Area The lovely village of Allithwaite is idyllically located on the southern edge of the Cartmel Peninsula, at the edges of the Lake District and Morecambe Bay. Described as being “set like a jewel in a cloak of green”, this village provides a shop, Post Office and a local pub serving food. The historic village of Cartmel, renowned as the prettiest in the Lake District, is just 2 miles away, and boasts charming streamside walks, quaint cobbled streets littered with antique shops, traditional pubs and the acclaimed Michelin Star-awarded L'Enclume restaurant. It is also home to the famous priory and racecourse. The picturesque Edwardian seaside resort of Grange-over-Sands is also within 2 miles and features a traffic-free promenade, delightful ornamental gardens, a choice of golf courses and excellent birdwatching opportunities. A superb base from which to enjoy this magical area.

A beautiful and stylish apartment. We had a fantastic weekend visiting Grange-over-Sands, Cartmel and Kendal. The apartment is in a fantastic location with great access to the lakes on foot, car or train.
The beds were comfy, the rooms were spacious, the apartment was really well equipped with everything you might need.
The hosts were also really accommodating and ensured we had all the information we needed to enjoy our stay.
We'll definitely be staying again!

Had the pleasure of staying for a weekend break and everything was superb. We were reassured by all the fantastic reviews on the Sykes Cottages website as the property has a 4.97 out of 5 rating. Definately agree with the other 5 star rating on Trip Adviser. Beautiful quiet walks on the doorstep, world class dining in nearby Cartmel, everything you need in Grange-over-Sands and the perfect base for exploring the lakes.

We booked this apartment as part of our 40th wedding anniversary, a big event, a one off and we hoped to make some pleasant memories. We were very impressed on arrival. However after the first night my wife noticed a small bug in the bed, a bit concerned we had a look around but couldn't see anything. However during that day we became aware of bites all over us, my wife was badly bitten on her leg I was bitten on my back.
Sadly we made the decision that we could not stay there for another night. We tried to contact the owner to get her to come while we were still at the property so she could see the bites and look at the beds. No one was willing to attend so we had to leave. Our anniversary was in ruins, restaurants cancelled and what should have been memorable for good memories was no longer. Did we get any kind of refund? No is the answer, didn't even get a proper apology from the owner. We booked through Sykes Cottages who were about as much use as a chocolate teapot. They "investigated" it without speaking to us at all and came to the conclusion that we couldn't have a refund.

Stayed at 8 Kents Bank House for 4 nights with my family and family pet.
Firstly, the accommodation was not a disappointment, it was well equipped and I could not fault the cleanliness of the property.
The location is also a bonus as it looks over Morecombe Bay and is right next to Kents Bank train station that allows you to travel to the centre of Grange Over Sands or Cark. This came in very handy when me and my father-in-law went to watch football at the Keg and Kitchen and struggled to find a taxi after the match.
Another bonus is that you are only a short car journey to Lakeside and then the rest of Windermere.
If you are booking 8 Kents Bank House, I would highly recommend a trip to The Pheasant Inn Allithwaite Rd, Allithwaite, Grange-over-Sands LA11 7RQ, the food and service was excellent and on our 4 day stay over we went twice.
Overall, we had a fantastic stay at 8 Kents Bank House and I would highly recommend this accommodation to any of my friends and family and I am sure we will return in the near future.

A really beautiful appartment,great views and so handy for the train just across the road.. There was everything that you would have needed in the appartment and the beds super comfy.If you arrive in the evening you need basic supply with you as there are no shops nearby.Will be going back again it was just home from home.

It is hard to capture how pleasant the accommodation is over the Internet.. The property does not feel like a 'holiday let'. It feels more like a much-loved home that the owner welcomes visitors to stay in while they are away! We even had a visit from a friendly neighbour; happy to tell us about some good places to go to with our dog. Made for a very special Christmas break.

A truly fabulous apartment with everything you need for a relaxing holiday.. Everything has been so well planned with comfortable furniture and beds.
We found the apartment spotlessly clean. We took our dog with us and floors are tiled in kitchen and dining area so were suitable as well as stylish.
Parking for two cars is great as many places do not have that facility. The apartment has beautiful grounds to use with views over the sea. Grange over sand is a delightful place to stay with easy access to Windermere. Our stay was just perfect.

Amazing apartment.. Really well equipped. All the attractions were pretty close. Beautiful walks nearby. Amenities like Tesco and co op in 1.2 miles. Really helpful neighbours. Beautiful large grassy marshy area for dog to run about and swim just across the road. We didn’t used the train but it links with all the main stations if someone likes to visit by train .

The accomodation was very well situated for great walks, as well as within easy reach of major roads to travel and explore this wonderful area.
The property was decorated to a very high standard, and the amount and quality of equipment was first class.
We were a family of 6, including 2 young children, and there was ample space and room for everyone.
We were very impressed with this property and will certainly look to return in the future.

The only small concern was confusion over the collection of the rubbish.. The bin was already full when we arrived from the previous occupants, and we missed the collection over confusion of date.
This did not spoil a very pleasant stay in a well equipped apartment, but would need looking at to avoid unessesary visitors !!

Not sure if we were the first to stay here.
The entire experience was the result of someone putting great thought & care into the fit out of the house and all amenities supplied.
Right opposite the railway station allows the car to be left and sightsee using a great public transport system.
Quiet an relaxing with a view of the bay through the trees.
