The drive up to the cottage is in a terrible state, full of unacceptable potholes.. A small patio outside the back door would benefit the property, only a narrow pathway at present making it very hard not to bring mud into the house when it rains as grassy area gets churned up.

This is the second time we've visited Marsh cottage and we weren't disappointed beautiful surroundings peaceful but easy to get to places to visit.. It has got an unadopted road leading to the cottage but this didn't bother us we love this part of Devon and it was hard to come home this time. With covid sweeping the country we weren't sure we would, be able to go so we were very thankful to be able to go and would definitely recommend it

We have had a great week at Marsh Cottage.. The Cottage is spacious and well equipped with a large secure garden which our Doberman thoroughly enjoyed. There are lovely walks from the Cottage and the nearby beaches at Northam Burrows and Saunton Sands are superb. If you want to ‘get away from it all’ ... this is the place. Many thanks.

We stayed here for a week at the end of the summer holidays. We had such a lovely time a relaxing break. Everything you could need in the cottage perfect for kids and dogs. Beautiful surroundings. We visited the camping site down the lane a few times which is has a nice restaurant and bar. The owners were very friendly and approachable. Yes ok the road to the cottage is bumpy and uneven but we Managed it fine just taking our time it certainly didn’t ruin our stay! Would love to come back again. Thankyou for a lovey stay Laura and family

We had a lovely peaceful week.. In a perfectly positioned cottage, wonderfully situated next to the farm paddock the two friendly horses were lovely and extremely good with our young dogs. The garden is very secure and perfect for alfresco dining with the bbq that is provided. There is also a fair sized fridge in the lovely kitchen which is a lovely family space and by far the best kitchen of any of the cottages we have stayed in to date. There is also a chest freezer in the extra utility areas. The cottage is located within easy reach of many fabulous local places to visit our favourites were Ilfracombe and Woolacombe. We look forward to coming back and exploring more of lovely Devon.

Located at the end of a unmade lane, the cottage has a wonderful location in its peaceful setting.. Our dogs enjoyed meeting the 2 well mannered horses in the next field and I felt happy our dogs were secure in the garden backing onto said field. One small note, if you have a large vehicle (say a van) parking is extremely tight onto the drive but it didn’t spoil our time. Location is good to reach the places we wanted to see, within 30-40 minutes.

Marsh cottage is situated on the edge of Exmoor, which was perfect for our stay, for Star Gazing and being in a rural location. The garden was fully secure for our Dog which was great as we didnt have to go out and make sure they hadnt got through the fence. We felt that there were a few things that let the cottage down and out of all the cottages we have previously stayed in, this would be the one we wouldnt come back to. Firstly the drive, it is located at the end of a rough country lane, about a mile long, which caused havoc with the senors on the car and scrapping the underneath. Unless you had a 4x4 you run the rise of damaging your car. Getting out of the drive and onto the lane was bad as you had a tree stump directly behind so you had to do a three point turn to get onto it. When we arrived, there was a smell that hit you as soon as you opened the front door, and after looking around, the freezer in the hall was moldy and the microwave was rusty inside. The beds and chairs wasnt comfortable at all, which after 4 days our son was complaining that he wanted to go home to a comfortable bed. Marsh cottage is in a perfect location, with stunning views and has the potential to be a great rental property if these issues were addressed.

A truly lovely cottage in a beautiful area.. We went with our two spaniels who had an amazing time. The cottage is comfortable and well-equipped- just what you need when your stay coincides with ‘the beast from the east’! Communication with the owner was excellent and they made sure that we knew how to contact them if needed and dropped by to check that we were okay during the snow. You don’t need a 4x4 to drive along the track, just care. I’ll be recommending this cottage to friends and family and would visit again without hesitation.

The cottage was beautiful, very well equipped, very clean.. The tray of a selection of tea bags, coffee, fruit cake was a very nice welcome. It's a shame we didn't meet the owner to tell us how pleased we were.

Stayed here during May half-term week.. Our two young children loved the garden and it was in a safe location 10 minutes up a farm track from the campsite.

A lovely property striking the right balance between tranquillity and access to the Devonshire coast and countryside..

The cottage didn't have wifi but a bonus if you want to get away from technology.. The piano was brilliant, as music teachers we used it every day and it was in tune too. Ideal if a member of family is working towards a piano exam to be able to practise while having a holiday. The enclosed garden was great for the dog. A lovely comfortable cottage with excellent facilities and within driving distance (35mins) of the coast. Would certainly return.

The only thing we found wrong with our holiday was the access road (pot holes very uneven) car got covered in mud up to the windows every time we went out but we believe this is in line for correction.. The actual cottage was fabulous attention to detail made very welcome ( would love to have this as a permanent residence)

Marsh cottage is in the middle of nowhere, but on saying that it is only a half hour drive wherever you want to go and so is quite central. Amenities are brilliant, dish washer, washing machine, tv, DVD player etc we took our dog (a Great Dane) she had a brilliant time both in the large safe garden and on walks on the dog friendly beaches on the moors ( where there is a fantastic dog friendly pub ) If you enjoy walking with or without a dog we can highly recommend Marsh Cottage, it's spacious and very clean. Great walks and beautiful scenery.
