I Loved the place - the fire & all the funny quirky objects & interesting way the place had been furnished - obviously an artistic creative & loving hand had overseen the place- creating a relaxed homely & stimulating atmosphere - Where I and my family could relax enjoy & make some wonderful memories .. So appreciated in this day & age to beable to find a place in the centre of the town full of heart & cheer - where we could unwind & connect with a real fishing town in a real Yorkshire cottage - would love to return ❤

The cottage was lovely.. Very cosy and clean and with everything you could need. I especially loved the open fire and the quirky little touches around the cottage - beautiful seaside decor and cute ornaments to discover in the rooms. Location-wise, this cottage is absolutely perfect, as it is right in the middle of Whitby but in a peaceful location. There are shops right on the doorstep but you wouldn't know you were in the middle of a bustling town, as the ginnel down which the cottage is located affords some welcome peace and privacy after a busy day out exploring.

The cottage did not feel like being in a holiday home as had such a homely feel to it, comfortable and filled with quirkiness in every room.. Perfect location right in middle of the town. Will definitely return in the future.

TV reception was not always good, picture often 'broke up' Bath looked good, but having the shower over the bath was not ideal as not much room to move without the shower curtain getting in the way.. Heated towel-rail is too close to the wall, making it very difficult to hang towels on it. (These are not criticisms, just observations, as we really enjoyed our stay at Inglenook Cottage!)

Thoroughly enjoyed Whitby for a third time.. Cottage was very central, so parked the car up in the car park in Silver Street and walked. We found lovely little bistros off the main thoroughfare and sat enjoying the sunshine with prosecco!

Great location of cottage, and directions received were perfect (not the easiest to find as it's down an alley).. You can't park directly outside the property as it's down an alley, and can only park on the main road for 1 hour from 9-6(roughly) during the day. From November-February you can park for free 5 minutes away, either up near the whale bone or across the swing bridge. Otherwise all day parking seemed to be at least £9/day at council car parks. The cottage was very cosy, with lots of little ornaments everywhere and extra little touches (e.g. sewing kit in the bedroom, first aid kit, mirror in the kitchen etc.). The cottage was mostly clean, although we did sometimes find some dog hairs when we dropped items behind chairs etc. There were also quite a few drawers with emergency items in (e.g. spare light bulbs, plug extensions) which was great. There was only two of us, but we did find the property quite small so couldn't imagine 4 of us. The table in the living room for eating would have to be pulled out for 4 people to eat, and there wouldn't be much room for plates. The kitchen doesn't really have enough storage space for a lot of food, but there is a co-op and lidl within walking distance, so really you could just buy food as and when you needed it. The cottage itself is also low on storage - there are a lot of hidden areas/locked doors that could potentially be used for extra storage, but weren't available for use whilst we stayed there. The bathroom situation is also a bit peculiar, as the shower is for rinsing of hair/bath only, and so I can only imagine that the cottage is expecting up to 4 people have a bath each day which seems like a lot of trouble. Wasn't a problem for just the two of us though. We did have problems flushing the toilet though several times. As mentioned above, there are shops within walking distance but items to note that you will need are: toilet roll (only provided with one roll), shampoo/shower gel, extra fire wood if you plan on using the fire more than once.

The cottage is wonderful and central to everything and a 2 minute walk to the harbour.. The cottage is lovely and clean and is exactly as advertised and the open fire really makes it!! Would definitely return.

A shower that can be used would have made a huge difference.. Having a shower to rinse your hair or rinse out the bath is a waste of time. The cottage was spotlessly clean and comfortable.

The cottage had everything I needed and was in a good central position.. The beds were comfortable and we all slept well. We liked the mouse theme and added a mouse ornament. The only drawback was the request not to have a stand up shower as in hot weather a shower is refreshing.

August 2016
Whitby is a great place with very clean beaches and some real quirky eateries. Inglenook is ideally located to enjoy all this. Sadly however I have to post my first ever negative review (on any site) because the owners should invest some money and address the following points, also until then I hope it helps the next people to align their expectations - 1) Review your cleaners, it was not the cleanest we've been in, items of clothing from previous tenants, mouldy bread in the bread bin (first time we stop in a cottage with no greeting of wine or food) 2) The double bed has a disposable non-breathable Tyvek type mattress protector, which induces a sweaty slumber. 3) Second bedroom, light connection box I doubt would pass an electrical safety test 4) Broadband is non-router based (cellular BT network) so you cant use your smart dongles to pick up Netflix. 5) Sofa is tired, I'm afraid to say Sorry if this appears to be a rant but I have photos to back all of this up and I left out some other minor things. I sincerely wish the owners well and hope they could make some investment to bring the cottage back up to a suitable standard. Maybe we have been very lucky with previous holiday lettings and I am being unfair, in that case I apologize.

Inglenook Cottage was very old, homely and interesting. There was nothing we needed that wasn't supplied. It is based right in the centre of the town and a few minutes from the harbour. As it is down one of the 'secret' alleys it was very quiet. Although there was no outside space this wasn't a problem as there is a little park a few moments up the hill for exercising our dog. Whitby is the most dog welcoming place we've ever been to. We're looking forward to returning.

A lovely, clean and homely cottage with bags of character, from the beams to the inglenook fireplace. Situated in the middle of town on the west bank close to shops and pubs but tucked away down a tiny ginnel making it a quiet little retreat. On 3 floors, lounge with eating area and small kitchen on ground floor, double bedroom and bathroom with bath on 1st with further large bedroom with twin beds up the winding stairs in the attic. We stayed over a stormy winter weekend and it was warm and cosy in the cottage. Very much recommended for a visit.

December 2015
Inglenook Cottage had a very authentic feel, and was exceptionally cosy. The location of the cottage, situated in Whitby town centre, was brilliant for getting to shops and restaurants. All our needs were catered for and the facilities were all in good working order. Loved the country cottage style sink and the kitchen worktops. It was great to curl up on the sofa with some friends and just relax.

We loved staying in this charming cottage. Everything we could need was provided for and we wanted for nothing. Furnishings were tasteful and comfortable and the bed was wonderful. Kitchen/bathroom were well equipped and clean. A great base for exploring Whitby and North Yorkshire right in the middle of town with all amenities at walking distance.

We thoroughly enjoyed our weeks stay in Inglenook Cottage. All our needs were catered for in this tastefully, furnished property. Bed was extremely comfortable and very hard to get out of in the morning ;) Wi-fi was excellent. Utensils fully provided and really the perfect cottage for a stay in Whitby. A note of warning. The cottage is situated half way up a fairly steep hill and could cause problems to somebody less fit and able as we were.

November 2013
Inglenook Cottage was delightful. Only wish I could have packed it in my suitcase and brought it home. We all agreed that we would rent Inglenook Cottage again. It is in a super position centrally within Whitby and, although it took us a little while to find our way around the town, we were very pleased with the location. We all slept extremely well on the very comfortable beds. Good quality linen and towels.
