Area The delightful Dales village of Appletreewick is set in a picturesque part of Wharfedale, just 9 miles north of the popular market town of Skipton. Its single steep street climbs from Low Hall at one end to High Hall at the other, and the surrounding meadows and pastures merge with wooded hillsides and bracken clad valleys to make wonderful walking countryside. The many scenic walks include the Dales Way following the banks of the River Wharfe, whilst the nearby Parceval Hall Gardens offer woodland walks and quiet gardens with glorious views of Simon Seat. Appletreewick boasts two pubs and an unassuming little church which was converted from three cottages! A sleepy little village with great Dales appeal, Appletreewick makes a perfect base for a memorable holiday.
Region From heather-clad moors and limestone scars, to market towns and the steady pace of country life - the sublime Dales await you! Where else in Britain is it as satisfying to sit and do nothing as it is to explore the numerous pursuits on offer?

A lovely cosy cottage.. Lots of extras provided such as wood for the log burner, dishwasher tabs, utensils for barbecue. Guidebooks and maps of the area were also appreciated. Despite a warning in the arrival pack about poor WiFi in the house, we found it to be excellent with good coverage and speed. The village of Appletreewick is lovely and well provided with 2 good pubs both doing food. The New Inns is dog friendly inside too. A great place to enjoy and explore Wharfedale and the Yorkshire Dales. We had a wonderful time!

Fellside Cottage is comfortable, attractive and well provided with all you might need for a family or a small group of friends (like us).. It is not only in a very pretty village with gorgeous hills all around but the house itself is prettily situated with well kept gardens in front and behind. We also had a very good meal one evening at the Craven Arms in the village.

Lovely cottage in beautiful surroundings and enjoyed a fabulous holiday in spite of unpleasant experience with the owner.. Unfortunately we were let down by the owner who'd promised to supply us with kindling for the wood burner which they mention in their advertisement. (We'd only had enough for the first evening we were there and the second evening there was none left and we couldn't make a fire. The owner called us to let us know that she was getting her cleaner to deliver some the next day). Unfortunately we returned exhausted from an 8 mile hike that evening looking forward to making a lovely fire to find that the kindling hadn't been delivered.
We called the owner to find out what had happened. Her explanation was that her cleaner had 'let her down' and the only thing she could suggest was that we drive out to a place called Threshfield around 5 miles away and buy some kindling ourselves! This was around 7.30 in the evening!
When we pointed out that we'd travelled from Suffolk to stay there she said in quite a haughty voice that she'd try and ring the cleaner again and get him to deliver some the next day.
Thankfully when we returned from another long walk the next day the kindling had been delivered. That evening the owner called us to make sure the kindling had been delivered and apologised for letting us down - which we greatly appreciated. The owner then asked us if everything else was alright. - As it happened that morning we'd tried to use the only can opener provided which unfortunately was useless and I'd nicked my hand on the tin trying to use it. - So in answer to her question we apologised for perhaps sounding 'picky' but mentioned the can opener. To which she suggested we go next door to the neighbour and borrow theirs!! When we said that we didn't really want to do that - she again replied in an extremely haughty tone of voice: 'Oh well I'm sorry you're having such a dreadful time' - and PUT THE PHONE DOWN ON US!! Really?
This unhelpful and quite frankly - hostile attitude from someone who has decided to provide a holiday facility to people we feel is totally unacceptable - especially when their holiday makers have travelled so far to stay and paid handsomely for the privelege.
It's a shame about the owner's attitude because we would potentially have re-booked here but suffice to say we'll be staying somewhere else next time.

Beautiful spot, picturesque village, cottage had sufficient facilities for our needs, hiking on the doorstep with the mallam circular hike within easy reach, good food at the craven arms although a couple of quid over the top on pricing, must visit grassington and the lychee chinese at skipton excellent..

Good cottage in a lovely village.. Parking for 3 cars is too tight (or not clearly marked where 3rd car can go?) and although garden area is fenced in, there are open walkways from the house to the garden where children or dogs could escape. That apart, we had a great week and would happily book again if in the area.

Heating system was baffling, and had to be reset every hour.. Alternative was to phone and have it set remotely, which was not really practical.

An absolute home from home in every possible way. A surprisingly well equipped cottage with everything you could possibly require. Had very modern furnishings fixtures and was very roomy comfortable for adults and children. Very quiet and peaceful location. Thrilled with the wood burner and there was plenty of wood/coal/kindling to create plenty of ambient fire. The house was warm and dry, the shower and bath hot and comfortable. Absolutely faultless. We were made to feel very welcome from the owners, great communication.

Fellside was absolutely fantastic, fabulous location, cosy, spotless and everything you need. The views from all windows were beautiful and we loved it. We met up with family and they were very impressed and want to book again for next year. The local pubs, 5 minutes walk, were welcoming and within easy reach for Skipton and Grassington, the dogs loved it too and enjoyed many walks by the river. Fellside is a must!
