Area With its eleven beaches and seven miles of golden sand, three major beaches, the National Surf Centre, and an endless supply of rolling surf, Newquay is a paradise for beachgoers and watersports enthusiasts. It's easy to have a once-in-a-lifetime vacation in this town, what with its zoo, sea life centre, and eclectic array of restaurants and bars. The South West Coast Path is a long trail that hikers can take in either direction. It follows the coast past breathtaking cliffs, secret coves, and even more beaches. Padstow, with its picturesque harbour and fishing village, is only 16 miles away; Truro, with its museums, cathedral, restaurants, and cobblestone streets; and the Eden Project are all within easy driving distance. A trip on the train will take you to picturesque St. Ives, where you can visit the Tate St. Ives gallery. In fact, Newquay is the ideal vacation home base because of its proximity to all of Cornwall's attractions.
