Area Filey, located in the stunning Filey Bay, is a classic English seaside town with a welcoming attitude that offers a relaxing break and is the perfect spot to stay for walkers and wildlife watchers throughout the year. A low headland that guards Filey Bay, Filey Brigg offers excellent year-round opportunities for marine and bird watching. Some 250,000 seabirds spend the summer at the 400-foot-tall Bempton Cliffs (RSPB Reserve) south of Filey Bay. With its unique stores, winding lanes, and ginnels, the town has maintained much of its charm. There is also a slipway where local fisherman keep their boats, as well as charming beach huts that can be rented during the summer. Two promenades surround the sea, and there are a number of gardens where brass bands perform on Sundays. The Filey Bird Garden and Animal Park, Alpamare UK waterpark, and the Filey Dams Nature Reserve, a wetland reserve where a variety of common and uncommon species can be viewed, are just a few of the many family-friendly attractions in this little town. You can reach the larger town of Scarborough in a short drive, where you'll find fantastic beaches, a castle, the Rotunda Museum, and the well regarded Sea Life Centre. Bridlington, Whitby, Hornsea, and Saltburn are some nearby towns that are worth visiting and show the energy of the lovely North Yorkshire region.
