him out) and was very useful to get him clean after a day's walk. Would definitely come again and highly recommend this cottage to all.

A stunning, cosy little rustic cottage tucked away in the Dales. A perfect base for exploring the surrounding countryside. The cottage is to a very high standard. We've stayed in a lot of different cottages but this has to be one of the best. Its low beams and quirky layout adds to the rustic feel. We chose this property as we wanted to take our dogs on holiday with us. Although this is a pet friendly cottage, the cleanliness is to a very high standard. Would highly recommend this cottage!
