A lovely extremely well kept and very clean cottage which was almost like a show home.
You could relax and had a lovely view across the valley from all of the rooms.
It was warm had all the mod cons that you need apart from Wi-Fi and a phone signal but to be honest that was a welcome break for us and when you get a little further out on one of your trips you can get a signal and catch up with anything that you want to.
The location is excellent with the North York moors on your door step and just a half hours’ drive from Whitby and Pickering.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay there and would recommend it to anyone.

Where do you start. Easy to find, very comfortable, warms. We were made to feel welcome by the owner Alan, who was not in the least bit intrusive.
Beautifully decorated and all the mod cons you would need. The only thing that was a bit of an issue was lack of mobile phone reception and corresponding lack of WiFi but that is a minor point to be honest. If you are looking for a lovely quiet retreat for exploring the North Yorkshire Moors I could not recommend Bee Garth highly enough,

Incredible value for money! One of finest properties we have stayed in, over many years. Extremely comfortable, very clean and well equipped. Alan and Karen were the perfect 'there but not there' hosts. Although not giving full access for the disabled, as someone who is not completely mobile (two artificial knees and one hip) I had no trouble negotiating the steps. The steep drop is the front edge of a eight foot wide terrace and really presents no hazard.

Lovely setting in the Esk Valley.. Roads over the moors not great in bad weather but worth it for the villages around and all the friendly, warm pubs! The cottage has everything you need and more. A small criticism, instruction booklets for the microwave, double oven and central heating would be useful as we are not used to the differences in some of these items. Instructions for the wood burner were excellent and we got it going every time!

We spent a wonderful week in Bee Garth, the cottage is lovely and has amazing views.. Having the train at the bottom of the garden is an added bonus.

The reviews here will tell you how good this place is, so take that as read.. This is not a glorified shack at the bottom of a garden. This is a labour or love by Alan and Karen. It is situated very close to where you can park your car just of the main road to Castleton. the outside seats look out down the garden to the hills beyond. Your own outside space is limited but for a base to explore the area it is spot on. You have access down the garden through the gate and straight to the pub and railway station. Castleton is easily walkable.
Inside Bea Garth there are personal touches and well equipped although a hairdryer and decent breadknife would have helped (we were lent a hair dryer).
The bed was vey comfortable, very comfortable. The oven nice and clean, the shower immaculate, the settee comfortable all gripes from other holiday lets from the past.
The attention to detail is fabulous and Karen and Alan are to be congratulated.
There is no WIFI, (as of yet) but there is a mobile signal.
The visitor book will tell you great places to see and things to do.
So go for it.
My only complaint..... no free beer

Lovely cottage, tastefully decorated and perfectly positioned for a great walking holiday.. On a separate note, It is not necessary for Sykes to tell me that "Jim" has just booked a holiday in Cornwall or that 3 people are looking at a cottage. These pop-ups are very annoying whilst looking at cottages on the website. Also I do not need an email prompting me to book, every time I look at a cottage online - especially after I have already booked it for a holiday and I am just checking on it's details.

This property is a very comfortable, clean, and well situated place to explore the north of Yorkshire, and only minutes away from the station that goes to Whitby or Middlesbourgh.. The nearest pub is also 5 minutes away that serves meals and good beer, and the moors begin very shortly after leaving the building, so overall very good, the only downside is no wi-fi, and no phone signal only EE.

Fantastic place to stay - central for loads of sightseeing and visiting.. Alan and Karen have definitely got the touch for making the cottage perfect, beautifully decorated and it was lovely to sit in the garden with a cuppa (or a glass or two) and watch the birds and just enjoy the peace and quiet.
Train station at the bottom of the garden perfect for getting into Whitby in about 30 minutes, saves parking which, by all accounts, is pretty dire in Whitby. We booked the steam train to Whitby too which we did a few days later, picking up the train at Pickering (which is very pretty and has a market on a Monday). The steam train took 2 hours to get to Whitby but with the ticket we had we could hop-on and hop-off at different stations along the way.
Also at the bottom of the garden and probably a 2-3 minute walk is the local public house, The Eskdale Inn, great food, great staff and a lovely place to just have a drink after a long day sightseeing.

Lovely place to stay.. The attention to detail made this extra special, everything provided was of quality and looked like new. It was clean and well equipped, with little extras like the sweets and shortbreads on arrival. Great to sit on the terrace with a coffee and watch the birds in the garden and an occasional visit from a friendly cat. Good location for walks on the moors and visit to the coast. This was an excellent place to relax and unwind and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to anyone looking for a homely stay.

This cottage is a gem, it was warm and cosy, well decorated with some lovely features.. It is in a beautiful setting, overlooking Castleton, near to a very friendly local pub and the station. The cottage was well equipped, very clean and we will definitely return. The location was perfect, easy to get into Whitby and the coast, and the drive over the moors was fantastic, specially with a fine layer of snow on the tops. We really enjoyed our break.
