Step into the lounge where the light spills in through the large bay windows, and get cosy on the sofa in front of the statement fireplace. If you brought back a fillet of fresh hake from the chippy, then you’re welcome to enjoy it in the dining room, but we’d advise heading out into the sunny courtyard to get an extra dose of vitamin d.

As this home is on the west side of Whitby, use the swing bridge to cross into the east where you’ll find mediaeval streets, boutiques, and shops. When you’re not at the beach, or taking in the ruins of the cathedral, compete at the arcade – loser buys the ice cream.
