Not long returned from a five night stay. The cottage is lovely and much bigger than we anticipated. Yes a little basic but when you’re on holiday and out all day you don’t need anything else. The cottage was very clean and so reasonably priced. If I was the owner I would be tempted to increase the fee by a few pounds and included a little welcome hamper. I think this would be a lovely touch. I would definitely recommend it to family and friends and would definitely stay there again if I was to visit the area.

Lovely cottage, in a Perfect place for visiting North Yorkshire however once inside very let down, Wasn’t allowed to check in half an hour early (4.30pm instead of 5) so we decided to go and do the shop To pass time, checked in at 6ish, At a first glance very basic and not much like the pictures, but we decided to make it what we could, however it appeared very quickly the place was Filthy, the sofa was so dirty we had get a throw out of the car to sit on it, we wiped over Work surfaces but nothing available To clean floors which were covered in dirt and hair, In going upstairs to the double room to put the bags it became apartment very quick there was a funny smell, turns out there was a huge urine stain on the valence sheet, (clearly not been changed) called the ‘caretaker’ to be asked it’s 8pm on a Saturday what do you want me To do! I asked for the bed to be changed to be told no one was available, after a few words he arrived ten mins later with a new valence sheet, he agreed to help me Change it as the mattress was heavy, on pulling the mattress back the bed was thick with hair, although this is a dog friendly cottage you don’t expect the bed to be thick with hair, I called out letting company on Monday morning who offered a reclean there was thick dust everywhere, sofa was filthy, curtains had stain marks on, bed and floors full Of hair, cooker had dials missing and the fan did not work, fag butts outside the front door just to name a few, it was agreed the cottage would be cleaned on the Tuesday morning, upon coming back it was cleaner but still Not to standard, bed still full Of hair, Last straw was when stripping the bed to leave that the quilt and pillow bit had blood stains on them!! This was clear to see so pure ignorance that they made the bed with this on, Also looking at reviews on another BOOKING website since returning home This has happened more than once! Clearly Don’t care :( Please if you do book this cottage check the bed and if you aren’t happy demand a clean, I have reported this to the letting company who have stated it’s not to standard but the family that own it basically say it is pet friendly and that’s what to expect! Won’t even acknowledge the blood issue, Such a shame as it’s a lovely cottage with so much potential If it had the right kind of owners,, Also a little note that the toilet is downstairs so not very good for those who struggle with stairs etc,,

Due to Covid 19, the communal areas in the complex were unavailable, the tumble dryer and the garden which are both shared between the three properties were not in use which was unfortunate.. these measures would have had less impact had some of the chairs been placed just outside the door but instead this area was given to two large wheelie bins to each property, I would suggest that the bins be relocated to the garden together with a washing line for each property. The complex would have benefitted enormously by some nice planting and some weeding as the outside area did not reflect the pleasant interior. The property was very clean and welcoming, the bedrooms were comfortable and nicely appointed. The bathroom was nice but the bath was on the small side, the facilities would have been greatly improved by fitting a proper shower either instead of the bath or just an over-bath shower would be great. The kitchen was lovely but unfortunately, there was no room for the storage of food in the cupboards and not everything can be stored in the fridge. The sofas in the lounge were a bit too low and a bit tired and lumpy and a few more pictures on the walls would have been nice. The little complex was located in a very beautiful area with a stream running alongside the pavement and a little bridge featured in the scene together with a lovely church and stone-built cottages.

A seat next to the door for putting footwear on and off would be helpful.. I found myself using the lounge area because I have a back problem.

While the cottage met our basic requirements, I must take issue on your description of the facilities.. There was no mention in your description of the bathroom and toilet that it was downstairs. As 80-years-olds there is an almost obligatory visit to the loo during the night, and navigating the very steep stairs in the middle of the night was not good at all. Also the hand held shower was a big let-down and not convenient to say the least. Also the question of price! Our neighbours at No. 3 Low Hall Cottages paid around £450 for a two-bed two-bathroom ground floor cottage against £750 for No. 1 which seems quite disproportionate. Also I must reiterate other occupants of these cottages, that in this day and age surely wi-fi is must.

The cottage was fine and in a good location.. The village is attractive and the pub and hotel seemed popular though we didn't use them (had small child with us). The cafe/restaurant looked good too but useless to us as it closed at 4pm! Back to the cottage, we were very comfortable there but it really does need a shower, or at least a shower curtain to use with the hand-held one. It was a bit strange not having a personal contact there but this was not a problem.

It was difficult to find as the post code wasn't recognised by sat nav.. Really enjoyed the place. Mark was most helpful and made us feel welcome. Very quiet area and good for dog walking. Within easy reach of the coast . A couple of minor issues. The bath could do with re grouting and the front blind in the spare bedroom needs some attention. I have read horror stories from people who have used other companies, so I wasn't sure what to expect as it is our first time with Sykes, but I was pleasantly surprised. An added bonus was that you could sit outside and hear local concerts from the outside theatre in Scarborough, and we loved hearing Nile Rodgers!! Would use Sykes again. Thank you for a fab week. It was our Ruby Wedding and our dogs birthday while we were there, and this holiday was also a celebration after I had a life saving operation earlier this year!

The cottage itself was reasonably comfortable but the main factor was that we were lead to believe it was all on one level.. I thought, at first, that we had got the interpretation wrong but the guests in No. 2 were of the same opinion. My wife has limits on her mobility so rather than lose the holiday, we made compromises during our stay to counteract her inability to climb the stairs. Regarding the accomodation, we felt the 'facilities ' were sparse. Just four knives, forks and spoons; limited crockery which meant the constant need to wash up to get enough to eat the meal. The decor was also sparse... one picture throughout, one vase but no flowers (not even Plastic) and no easy chair..just the 'functional' two seater couches. The setting would make it a great place with just a few inexpensive extras. Again 'sparse' comes to mind

The cottage is in a lovely quaint village which has two dog friendly pubs and a shop.. It is the perfect location for visiting Filey, Scarborough, Whitby and Staithes. The cottage itself is currently lacking in information and a few personal touches (maybe a vase of dried flowers and a couple of ornaments). It could do with a WiFi connection, some holiday leaflets and a visitor comments book. We had no idea when the heating would be coming on/going off and only found out, by speaking to the painter at No 3. The heating is apparently on constantly set to a certain temperature! Just a couple of minor tweaks would give this cottage a 10/10. However, currently I would say it's an 8 1/2 out of 10. I have to add though, that it was immaculately clean.

Lovely little place to stay or as a base for North Yorkshire. Caretaker had been early on our arrival date and started the Central Heating so it was cosy when we arrived. He also gave instructions about boiler keys etc and gave local knowledge to us which was helpful. Very clean with all bedding and towels included. Fully kitted kitchen and washing machine too. Would go again to these cottages.

We have stayed in this cottage a few times before and we like it because we can take our pet with us.. We have found walks which take us into Scarborough ( we like walking and often do walks of 7 or 8 miles.) Other days we drive to Scarborough or other places of interest.

The cottage is in a quiet location in a pretty village on the outskirts of Scarborough. There are two pubs nearby, and all the attractions of Scarborough are within very easy reach. The Yorkshire Coast cycle route also runs very close by. The cottage itself has off street parking and a nice communal garden with picnic tables. Inside, it is furnished simply but nicely. It's small, but doesn't feel cramped. The kitchen has everything you need and no more - for instance there's no room for a dishwasher or even a coffee machine, but there is a little fridge, a decent oven and some cupboard storage space. Upstairs there's a double and a twin bedroom, with some hanging storage on the landing. The bathroom is downstairs, and has a bath with a shower attachment to the taps. This is mounted pretty low, and you'll have to crouch in the bath to use it! Our only major complaint, an unusual one in this day and age, was that visiting with a teenage daughter, the cottage lacked one vital element - wi-fi. Her face when we broke the news to her was priceless. We managed, of course, but for little extra cost it would've made a big difference. The chap who showed us around was helpful - when we had a problem with the DVD player I texted him and he was there within five minutes with a replacement. If you are looking for basic, no frills but comfortable accommodation, then I would definitely recommend this.

Someone met us with the keys and showed us round the cottage. Explained how the boiler worked for heating and hot water and told us of all the local amenities. The rooms were all immaculate and comfortable could not ask for more. Local amenities were good and within walking distance from the cottage. Loved the quietness of the area particularly sat out in the garden in the evenings, was lovely to just sit and relax. Nothing that I did not like and can't wait to go again.

The reception was friendly by the gardener, the cottage is well appointed and close to two pubs which both welcome dogs. Ideally situated for walking either inland or on the coastal path and a short bus ride into Scarborough. My only critisism would be that the local church clock chimes throughout the night, not ideal for light sleepers.

Lovely little cottage, in a nice location. The garden area was lovley too. Only problem was lack of storage space in the kitchen - if you wanted to eat out everynight or buy food everyday to cook it was fine, but as we wanted to buy supplies for a few days it was a little inconvenient not having any cupboard space.
