7 of us stayed to celebrate a 50th birthday. We booked through Sykes. The house is lovely very spacious and plenty of good seating for everyone. The beds are comfy too so all got a good night's sleep. Its very quiet on a night which is good .And the house when the heating is on gets lovely and warm The owner Mike is good to deal with and always answers any questions promptly. The property has a great summerhouse that houses a lovely full size hot tub and an infra red sauna and separate shower/changing room so we all enjoyed using it to relax after a busy day. The only niggles we have is the house is now in need of a decor face-lift some painting is needed and kitchen utensils need replacing especially the knives which are all blunt and the toaster which you had to keep holding down on one side if you were toasting four slices. We wouldn't mark the rating down for that but some guests might so it's just some advice really to get these things replaced Where the house is situated in Skinningrove your just a 10min walk to the beach which is beautiful and so quiet and on the Cleveland way so you can walk to Saltburn. The area is ideal to travel to the north Yorkshire coast your only about 30mins drive to whitby with Staithes, Runswick Bay, Sandsend and Saltburn not far away. Can recommend the Fish Cottage in Sandsend for somewhere to eat In Skinningrove itself there's a fish and chip shop and little convenience shop and a restaurant right near the holiday let called Kaskane Cafe. We didn't try any of these so can't comment We would all stay here again

We needed a holiday property that could fit the dynamics of our group of seven adults, three children and four dogs for a week away as a family after the enforced separations of the covid pandemic. The Powerhouse fit the brief perfectly with space in abundance both inside and out. The hot tub, sauna, pool table and air hockey were a huge bonus, so was the good weather. The house is situated in a quiet, sheltered location away from traffic going in and out of Skinningrove village. The sun slowly moves from the courtyard garden across the abundant seating areas at the front of the house ensuring sunny or shaded areas all day. There is a line of trees that keep the garden space private. Two beaches are approximately a ten to fifteen minute walk away, Cattersty sands being the most popular. Cattersty sands is located at the far side of the jetty. Follow the path to the left parallel to the sea heading towards the jetty and go through the large gap, a beautiful, sheltered expanse of beach awaits. Locally we ate at Kascane and Covells bar just a short stroll from the house which is dog friendly, booking is essential as it is very popular. Lovely staff serving good food, very reasonably priced and plentiful. Mini train, rowing boats and kayaks at Ruswarp, crazy golf at Jack and Jill at Scalingdamn, Runswick bay and Whitby all within easy reach. We had amazing fish and chips in Whitby at Mr Chips across the swing bridge. I booked tables with us being a large group and it being a busy half-term. They are very dog friendly too. Asda, Aldi, B+M and Greggs are a ten minute drive from the house for supplies and fuel. Overall the house was comfortable, tidy and relatively clean. A few areas had a thick build up of dust, not good for those with allergies….Most noticeable was the beautiful centre piece hanging at the top of the grand staircase and the trim around the bases of bedroom furniture. We had an issue with the hot water supply in the house which was addressed promptly. However, the water pressure did drop if taps at both sides of the house were in use at the same time. Overall we enjoyed our much needed family time making lasting memories in abundance in and around a seaside village that is a hidden gem.

Large house perfect for the type of holiday we wanted all siblings spending time together for first time in our lives , sumptuous acomadation ,two lounges two kitchens and loads of space ,some bedrooms with ensuite plus others with the use of lovely large bathroom , short walk to glorious beach witch we were on everyday at 6 am , the owners Mike and Lorraine couldn't do enough for you ,reported the iron had stopped working and delivered a new one in less than an hour , and a lady came to check and service the hot tub and sauna everyday . All in All what a great place to stay ,would recommend to anyone ,

I read a few reviews about a few things like tea, coffee, dishwasher tablets etc being there on arrival, but there was nothing of the sort. The House was very tidy on arrival but not particularly clean. Appart from that the house was amazing and we have loved every minute. As a family of 12 adults, 2 children and 3 dogs, there was plenty of space and facilities. Rooms are a decent size and lots of bathrooms. Hot tub isn't at temperature until about 7pm the first night due to draining and cleaning. There are lots of games, books and dvds in both living rooms, with a pool table and air hockey table. The beach is 750m away, but not particularly large, Saltburn is a short drive away.

Any complaints will appear beyond trivial, from arriving to leaving an excellent place to stay and use as a base to explore the wider area. 12 of us and 4 dogs really enjoyed our week long stay here, so much space, everything you need for a self catering break, 2 kitchens, 2 living rooms, comfy beds, excellent hot tub and sauna (cleaned every day), plenty of parking, secure garden area for the dogs. If i had one very minor complaint, i would suggest doubling or even trebling the amount of Recycling dustbins, will filled one after 3 days :). WiFi excellent, giant TV to watch the Rugby on, and a huge kitchen table for sitting round (Doubles as a snooker/pool table apparantly, but too many Bottles on it to check). Owner (and family) very friendly, both on arrival and leaving, apart from cleaning the hot tub, never saw them during the week, nor needed to.

I have recently returned from my sisters hen weekend at The Powerhouse. What an amazing time we had. The house was stunning from the outside. The hot tub room and sauna were fabulous. There is lights in the hottub and hot tub room itself. There is a built in speaker within the room which can be plugged in by aux cable. The rooms were fab with plenty of bathrooms. Towels provided for showering. Complimentary tea, coffee and biscuits provided and other helpful things such as dish washer tablets. There was 2 cookers and 2 fridgefreezers which helped to keep our alcohol and food cool. We used one for food and one for alcohol. The hottub was checked each day and topped up. Small little down points. Big bath tubing is loose so the bath leaked. One toilet roll provided for whole house, luckily we bought some. And the bbq wasn't cleaned and put back together. These were minor and did not stop me rating it 5 stars.

Just got back yesterday 22nd January, what a fabulous weekend we all had 16 of us and a dog. The house is beautiful couldn't ask for anything better, there was 7 kid's and they were no bother at all kept busy with the hot tub and pool table. Would recommend the power house and we will definitely be going back thank you.

Stayed here for a week to welcome in the new year with family and friends. There were 17 of us in total ranging from 12 months to 56 years old! Every single one of us had a blast, lots to do around the house with the games supplied, hot tub and sauna, Netflix and the pool/snooker table. The owners were very helpful and it's a straight road, 30 minute drive to whitby so perfectly located. Myself and my partner stayed in the double room with en suite At the end of the long corridor and on three separate nights there was a strong smell of burning matches but we couldn't find anyone burning them which was very odd but the house is so welcoming and cosy. The beds are super comfy and two fridges are perfect for storing the food and alcohol separate! I can't recommend this place highly enough, if you're a large group looking for a get away then I highly recommend you try the power house!

Our party of 16 friends and family stayed here for a long weekend in early January and had an amazing time. There are three birthdays in the group within three days so we always go away that same weekend. The age ranges were 14 to 73. The house was ideal, with lots of living space so we didn't feel on top of each other at all. The house is very clean, is beautifully decorated and the furniture is all to a very high standard. The house was lovely and warm all the time. The house is perfect for a large friends/family get-together. There are two large bedrooms with four poster beds which are en-suite. There is one double bedroom with two twin beds on a mezzanine floor. There is one treble bedroom and two further rooms with twin beds, one of which is en-suite. There is one shower room and toilet on the ground floor and a further bathroom on the second floor. The beds are really comfy and the bed linen was all really clean and good quality. We never struggled for hot water even though all five showers were running at the same time on the Saturday morning. There are two fully equipped kitchens with three large dining tables, one of which is also a snooker table. We cooked a Christmas dinner for all 16 adults on the Sunday and didn’t struggle for oven space or roasting tins and pans etc. We had brought three slow cookers for the Saturday night but there were two large ones in the house anyway. There’s are two large fridge-freezers (we used one for food and one for beer) and two dishwashers. There are two lounge areas, both really comfortable. Both have large TVS one of which is fitted with Netflix so we used that one more than the other room. Outside there is a separate building with a large hot tub and a small sauna. The house is in a good quiet location, there is a restaurant (KasKane) within 2 minutes walk that service excellent food and reasonable prices. We had a fabulous time and will definitely look to book again!!!

First impressions was of a beautiful we?l presented large house . Lots of rooms for the 9 of us that visited (included 2 infants who were supplied with cots, high chairs and walkers) however the house would benefit from some repairs that would make it even more impressive. We noticed broken toilet roll holders, toilet seats that didn't fit, broken curtain tie backs etc. A deep clean of some area would also improve the experience. However we had a great break and the owners couldn't have been more helpful.

We booked a 3 night stay at the Power House as part of my mums 60th birthday celebrations. There were 11of us including 2 under 3's and 2 16 year olds. Each and every one of us had a blast! The house was immaculate, it's spacious but warm and cosy. We definitely felt it was a home away from home. There were 2 fully equipped kitchens and 2 living rooms with everything we needed. We also had tea, coffee and biscuits waiting for us on arrival. We were also given a full tour of the house and instructions on how everything worked upon arrival. The hot tub and sauna were the icing on the cake and we made the most of the facilities every night! We took a trip to Skinningrove beach, which was a short drive away and the kids absolutely loved it. The following day we went to Whitby which was also lovely and only about 30 minutes away. We had a truly wonderful time and the venue is suitable for any sort of break with family or friends. I would definitely book again for a girls getaway in the future.

We have just arrived home today after a fantastic couple of days at the Power House. We were a group of 13 for a hen party - we typically aren't a fan traipsing round the city with various hen do miscellany so hiring a cottage for the weekend was the perfect alternative. The house is stocked well - tea coffee and a packet of biscuits on arrival was a nice touch. The beds were very comfy (at least mine was, and judging by some of the lie-ins the rest of the group had, they can't have been half bad :) ) The house is lovely - plenty of room for everyone and plenty of bathrooms and showers etc, so no queuing for facilities. Two kitchens helped the breakfast prep no end!! We also wanted to spend time as a group, and there was plenty of space around the kitchen table / snooker table. There is a large Asda about a 10 min drive away from the Power House, so easy to get the essentials in. We went into Saltburn for the day on Saturday - a minibus for the group was £20 each way which was extremely reasonable. Saltburn was great though we did spend the majority of our time in the lovely Vista Mar..... Definitely get some fish and chips from the Seaview, Delicious! Ah and yes - the hot tub. Lots of fun, it is very funky with the multi-coloured lights and the music system, really does add something to the party!! Bring your flip flops as the floor does get a bit slippy... Great weekend, one which us girls will be talking about for a while!! Thank you!!

We had my hen do at the Powerhouse last weekend and then stayed on for the week. It is the perfect place to relax in the hot tub & have fun. I have never had such a relaxing holiday. The photos do not do it justice! It is amazing. The staircase when you enter is just breathtaking. The beds were realkly compfy and the place was clean and had everything you need. There is plenty in the house to keep you occupied, like board games, snooker table, DVD's, books and plenty of old school CD's! Skinningrove has got a beautiful beach, perfect for the doggies. It is an easy drive to Whitby but far enough to not have all the hustle & bustle. There is a great friendly little pub just next door and a little chippy 5 minutes walk away (you need to try the whitby scampy!) The owners of the Powerhouse are lovely. I would recommend the powerhouse and we will be back!

An amazing property, the photos don't do it justice. The rooms were clean and had lovely bed linen, towels were provided. The kitchen(s) were perfect, fully fitted with appliances and utensils. The living spaces were ideal for our group, there were plenty of sofas. Everything was simply catered for. Some of my group are looking to re book for their personal use at a later date. Highly recommended.

We found the holiday amazing and had the best time so really happy. I have recommended to friends and shown pictures and would definitely book again in a shot. The Kaskane cafe/bar was brilliant being so close too - perfect! We were blessed with weather also as an added bonus so the walk to the beach worked well too.

January 2016
Loved the size of the property, we were a party of 12 and there was enough bedrooms for all our party, this gave everyone their own space. The hot tub and pool table were the real selling point to my using of the property, because Skinningrove is such a small area it meant our party could spend time together.

We had an amazing stay at The Power House. There was plenty of room for all of us to spread out and be comfortable. The hot tub was also a boon and enjoyed by all. We were able to host a wonderful and memorable 80th birthday dinner for my father-in-law, and cooked a banquet for twenty-two in the two well equipped kitchens. A day that will be cherished for many years. We loved it even in December, and would love to come again in the summer too, to make use of the great looking BBQ area.Thank you for providing the space to have a great, big family get-together!

Everyone really enjoyed the generous space this property offered. The two sitting rooms were particularly useful. As we did our own catering, the two kitchens provided all the facilities we needed to prepare all our meals. This was a family gathering to celebrate our ruby wedding and we took some group photos on the lovely feature staircase. We wouldn't hesitate to come back .

A brilliant property for the occasion (a 50th birthday), flexible sleeping and good size lounges to enable everyone to get together but also to have some space when needed. House is beautiful, spacious and unique, a real pleasure to be able to spend a week there. Lots of bathrooms too made life much easier! Pet friendly too was a real bonus and made the holiday with friends and family complete.

The Power House is a beautiful house the pictures on the website don't do it justice. The house is well equipped and very clean, the hot tub is lovely. Stayed here for a hen weekend in June. It was fantastic. The house is so grand, everyone was so impressed. Clean towels and linen provided. We thought it was all very clean and tidy. The hot tub in the summer house was amazing, mood lighting and music too. Very good location, it was easy to find and in a lovely village. I would definitely recommend this and would stay again.

The powerhouse is very impressive from the outside, unfortunately the inside is not so good Some of the kitchen pans needed cleaning before use plus one of the ovens didn't seem to be working properly although it was handy having two kitchens. The utility room had a smell no idea why. The shower curtain in the jack and Jill room needed replacing plus the main bathroom needed a deep clean. Several smaller things needed attention On the plus side the hot tub was excellent and very clean. The owner was very pleasant. With a deep clean throughout the property could be very good

Good lay out inside for what we wanted. Bed linen and towels clean. Hot tub which is quite new very clean and made the stay more enjoyable. All bathrooms, shower cubicles and toilets need a deep clean with bleach as does floor in main bathroom. One of the shower curtains needed replacing. There was a smell in the main bathroom and utility(possilbly foist or damp).DIY needed on minor faults. ie curtain tieback hooks, window latch broken and hanging hooks. The baking tins in cookers needed to be cleaned before use.

We had an amazing time, The Power House was faultless and the village it is in was pleasant and friendly. There is a pub/restaurant virtually next door that is very friendly, serves lovely meals and welcomes children and dogs. The Power House itself is an amazing place to stay, it has plenty of room for family's to spend a holiday together without been under each others feet, it has everything you could possibly need and more. It is beautiful to look at and is in a nice quiet location and its own grounds are private, ideal if you want to have a BBQ. All in all I couldn't find fault in the place and would and have recommended it to my family and friends.

This was our 2nd visit to The Power House and it did not disappoint. An excellent stay, we had a lovely 3 days and I cannot fault the place, it has everything for a fantastic family break. The facilities were top notch, there isn't one thing to complain about, only the the fact that we had to come home. Looking forward to booking this property again, it is excellent for large groups or families.

The facilities included were perfect with all the comforts from home. We prepared family meals every day with ease. The kitchens were great and having a full size fridge/freezer helped as we were able to do a big shop for the week. The House was luxurious and large enough for us all to have our own space if we wanted it and the cosy lounges were great for us all to spend time together too. Best of both worlds! We were within walking distance of the sandy beach which the dogs loved and a lovely coffee shop/cafe/bar 2 minutes away (dog friendly).

It was a lovely big house, well suited for our party of 12. The table which turned into a snooker table was an excellent idea! It was nice having the choice of two rooms to sit in. There was also ample private parking for all our vehicles.

The Power House was the perfect size for our family holiday. We booked it for my Dads 50th as a surprise and it exceeded all expectations. Everybody had their own space and the sitting rooms were more than big enough for us all to enjoy a few drinks together. The pool table was a hit with the kids and the grown ups!
