We stayed in apartment 2 ground floor.. This is a former hotel converted into apartments earlier this year and they have made a nice job of the conversion. Our apartment was modern, comfortable and fully equipped with all you need. Beds, bedding, bathrooms, kitchens all very clean and comfortable.
Unfortunately there was a lot of noise during our stay. We could hear the people upstairs at various times of the day, sometimes early in the morning, thump, thump across the floor, a dog barking, drawers being opened, doors banging, and the water pressure was quite high so we could hear the showers, the toilets being flushed and taps being run.
There was further noise from the building next door which is the Miners Welfare place. Their smoking and seating area was right next to our apartment, they were often out there from 7am onwards, generally rowdy, talking and laughing loudly. We had to keep the blinds shut in the kitchen and lounge as they were looking in each time they were out there. If we had the windows open it would have been even louder. They have a lot of land, so I suggest they move their smoking area away from these apartments.
We didn't expect this and were a bit disappointed. We love Scarborough and surrounding areas and picked the North side for being quieter. The location of the apartments is great as you can leave your car and reach everything by walking or the open top bus to the South side. The conversion work is excellent, we had a great time despite the grumbles about the noise.
