Nearby Thirsk is just a short drive away and boasts a quaint market place, splendid Georgian buildings, a Norman church and excellent pubs, shops, restaurants, a cinema and a leisure centre. Visit the World of James Herriott Museum, dedicated to the life and works of Thirsk’s own famous vet and author or explore the surrounding rolling countryside and Hambleton Hills, offering excellent walking opportunities. The cathedral city of York and the beautiful East Coast are within easy driving distance, making Dalton a lovely little rural escape to return to after a busy day of exploring.
