Bloomi'n Brilliant. THE BEST hosts you could ask for. Maryann and James were very helpful. Highly recommended their butchers on the High street. The BEST pies I've ever had. THE cottage was wonderful, very clean and sterile. Like an operating theatre . I recommend if you like the Seaside with the nearby runswick bay and staithes. And not to far Whitby. On a lovely quiet road in a lovely village full of lovely folk.

This is our third time at this lovely cottage in a beautiful location. Runswick bay and Staithes can be reached along Cleveland Way from Quakers Cottage.

We had a great time at Quakers cottage! !! The cottage was immaculate and we had everything we could need. James and his family were very helpful. They own the village butchers shop where we got some yummy bacon and sausage for breakfast. We literally have not a bad word to say.

James and family couldn’t have been more welcoming and helpful.. Check in was very straightforward, cottage was spotless with everything as advertised. Great location for the North York Moors and coast with Port Mulgrave and Runswick Bay both easy walks from the cottage. Visited the local chippie for delicious fish and chips (advance phone orders only due to covid). James is the local butcher and has a wide variety of excellent meat, as well as bread, milk, fruit and veggies etc. from the shop in Hinderwell. If travelling during covid, book pubs in advance- we couldn’t eat in the local as it was booked a week in advance. Would happily stay here again if visiting the area.

Very clean.. Very nice stay, wish to stay again, but a few niggles- No dishwasher, by main road between Whitby and Staithes, taps in bathroom upstairs configured incorrectly. Hope to come back soon.

We had a lovely break at Quaker's Cottage in February despite the best efforts of Storm Dennis.. Welcome basket of wine and snacks was a lovely surprise and much appreciated. Cottage was warm, comfortable and well equipped; ideal location for exploring Yorkshire coast. Would definitely recommend.

This is a lovely comfortable cottage. It is a good base for exploring both the coast and North Yorkshire Moors. We were made welcome by the owners. However the cottage is right beside a main road, A174. This results in a lot of traffic noise which can be heard inside the cottage even with the windows shut. We found the road was very busy early evening so sitting in the sunny courtyard to relax after a days walking was spoilt by hearing the sound of cars, buses, lorries and bikes zooming past.

This is a superb cottage which surpassed my expectations.. There was a lovely welcome when we arrived and everything is so clean. Faultless stay for the week. We had a really comfortable time. I would both recommend this cottage again and again, and would imagine that I’ll be rebooking at some stage in the future.

So I booked this as a little winter weekend get away. What appealed to me was the location close to Whitby and Runswick bay only a 5 min drive away it was ideal for us. When we arrived greeted very nicely and made to feel very welcome. The cottage it self is amazing inside and I was better than I could have imagined. No issues at all. Will look to stay again in the future.

Perfect cottage in perfect location.. Everything spotlessly clean, scrummy goodies left for us by Marianne (who was lovely) who had decorated the living area with Christmas lights and ornaments. Excellent meal in The Badger Hounds and the village was very convenient, we will definitely visit again.

First time booking a cottage for our annual Whitby holiday. Arrived early Friday evening, was really easy to find, there are some steps to the patio doors where you enter (instead of the front door) into the living area, and kitchen. The cottage was decorated lovely, plenty of space for the 2 of us. Having a downstairs shower room was great as we don't tend to us a bath. Lots of storage space in the garage and the washing machine is a fab touch. Upstairs the bedrooms are lovely, again loads of storage! Mattress on the double bed was far too soft for us (we sleep on a super firm at home), so used the 2 single beds which were fine. Lots of practical touches, like a bathroom jug and jewellery dishes in the bedrooms. Cottage is on a main road, and as your right on the end of the village, cars zoom past, but this can't be heard with the windows closed. Parking is 30 seconds away. There is off road parking provided behind the old school and plenty of road side parking. We would definitely consider booking again

Cottage was better than expected! Perfectly clean and cosy! Double bed mattress was softer than we would be used to, so we used the single beds and they were great! Parking was great and less than a 1 minute walk, although there is also roadside parking. Home from home and the wifi was a nice added extra! We have even discussed returning next year we loved it that much

Quaker cottage as reviewed by many is absolutely perfect.. We (family of 3 with a 7 yr old) spent a very happy week in August with not 1 thing we could grumble let alone complain about. An ideal place for visiting Scarborough, Whitby, Saltburn as we did or for cliff top walks into Runswick bay or Staithes, a different beach every day with very little driving required. Port Mulgrave's a challenge you don't normally face when visiting the beach but all the better for it, we loved it. James the owner was very helpful and although we never met I had no doubts if needed he'd be there to sort any problems. Needless to say we'd happily return, thanks for the most hassle free holiday in years in a perfect English seaside cottage.

The cottage, owner and location was just lovely.. Ideal for a family stay on the Yorkshire coast. Best places to visit is Staithes, Runswick Bay, Robin HoodsBay and Whitbys Sandsend Beach. The accommodation is spacious, comfortable and very clean indeed. However the only negative point that is disappointing is that parking is away from the property. There is space situated near the cottage garage driveway and parking here would be much more beneficial to elderly or family's with push chairs. Possibly a consideration for the owners to make this cottage a perfect stay for all.

The cottage was spotlessly clean, well equipped and very comfortable.. We spent almost every day at either Staithes or Runswick Bay which are both very close with the odd trip into Whitby. Owners very friendly and available throughout the stay. My wife and I are already planning to stay there next year. Great Cottage.

The cottage and its environment suited us perfectly.. The facilities and the people enabled us to further value the environments of the North Yorkshire Moors, its coast and its heritage. The abundance of the sounds of Spring, the flora and fauna were a delight. This was topped by the enjoyment of eating local fresh food!

We had a lovely week last week at the cottage despite the weather not being too great.. The cottage was warm and cosy for the 4 of us (with 2 children 5 and 2). We were made to feel very welcome and there was everything we needed as well as some very lovely surprises when we arrived at the cottage. The owners could not have been friendlier. Thank you so much, Rob, Fiona, Ellis and Sam Dobson xx

March 2018
A fantastic quaint little cottage lovely place to stay and fabulous owners who live next door and own the local butchers/village shop.. The "arrival pack" of some wine crisps and chocolate and milk in fridge for a cuppa was a delightful surprise. I would recommend Quakers Cottage without any reservation at all. We had an amazing week staying here and even the locals in brown cow pub made us feel welcome we didn't want to leave such a fantastic and friendly village.

All was good indeed much better than expected.. We booked for seven days but on the third day there was heavy snow so the owners allowed us to stay an extra two days so we did not have to attempt the long drive home whilst the roads were affected by snow. Marianne, the owners mother, who lived next door called on us every day to make sure we were OK, were warm enough and had sufficient supplies. they could not have been more helpful.

Great location for many lovely days out.. Lovely place. Whitby is a good day out and there is more if you go off the front. Little cobbled streets galore. Quaint little shops. Robin hoods bay is a beautiful place visit.. Sandsend beech is a nice walk and the cafes do lovely food. Altogether a wonderful break. Deb Leah and Marie say thank you to James and family.

We stayed in June, and arrived in a Heatwave, we have been looking forward to being away all winter. Charming cottage and modernised to high spec. It was like a tardis inside so much bigger than we expected . Lovely bathroom upstairs. The bedrooms are pretty and beds were so comfy, downstairs open plan kitchen and sitting room with french doors to a cute outside sitting area was just perfect to have your morning coffee and to relax in the evening. Ample storage space and garage too, to do washing. Bonus was downstairs shower and toilet. Our holiday is also a working holiday for us. Hubby draws caricatures in whitby shambles. Up at 6am and off before the hustle and bustle starts we enjoyed our drive along the coast with wonderful views. Fossilling at Staithes Port mulgrave just down the road, with stunning views. The owner we met twice on our first day funny kept bumping into him and we visited his father's butchers shop in Hinderwell. Which sells everything!! Main shop at Staithes so everything to hand. We had a wonderful time and are booking next year. I did not want to come home. The cottage is on on a main road, but I sleep in ear plugs so didn't bother me. Hubby sleeps like a log so his snoring was actually louder than any cars! Forgot to mention WiFi was a bonus specially for our grown up daughter thankfully. All was good.

If you are used to living on a main road without a garage facility then this is for you. It is very close to a road which starts up at 5.30am with workers (possibly going to the potash mine),buses, lorries, delivery vehicles and normal traffic. There is parking but not outside, though you can stop, it's round the corner in a communal car park. OK, just. Clean, warm and we'll furnished, and the owners are lovely but peaceful it's not.access is in a narrow 'garden' and better use could have been made of the attached garage which is clean and could be used but is not.
