Orchard Cottage is a luxury, detached cottage with hot tub, set next to the owner's home, in the hamlet of Calwich just three miles from Ashbourne. The cottage sleeps five people and has one double bedroom, one twin and one single with a shower room and a bathroom. Also in the cottage is a fitted kitchen with dining area, sitting room with woodburning stove and a conservatory. Outside is a lovely enclosed garden with hot tub, patio area with gas BBQ and furniture, there is also off road parking for three cars. Situated in the Peak District National Park, Orchard Cottage is a lovely holiday home all year round.

Area
The small hamlet of Calwich lies peacefully at the southern end of the Peak District National Park, amidst stunning scenery and offers great walking and cycling opportunities. The nearby market town of Ashbourne with its eccentric street plan, narrow cobbled alleys and quaint coaching inns is something of a haven for antique hunters, offering many great stores, as well as a variety of good pubs and restaurants.

The cottage is perfect from the toastie warm wood burner on arrival, the well equipped kitchen, the welcome hamper full of goodies, the jacuzzi complete with robes and slippers, comfy beds and sitting room. We were a group of 4 ladies celebrating a special birthday and a retirement! 2 of us have stayed here before. The cottage is absolutely wonderful, very warm and cosy but with lots of space. The cottage and hot tub are spotless. The owners Mike and Wendy live next door and are very friendly but discreet. They have thought of everything in the cottage from the lovely bedding, robes, towels not only for the bathrooms but also the hot tub. The welcome pack was wonderful with tasty local produce and the log burner was lit for our arrival which was wonderful. Highly recommended and we will definitely return! Highly recommended is a visit to Chatsworth House and for good, hearty pub food the Roston Inn is fab! Many thanks xx

Having booked Orchard Cottage for a family break we were really impressed with the accomodation.It is spotlessly clean, very well equipped, and maintained and the owners Mike and Wendy are really friendly and eager to please, but also respect their guests privacy. On arrival there was a magnificent welcoming basket of locally sourced bread, milk, biscuits, cake and other goodies. Together with the hot tub and gas barbecue we couldn't have asked for more. The location is ideal for exploring the beautiful rolling countryside, despite being only a short drive away from Alton Towers theme park and other local attractions.

The cottage was all we could wish for and more it was extremely well equipped, spotlessly clean, very good location for getting to other places. Wendy and Mike met us to explain everything through and were very welcoming. When we got there we had been travelling several hours and thought we would have to go back out to get some food and drinks but then we saw the welcome basket which was absolutely amazing and had everything we needed. The cottage was really warm and comfortable and we loved the conservatory seeing the squirrels run around and play we even got them to eat from our hand. We would highly recommend this cottage and we will definitely return

Having booked this holiday cottage in january of this year, we had been looking forward to our stay for months and we weren't disappointed at all. The hosts of the cottage were welcoming, friendly and living close by were on hand to help if we needed anything. They had provided a very generous welcome hamper which had everything from prosecco to locally made bread, eggs, butter and preserves. We all absolutely loved the hot tub, which we enjoyed day and night and also the wonderful outside sitting area. The cottage itself was fabulous and we were particularly impressed with how well-equipped the kitchen was. Literally everything you could need was there from kitchen scales to cling film. We even found detergent and fabric conditioner in the utility room so you could wash and dry all your laundry before heading if you wanted to! The area was brilliant. We did: Alton Towers, Carsington Water and Dovedale as well as trips to Ashbourne. I would highly recommend this cottage to families or any groups really. We were a family of four, but you could easily have 6 people staying without feeling cramped, it's so spacious. Everything was so clean and new-looking too! I literally can't fault the cottage, area or hosts. It was just wonderful. Thank you! :)

We have just returned from a fabulous stay at Orchard Cottage for New Year 2019/20. The cottage is immaculate and the owners Mike and Wendy have thought of everything you could possibly need to make your stay a "Home from Home" experience, and the food & proseco hamper on arrival was a lovely touch. The cottage is furnished to a very high standard and free WiFi. The log burner was on most of our stay and plenty of fresh wood to burn. New Years Eve in the hot tub was perfect, champagne and lots of laughter plus the hosts were entertaining with friends and had some excellent fireworks at midnight. The countryside is fresh and welcoming with some great walks, local pubs were good and Ashbourne is only 4 miles away with plenty of shops, supermarkets etc so you can stock up on food. This has everything you could possibly need for a relaxing break and a get away from the busy humdrum of life. We thoroughly recommend Orchard Cottage and look forward to booking another short stay soon.

Just returned from a 2 night break at Orchard Cottage through Sykes.. It was fabulous, there were 5 girls, 4 travelled from Cardiff and one from Yorkshire, as soon as we arrived we were made to feel very welcome by our hosts Mrs Wendy Greenhough and Mr Mike Greenhough. The log burner had been lit ahead of our arrival and the hot tub was on ready to get straight into. A lovely basket of essentials was prepared for us which contained eggs, biscuits, bread, wine and crisps, milk and butter were in the fridge and a lovely fruit bowl were also included. I would highly recommend staying here if you enjoy fresh air, walks and relaxing. We are already planning our next visit in 2019!!

The cottage had everything a family needs on holiday! The children loved the hot tub, Wifi, smart T.Vs in their rooms and 2 bathrooms! The hubby and I liked watching the different birds out the window while we relaxed with a drink from the tassimo machine (added bonus). Owners left a fantastic welcome basket and we're very friendly on arrival they also gave us privacy all week even with their cottage being next door. The cottage was in a great location which allowed us to visit nearing Dovedale, ILam, Milldale (to enjoy walking), Matlock (Heights of Abraham), Crich Tram Village (Families favourite - went twice, once on our way home too), Beautiful Buxton, Bakewell and the Donnington Grand prix collection museum. Beautiful stay in Orchard Cottage would highly recommend.

We had a brilliant stay, it was a very well equipped, everything was thought about to the last detail even the kitchen was well stocked with kitchen foil, cling foil, food bags and bin bags etc, a hair dryer in the bedroom, shampoo and shower gel in the bathroom and even extra towels for the hot tub, you really don’t need to bring anything! ! The welcome pack was such a lovely surprise too. It’s a lovely and spacious cottage, it’s very quite and set in the middle of nowhere just how we liked it, we will definitely return in the future and the owners Mike and Wendy were great hosts, couldn’t fault anything about our stay, loved every minute even watch the different type of birds that visit every day, we just didn’t want to come home!!

Wow, Wow, Wow.. What an amazing cottage, probably the best we've ever stayed in. The place was immaculate and so well equipped, everything you could possibly want and more. Wendy and Mike were the friendliest, most welcoming helpful couple too, nothing was too much trouble. Our weekend visit coincided with snowy weather so the hot tub was fantastic, sitting, relaxing in there whilst the weather was freezing was just perfect. There was a beautiful welcome hamper to welcome us with luxuries and essentials which was fantastic. The cottage was super cosy too with central heating and a log burning fire, just was you wanted after a bracing walk. Derbyshire is a beautiful area, there's so much to do and so many wonderful walks so the cottage is ideally situated. Our 9 year old son came too and was delighted with the wi-fi and smart TV in the room, such a treat for him. We'll be back again later this year for a week this time as loved it so much.

We stayed at this fantastic cottage for a week which included the New Year and had the most perfect holiday with everything we needed for a relaxing time. We honestly could not find fault with anything and the owners Mike and Wendy are a really lovely couple who ensured that the extra touches made our holiday even more special. The Xmas tree, the welcome pack were lovely and the cottage was equipped to the highest standard I have ever seen, luxurious and practical. This is definately five star quality and the work that Mike and Wendy put into making it special for their guests really is outstanding. The hot tub was amazing and Mike does a great job in ensuring it is clean every day and ready for use. We brought the New Year in at midnight in the hot tub with champagne watching the lovley fire work dispay that Mike set off. We would all like to say a massive thank you to both Mike and Wendy for making our holiday so very special and I have recommended this cottage to all my friends as it really is a wonderful relaxing cottage set in a beautiful area.

We stayed at Orchard Cottage for the few days before Christmas through to Boxing Day and I can honestly say we had the most unforgettable experience. Wendy and Mike had thought of everything to make our stay as comfortable and as festive as possible... a welcome Christmas hamper, Prosecco in the fridge, a huge Christmas tree (that puts our own to shame) and of course the hot tub waiting for our presence! The whole cottage was to a very high impeccable standard and there was plenty of room for four adults and two children. The kitchen was more than equipped for cooking Christmas lunch and we had plenty of towels, robes and slippers(!!!) so that we could utilise the hot tub to the max. Waking up on Christmas morning with two small children was unforgettable in the Derbyshire countryside. After opening presents we spent some time sipping Prosecco in the hot tub feeling like royalty. We were so sad to leave on Boxing Day and wished we were staying the whole week! We will definitely be back, hopefully in the spring to enjoy the surrounding area even more. Thank you so much for an absolutely wonderful and flawless stay!

Orchard cottage was a great place to stay.. Very comfortable and modern with all the facilities you need including the relaxing hot tub particularly after a day spent walking. Mike and Wendy were very friendly and the addition of the welcome basket and other little extras was much appreciated. The location is great - most places are not far to travel by car and there is something to suit everyone, from stately homes to beautiful walks and scenery and for our teenagers Alton Towers being just over 10 minutes drive was a bonus. We would definitely return here and will be recommending to our friends as well.

The cottage was very well presented.. The owners welcomed us on arrival and explained everything to us. The presence of a hamper and fresh fruit was a nice touch. Well what can we say about this beautiful cottage other than what our title suggest. A truly lovely retreat matched only by our wonderful hosts Mike and Wendy. Upon arrival my family and I were warmly greeted by our hosts and shown around the accommodation which is gorgeous, spacious and so tastefully presented. We also had an amazing welcome basket of food and drink which was not only a pleasant surprise but the sheer thought put into it was fantastic. The location of Orchard cottage is perfect and enable us to explore this lovely part of the country we had lovely days out to Bakewell, Matlock, Heights of Abraham and a day to Alton Towers water Park which was only a 10 minute drive. Other days we loved our accommodation and its facilities so much we had a couple of days lazing around Orchard Cottage. To summarize we have had the perfect family holiday in a perfect cottage with perfect hosts who really could not do enough for my family and I and I feel that when we left we didn't leave behind our hosts, we left behind new friends. We will 100% return next year, in fact, I'm counting down the weeks!

One of the best cottages we have ever stayed in. The owners gave it 110% everything you could want from a cottage rental bathrobes slippers shower gel shampoo and conditioner in the bathrooms. Orchard Cottage is in a peaceful valley away from any traffic noise. It is decorated and furnished to a high standard and is spotlessly clean. A great deal of thought has gone into every utensil and facility that the guests could ever need. This cottage and their guests' enjoyment is a passion for the friendly owners. I've just recent stayed at the Orachard cottage for the last week with my husband and 19 year old son. This cottage has utterly fantastic facilitates and was in the perfect location a very short distance from all places of interest to visit (we are keen walkers). The cottage is extremely clean and has everything you need the welcome hamper was a nice suprise, the hot tub for us topped the whole experience off. Looking to return in the near future and would highly recommend this cottage as an amazing place to stay. Stayed here with my wife, 2 kids (aged 13 & 11) and my Mother. We generally try to book a cottage somewhere in the UK for a week around the Easter school holidays and this was easily one of the best we have ever stayed in. The owners are exceptionally welcoming. The cottage sits very close to the owners property using the same driveway with parking easily for 2/3 cars). It has a separate utility room with a washing machine and dryer as well as an ample supply of wood and coal for the fire in the evening! The outside terrace with table and chairs and hot tub is secluded enough to give privacy. The hot tub was such a good experience that we used it every day and has now become a must on our list for next year! Layout of the cottage is good and it was very clean - with a selection of games, puzzles, books and DVDs. Our only disappointment was the lack of WIFI (the owner explained this was due to delayed repair works by BT) and Vodafone mobile reception was poor. However these things could not be avoided and did not stop us enjoying the cottage. We generally tend not to visit the same place twice as we like to visit different areas of the UK but we would definitely consider staying again. If you book this cottage you will definitely not be disappointed!!!

Quite simply put, this is THE best cottage we have ever stayed in. It is beautiful, even better than the photos, and the owners are fantastic. We booked for Christmas 2015 but due to an unexpected illness in the family we didn't actually get there until Boxing Day (4 days late) and to be honest we weren't sure whether to bother making the effort but thank goodness we did as we ended up having a wonderful time, albeit a much shorter holiday than expected! As soon as we arrived we were made really welcome by the owners, the stove was lit and a beautifully decorated Christmas tree had been put up in the living room - we immediately felt at home. The welcome basket was AMAZING - the best we have ever had. The cottage is a really good size and very luxurious with some wonderful personal touches - the hot tub is the icing on the cake. The area is lovely and there is so much to see and do - we can't wait to go back. If you want somewhere to stay with the WOW factor then this is the place - book it now you really won't be disappointed!

The Cottage was clean and decorated beautifully. Coming from a major city, we were pleasantly surprised how peaceful and relaxing this holiday was. Very hard to fault this place. Excellent welcome basket, very well equipped from wifi to hot tub, short drive to walk, cycle or explore the local history. Owners extremely helpful. Well out in the country down a long driveway but 10 minutes from sainsbury wait rose and M & S if you need them. Downstairs single room would be easily wheelchair accessible if you needed it.

This cottage is a home from home. The owners have thought of everything you could possibly need. It is really spacious, modern and clean. The setting is really pretty. It is close to many attractions. The hot tub was an appreciated added bonus. The welcome hamper was really lovely. Loved the coffee machine, the selection of DVD's, magazines available and the SMART TV's. It was great for our one year old and two year old. We put a stair gate between the kitchen and hall and they still had plenty of space to play in/get about (kitchen/lounge/sunroom). Fantastic holiday all round all thanks to such fantastic accommodation. Thanks to the owners! Highly recommend!

We had a wonderful time. It is a great area to explore with lots to see and do. The cottage was lovely and gardens were well maintained, they looked very pretty. I will definitely be recommending to family and friends, we hope to return again soon.

The owners were lovely and very welcoming. The house was in a fabulous condition with the gardens particularly well cared for. The kitchen had everything you could wish for and more. The tremendous hot tub was a great bonus in the spectacular garden with the most amazing flower baskets and tubs. Although the owners stay next door, we only saw them on our arrival and departure.

This cottage is a gem with the owners providing a luxury cottage. We stayed here for a week and totally fell in love with the place. It is ideal for going out for the day for long walks or visiting some lovely places. I would give this cottage 10/10, we will be back.

The most comfortable cottage we have stayed in. Had lovely leather sofas for the evening, a log burner for cooler nights, a great range of kitchen equipment and fantastic hot tub. In lovely quiet setting with friendly owners.

Myself and 3 other friends stayed at this lovely cottage for 3 nights whilst we visited Alton Towers resort (a short and traffic free journey from the cottage) and we were all thouroughly impressed with the establishment, the owners were welcoming and accustoming considering we arrived at the time of 11.30pm! The cottage itself was excellent, extremely clean and with more features than could be dreamed of including a quality kitchen with all utensils and appliances required, a lovely living space and bathrooms were top of the range. Of course the hot tub helped to put the icing on the cake! Considering we were only the second set of people to stay at the cottage i thought they had already got it spot on! Already planning to go back and stay there even just for the cottage itself, a pleasure.
