Excellent place to explore Whitby from.. Parking is a nightmare but that is Whitby for you! When I go to whitby I like to park my car, leave it be then explore and get back in the car at the end of the holiday. Pity train fare is not cheaper so car can be left at home.

We felt really at home.. Well-maintained property, clean and comfortable, with everything in excellent working order. It's right in the centre of our favourite part of Whitby, yet tucked away from traffic and crowds. The parking permit was a great bonus. Will definitely come again.

Had a brilliant stay in this lovely cottage.. It is in a great hidden away location but still very close to both the town and beach. It had everything we needed, was very clean and the decor is so lovely and welcoming. We would recommend this as a place to stay for sure and we will be returning.

Having just spent a great week at this cottage we were so impressed by the accommodation. In past bookings the actual accommodation has not always lived up to the description but this time it surpassed it. The cottage is so well furnished with very tasteful decor and furniture. A lovely bathroom with a shower that doesn't go hot and cold, a kitchen with everything needed including sharp knives! We enjoyed lovely quiet nights in a bed that was perfect. A good fish and chip shop and a bakers 2 minutes away was brilliant and 5 mins to the harbour, what more could you ask for?. The owners have really set a standard that others should follow, you won't be disappointed.

The advert stated you got a parking permit be which we did, however I assumed parking would be available outside the property.. The advert did say first come first served but this was not explained fully as I had to find a parking space, eventually 10 minutes away. If we were staying as a couple this would have been fine but with a baby and everything you need to bring with you caused us a little stress. In particular, our holiday was cut short, as check out 10am, we had to pick up car while husband stayed with baby and dog, packed the car in order to vacate the property but we had no energy to try find another suitable space so ended up going home! Effectively we lost a day off the end of our holiday. Cottage was lovely, very clean, great location but not really big enough with a baby, pram, cot etc. They did provide cot, highchair and stairgate, for which we were grateful, and also biscuits were a nice touch. I feel parking situation spoilt it for us, Whitby is not great for big cars!

We really enjoyed our stay at the store rooms in the very centre of Whitby but yet being secluded from the through traffic and less than two minutes to the shops harbour there were walks for our little border terrier nearby the cottage was excellent we hope to come again Many thanks..

This was our second visit to the Store Rooms.. We returned to enjoy the recent Fish and Ships festival in Whitby and the central location of the accommodation made it an ideal choice for us to experience the hustle and bustle of the harbour and then return to the peace and quiet of the cottage situated in a quiet area. The accommodation itself has everything you need and is clean and comfortable. We travelled by train as we knew that once we were there we didn't need to use the car and parking in Whitby can be difficult. We found the local buses an excellent way to get further afield. We would definitely recommend The Store Rooms and Whitby and hope to return ourselves very soon.

Nice little Cottage Was fine for couple and pet dog.. Hot water for shower was nt so hot. Very steep stair but ok if you kept hold of banister Parking . No spaces as already taken. Needs a better chart indicator where to get parked. Ended up going to a private park and paid £8 per 24 hours. Very central,so ideal for walking the dog

We reaĺly enjoyed our stay at the Store Rooms.. It is very well located centrally in Whitby. The upstairs living area is very bright and airy and everywhere was very clean. As others have said parking nearby can be tricky but it is usually possible to find an appropriate space not too far away. The washing machine was not working properly during our visit but we are sure this will be sorted out by the owners. XXXXX Owner Response XXXX The owner is glad that you enjoyed your stay and has confirmed that the washing machine would not work due to the previous cycle that had not been allowed to finish completely. Therefore a new programme couldn't be started before the previous cycle was completed.

Despite the hilly nature of Whitby the Store Room is located in a convenient, quiet cul-de-sac and everything the town has to offer is within a reasonably short walking distance.. There are numerous paths and alleyways nearby which lead to all points of the compass and for those visiting Whitby for its famous fish and chips, a takeaway or restaurant is never more than a few minutes away, as are the panoramic views that Whitby offers. The Store Room is very comfortable, well equipped and an ideal base for 2 to 3 people but I can imagine parking may be problematic in high season as there was only ever one space available outside the cottage which required some manoeuvring to get into. An enjoyable stay.

Cottage is beautiful.. Booked last minute - quite expensive for two nights - no short break offers which was a shame. very convenient for everything. Well equipped. Spotlessly clean. Would recommend.

Located close to all amenities, excellent accomodation for a couple but there is a comfortable sofa bed in the upstairs living area, which suited our party of 3 plus dog.

Close proximity to town & harbour, little bit difficult to find , but worth the effort, parking could be a problem in height of season ! !!!!!

August 2016
Cottage was comfortable and well lit.. I particularly liked the velux windows upstairs. Upstairs toilet was an added bonus (not mentioned in the listings). Parking was tricky especially getting out of the narrow road. Bed was a little on the soft side. The reasons I would not rebook the property are that it was a Friday-Friday let which was inconvenient and the parking difficulties. .

We came for a short break, having been to Whitby regularly for many years. This is the first time we had booked a Sykes cottage. The cottage has been beautifully done with Laura Ashley styling everywhere. Little touches like a pint of milk in the fridge and Botham biscuits as a welcome make it a home from home. We had a struggle when we arrived to unload our luggage as the advertised parking is non existant. For the four days we were here the same cars were parked outside with residents parking permits in the windscreens. One couple even go to the extreme of swopping their cars over when the other goes out just so they do not lose their space. If you come to Whitby just be prepared for the parking permit hell that Scarborough CC have implemented. The cottage, once settled in, provides the perfect base for exploring the town. Steep paths are Whitby and you are a short trot to pubs and restaurants but the cottage is tucked away so that you do not get disturbed by any late night revellers which many of the other cottages would suffer from. I would definately recommend this cottage. However I feel Whitby is losing the quaint seaside feel I fell in love with for a more uncaring consummerism.

A superb cottage decorated and equipped to a very high standard. The lovely deep bath, hot shower and good water pressure were the icing on the cake. The cottage was perfectly placed for all of Whitby's attractions, bars and restaurants. The parking permit was a definite bonus! I can't recommend the place highly enough.
