There's nowhere better for a walking weekend than this snug country home – trails start from your front door, and your four-legged friends can join the exploration. Rievaulx Abbey is an hour's hike away, and there are well-marked paths from there onwards to the charming town of Helmsley (alternatively, it's just a fifteen-minute drive away). After a day on your feet, it's a relief to have space to unwind at home – sit in the sun on the south-facing patio and enjoy views of the sheep grazing, or grab one of the comfy armchairs in the living room.
