Set in the heart of Richmond, a Georgian market town brimming with shops, restaurants and quirky boutiques, there is plenty to see and do nearby. Walk to the 11th century castle and learn all about the area's past, before treating yourself to a bite to eat in one of the many eateries. A wander around the old cobbled market square is a must, as is a cup of real Yorkshire tea. Known as the gateway to the Dales, Richmond is encompassed by gorgeous scenery. Go for a picnic alongside the River Swale or for a day of family fun, visit the excellent Forbidden Corner, only 14 miles away. Dating back to the 18th century, this property has lots of original charm. Accessed from the cobbled Georgian promenade, you will immediately enter a hallway with period tiling. From here, the lovely lounge awaits. With great views over the cobbled street outside, the lounge boasts a delightful mix of classic and contemporary and a great space to unwind. Delve into the pages of a book, turn on the Smart TV or play a classic board game together; the cosy sofas and toasty wood burner make this room hard to leave however you pass the time. To the rear of the cottage, you will come to the kitchen/diner. Here, feature Inglenook fireplace surround, and a central dining table takes pride of place. With attractive, traditional themes, you can cook up a feast in this homely space and make use of the range of appliances and equipment available. These include a ceramic hob, fridge and handy dishwasher in the kitchen, as well as a washer, dryer and freezer in the property's outhouse. Upstairs are all of the bedrooms. Featuring two doubles and a twin (which can also be set up as a king size), everyone can look forward to restful nights' sleep. Also upstairs is the family bathroom, home to a bath with overhead shower. For sunny mornings and balmy evenings, there is a tiered secret garden style area outside. Split over several levels, the garden eventually gives rise to the castle walls and provides an enchanted space in which to enjoy a brew or glass of wine. With a choice of seating areas, you can sit in the shade or sprawl out in the sunshine. There is also a BBQ ready for budding chefs to fire up a feast. Please note, due to the number of steps the garden it is not suited to those with reduced mobility and children must be supervised. As with most Richmond cottages, there is no off road parking, a small price to pay for a location within 30 seconds of the Market Place. There is parking available close by, and you can pull up to the front door of Castle & Cobbles to unload.
