Mr Gleeson
June 2019
Really enjoyed our week at Usherwoods Dairy.. Have stayed previously at this accomodation some years ago. The location is stunning and the Dairy provides very comfortable and spacious living accomodation. Excellent for larger groups. The owners are very friendly and treated us to fresh eggs from their chickens and extra logs for the fire. Excellent location to explore both the Lakes and Yorkshire Dales. Very peaceful rural location with stunning views from the rear of the property.

April 2019
The property (Usherwood's Dairy) was spacious, comfortable, spotlessly clean and well equipped for the amount of guests.. The location was superb, with far-reaching views over the beautiful Lancashire (and Yorkshire) countryside. The nearby village had a C-Op and other small shops and the locals were friendly and welcoming. We met the property owner who was extremely welcoming and made us feel at home straight away. A very relaxing and enjoyable holiday, would visit again.

February 2019
The property was warm, spacious, plenty of room for 3 generations of the family plus a dog! The views from the house were fantastic, and everybody enjoyed the week, walking, some of us birdwatching, our son playing golf, and our grandson having 6 hours of driving lessons. We also visited Lancaster, some of us had a tour of the Castle, and others went shopping. The kitchen was very well equipped, and we mastered the Alpha range to make some great meals. The only criticisms, which are minor ones, are that the bathrooms would benefit from having shelves or a cabinet for storage of toiletries etc., and the rugs in the kitchen and living room were curling at the corners, and could be a trip hazard. All the family wanted to book for next February half term, but unfortunately someone has already beaten us to it! Usherwoods Dairy was the best place we have been to for our annual get together - finding another place as good will not be easy!

October 2018
Fabulous accommodation with an extremely well equipped kitchen and all the rest of the house has been well thought out too.. A great house for all ages, with plenty of space for all 9 of us. Fantastic views and an ideal setting for getting away from everything and with lots of interesting places within about an hour's drive. As a large group we have rented many properties and this is probably the best we have had so far!

What can I say apart from this was one of the best places I've ever stayed & I've been all over Briton & Europe! The are was outstanding with amazing walks & bike rides. And just fantastic for dog walks. The holiday cottage was spotless when we arrived. The owners even left tea bags, coffee & sugar with biscuits as well! We can't thank them enough for an amazing week in the Dales! Places to visit are - Ingleton Waterfalls, Skipton Castle, Hawes Village & Kirkby Lonsdale. Just driving around the Dales was outstanding! We got our weekly food delivered on the day we arrived but there is a CoOp in Bentham which is a 15 minute drive away. I loved the local petrol garage as they asked me how much I put in my car!! Brings back memories as a kid! Thank Usherwoods as we will be returning ASAP! xxxxx

The cottage was clean and comfortable, a real home from home.. We loved the cows, sheep and wallaby around us and the views were stunning!! Everyone was friendly which added to our fabulous holiday. Thank you.
Mrs Heatley
August 2018
The setting near to the three peaks was beautiful.. We experienced total quiet which was extremely relaxing and looked out onto green fields containing cows sheep. Not to mention the wallaby at the property. We were a party of three generations including a baby and a good time was had by all . The cottage is nicely furnished with good appliances and once we had mastered the cooker it was no problem feeding 11 of us. The cooking utensils came in every size and the kitchen was very clean as was the rest of the cottage. There is an enclosed garden which was perfect for the children and our family dog. Fiona welcomed us and was available for our only problem of a fuse blowing . Both Sainsbury’s and Tesco’s delivered our daily food and we used the local butcher Horbys who delivered huge amounts of sausages, bacon and eggs. I think this is one of the best holiday homes we have rented from Sykes.

Everything was as the advert.. I didn't quite expect such a lovely location. Some times adverts don't show a building next door or an area that isn't so attractive. This property has wonderful views from a lovely large garden. The house was so well laid out for us as a family.

The Owner was very welcoming, and had left us tea, coffee, milk etc.. The views from the property were lovely. A really wonderful place to stay.

June 2018
The Usherwood Dairy cottage is tucked away in a beautiful picturesque area a few miles from High Bentham.. The space is great for a large family or a group of friends and its a great place to return to at the end of a day out in the forest of bowland or the yorkshire dales. The owners are very friendly and we were very lucky to have some amazing weather in June. Each night was spent looking at the most magnificent sunset that we were treated to from our garden with a chilled glass of beer.
Mrs Pennock
March 2018
An absolutely beautiful country cottage for our family holiday.. The views were spectacular and the children had a wonderful time visiting the wallabies and playing in the garden. Would definitely recommend for any age group. Thank you for a wonderful stay!

This cottage provides excellent facilities, it exceeded our expectations with the equipment and comfort provided.. The house it's self is spacious and very comfortable (especially with the lovely log burner and underfloor heating) and with three generations, two dogs and a special birthday celebration we had a wonderful long weekend and would love to visit again.

An absolutely lovely property. The directions were first class and all 10 of us got there easily, even in the dark. The owner, who lives next door but one, was so friendly and extremely welcoming - nothing was too much trouble. The scenery and views are spectacular even in the rain. Would highly recommend.

We stayed here for a long weekend with extended family! Very good value for money. The kitchen was well equipped - especially then there are 11 of you and a baby. The owners were very accommodating and done everything they could to help us. It snowed very heavily the night before we were leaving. So in the morning, they gritted the driveway for us to help us out - exceptional service really. There are amazing views from all angles of the cottage. We will definitely be back :-).

November 2015
The house - The kitchen was well equipped and easy to work in. The bedrooms are clean and comfortable with black out blinds in the sky lights. The living room was very cosy and the log burner very welcome after getting caught in the rain during our Ingleton trip! The house itself is like a show home, finished to a high standard and an absolute pleasure to call it home for a few days. The views are something else!! Look out of any window upstairs, downstairs, kitchen, or bedroom, they all are fantastic! Value for Money - 100% The surroundings - So much to see, so much to do! Some hidden gems so do your research and plan before you go. The Ingleton Waterfalls Trail is a great way to spend an afternoon. The amount of rain that had fallen made it a spectacular sight. The Hosts - Very welcoming and made sure we had everything we needed. Very knowledgeable about the surrounding area and had a real passion for it which was nice to see. We will be back again in the summer!!

This is beautiful property in a beautiful location. Throughly enjoyed by all age 2 to 70. Owners were welcoming and very easy to talk to. Lovely & quiet with all amenities. Safe outdoor area for children to play and enough internet signal to keep them entertained in the evening (cbeebies.com!). Close to lots of fun attractions, the caves, Lancaster, farm parks and just rambling around the local villiages. The local Mart was well worth a look on market day. We would stay here again in the future.

From the moment we stepped through the door we were impressed. Usherwoods is a fantastic property; spacious, well equipped and very comfortable. The layout and décor was well thought out and added to the overall charm of the place. Despite the weather being very wet and wild, we were all snug and warm inside and overall had a wonderful time. We are looking to book again next year.

The cottage was perfect for us. The kitchen is huge, with a big dining table, the bedrooms suited us, especially the black-out Velux in one of the singles (for the baby). The main bedroom is large with a beautiful en-suite and the family bathroom has a huge bath. The views from the property and the garden are just wonderful. We were able to let the kids roam the garden - they were fascinated by the chickens and sheep!

We were really pleased with the size, layout and standard of the property. We were a group of 11, including 2 small children, and there was plenty of room for all of us. I particularly liked the large kitchen/dining area, which was great for all gathering around the big table for family dinners. The Dairy is set in beautiful surroundings with great views. In short, it was ideal for our stay!

May 2014
Spacious, well laid out property was well stocked with everything we needed, including thoughtful touch of freshly laid eggs in the fridge waiting for us. Big kitchen/dining area was highlight for me, great for cooking and sitting down for big family meals. The weather was unfortunately pretty wet for the week we were there so didn't do as many walks as we would have liked but still got to explore some of the surrounding countryside, which was beautiful. There were plenty of leaflets in the cottage with suggestions for activities and destinations nearby for kids and grown ups. All in all, would happily recommend!

We booked Usherwoods Barn and Dairy together for a large group of adults and children for a weekend in March. Both properties surpassed our expectations and all of our friends commented on how great they were. There was lots of room for everyone, plenty of space to cook, dine and lounge about. There were great views of the Lakes and the three Peaks from the cottages. Fantastic. We were greeted by the owners who were very friendly and the three wallabies were an added bonus!

We have just returned from an amazing week at Usherwoods. There were 11 people in our group of 3 families. The house was spacious both inside & out and at no point did anybody feel on top of each other. The location was perfect for our group with all necessary amenities only a short drive away. It's in a great location for day trips out to the lakes & Ingleton etc but not too far from Lancaster for big shops & cinemas etc. The owners were so friendly and available for any requirements we had. They even left us some basic supplies of tea & coffee etc for our arrival. We all had such a good time that we have booked another 2 holidays for 2014. I'm counting down the days already.

Usherwoods Dairy was an ideal venue for ten members of our three-generation family, plus one dog and a tortoise. The owner was extremely pleasant but not at all intrusive. Everything we needed was provided and the whole place was spotlessly clean. So relaxing to watch the cows, sheep and hens in the fields next to the garden. Lovely views all around, and a very interesting area to explore. Highly recommended.

December 2011
The service as usual met all critera for a trouble free holiday. The directions shown to the 'Dairy' accurate and easy to follow. The accomodation was of a high specification with attention to detail and would suit a large party/gathering with plenty of parking. Plenty of space both internally and externally, large kitchen/dinning, lounge, utility room, adequate shower rooms/bathroom/toilet facilities. Good size entrance hall to cater for all outdoor clothing and shoes/boots of walkers before entering the main part of the cottage. The cottage was very warm and friendly controllable. Location is excellent for The Dales and surrounding countryside to include The Lakes. Many places of interest, to include picture post card towns, caves, waterfalls, beautiful country walks, of which there are many provided in the up to date guides at the cottage. A car is a requirement due to the remote situation but also close enough to a village for day to day shopping requirements. A few excellent places to eat out locally. A truly rural environment can be enjoyed by staying at 'Dairy'.

The view out the windows was stunning and the house was extremely relaxing. The location was great being not too far out of Lancaster and the Yorkshire Dales. The house retained its warmth very well during the cold Autumn week. The landlady was very friendly and welcoming and all efforts had been made to provide visitors with all the relevant information in the welcome pack.

Our annual gathering took place here this year, from all parts of the UK and Ireland. with ages from 2 to 60 the house accomodated all of us with ease. Well appointed and roomy, some noise, but what can you expect from three teenagers. Well positioned to visit the many attractions in the area, but a quiet haven if you just want to chill. Best supermarket a bit of a ride, but what are lists for. The owners were next door if required, but we never saw them or needed them. One of the best places we have found in 20 years of annual gatherings and ifit wasn't for the factthat we never visit the same place twice I would have no hesitation in booking the house again. You won't be disappointed if you go there for your holiday.

Warm, well equipped properties with friendly, helpful owners in a stunning location. We rented both the Dairy and Barn as we were a large group. The situation and views from the properties were fantastic and we saw some lovely sunsets. We particularly enjoyed the good walking right from the door and found the local countryside very unspoilt. We pre ordered a Tesco internet shop which was delivered right on time by a friendly delivery driver. All in all a wonderful experience and can't wait to go back again.

This property is in the most beautiful location. You are literally surrounded by jaw-dropping scenery. There are views of the Lake District, the Howgills, the Three Peaks of the Yorkshire Dales and the Forest of Bowland. There were endless options for places to explore in the surrounding area, within an hour being in either the Lake District or the Dales and the local area was also a real revelation. That is of course, if you want to leave the house! Extremely easy check-in - the key was in the door! We had a wave from the owners as we passed them on the drive and they popped by later when we had had time to unpack and settle in. The owners are very helpful and we felt they would do anything to be of assistance - they even said give us a call anytime if you need any recommendations and were accomodating even when we popped around asking for firewood on a cold, wet evening - within 5 minutes the basket of wood was delivered to our porch. Half an hour after our arrival, Tesco arrived with our shopping - all we had to do was put it away. The house is beautifully clean - not a speck of dust and was unbelievably warm with the underfloor heating throughout the doorstairs and cosy open fire. The bedrooms were well appointed, we had tonnes of room and we enjoyed having a bathroom each (there are 3 in total). The kitchen was very well equipped and we loved cooking on the stove. The grounds were lovely and Blanche our bulldog was extremely happy to meet the local animals, the sheep, ducks, wallabies and her fave, the friendly cows, who seemed to worship her! Highly recommended and will hopefully return if travelling with a larger group.

Ideal for walking in the country. Good for the dogs. Good local shops and takeaways. Fairly near to shops and public houses but better if you have own transport.

An excellent large property, clean and beautifully kept, loads of room for 10 of us and not being on top of each other! Wonderful views all round from every window. Lots of lovely walks. Very kind and helpful owners. We required a third key and they went out specially and had one cut for us. A perfect Christmas holiday was had by us all, ages ranging from 2 to 70 years.

We had a group of 9 people, so finding a nice place with plenty of room was our main objective. The cottage was spacious and comfortable, with great common areas for gathering and quiet places to retreat from the crowd. Beautiful showers, excellent kitchen facilities, and a nice patio. The sunsets were exquisite from the back garden windows and the patio. Our group hiked, biked and rode horses all within the immediate vicinity of the cottage. Pubs and shops were a brisk walk away in High Bentham, and the sights of the Dales were a short drive away. All in all a great experience!

We go away as a large group of girls every january and had a wonderful time last year here. The decor of the house was very impressive and comfortable and we had loads of room to enjoy our stay. We wokr to lovely viewd and never had to worry about annoying the neighbours due to the location of the property. We did have a few problems at first finding this property in the dark but thankfully our tesco delivery van found us and helped us find the propoerty and an added bonus that while we in the middle of the country we could still have all our food delivered. It was little isolated in the moors though this was a plus for us as the scenery was beautiful and there was lots of walking if you felt so inclined! All in all a wonderfu; property to get away from it all, perfect for large groups of friends and families!

This was a fantastic base for two families to stay in. From the moment we walked in we felt welcome. Everywhere was spotless and bright and there were nice touches such as a pint of milk, tea coffee and biscuits waiting in the kitchen. Both families had privacy and plenty of room. The 'communal' areas ie, the kitchen and the lounge were spacious and well equipped. The location was great with easy access to lots of interesting places for days out eg. Malham Cove. The kids loved the garden and enjoyed having the cows peering over from the nearby field. We liked everything about this cottage. All in all excellent.

The overall setting of the place and the comfort and facilities that the cottage offered were excellent. The place provided all the mod-cons but still managed to feel rustic and homely. The owner was very approachable and helpful, and I would definitely recommend it to groups of family and friends as a wonderful setting to get together.
