Just 3 miles north of the cottage, the small city of Ripon is home to an impressive cathedral dating from the 7th century, as well as three interesting museums. There is plenty to see and do around the city too, including Ripon Racecourse, the atmospheric ruins of Fountains Abbey, and the thrilling theme park at Lightwater Valley.
