We loved this accommodation for our family reunion of 5 adults and a baby. We had lots of personal space in this large accommodation which is very well equipped with everything useful without being cluttered. The outside area is private and secure. Highlights were the Peak Wildlife Park and the heritage Churnet Valley steam train, both within a few miles. We made visits to Bakewell and the English Heritage Brindley Mill in Leek. Thornbury Hall Indian restaurant in Kingsley Holt is excellent and we visited Ipstones pubs and shop too. Thanks to Karen and her team who keep the place so clean and welcoming

What an amazing place, felt at home as soon as we walked through the door. As a party of 8 adults and a dog, it catered well in terms of space for everyone. Fully equipped to meet all our needs, the owners have thought of everything you could possibly need. Lovely to speak to them before we arrived and after settling in, to make sure we was ok. Would highly recommend this accommodation to anyone.

This is the fourth time we have stayed at Meadow Place with our family. the cottage is spacious, well equipped and extremely clean and welcoming. Due to the layout even with 10 people together you do not feel on top of each other. It is a ten minuet drive form Alton Towers. There are two local pubs and shop a five minuet walk from the cottage We visited Trentham Estates - shops, garden centre and amazing gardens a monkey forest where you can see the monkeys in their natural habitat close up. I would recommend the Fox and Goose pub - amazing food Would recommend Meadow Place to anyone looking for a place to stay with a large family.

Huge spacious converted farmhouse.Upside down house, only thing we found it did not have, was a sharp knife, or sharpener! Fantastic place for family get togethers! without being on top of each other, all bedrooms ensuite! fully enclosed garden, to keep your dogs safe. all mod cons.Huge dining room, even huger lounge! Had a wonderful week.

The owner was very helpful and came round shortly after our arrival to make sure we knew how to operate everything.. It was lovely to have the courtyard for the dogs to run in, and they enjoyed the holiday as much as we did. Only thing I would point out is that Sykes is not giving out the right contact phone number.

This is an amazingly lovely holiday cottage.. Big enough for 10 people without feeling on top of each other and superbly equipped. We had a brilliant time and would like to thank the owners for being so friendly and their obvious hard work in beautifully presenting this fabulous property. We can't recommend this property, or area, highly enough.

December 2018
We booked Meadowplace over Christmas week and to celebrate a 40th birthday.. Upon arrival the cottage was beautifully decorated for Christmas which the children especially all loved the festive touch. The cottage is stunning, the pictures don’t do it justice. Beds are all comfy and all have en-suite facilities. The only slightly downside was that the electric showers in the double rooms were not very powerful but the nicer ones off the mains in the twin rooms were much better. Cottage is really well equipped with all cons and accessories. The log fire was amazing and the extra supply of free wood is a nice touch. Overall we had a brilliant time and it’s an amazing cottage to meet up for celebrations, good local pubs too. Would definitely return

The beautifully converted barn was fitted out to the highest standards.. The insulation of the building was so efficient that the rooms felt warm with minimal heating at the beginning of October. The bedrooms on the ground floor were a little cooler after 10pm which was exactly what we wanted. The wood and coal burner in the sitting room was stocked with large quantities of logs and coal but was never needed because the central heating was so effective. We particularly appreciated the four bathrooms. All the facilities were just as described and the kitchen was fully equipped with all we needed. We were greeted by the owner who gave us all the necessary basic information and then simply left us to enjoy the break. One of our daughters came over for a day with her family and was tremendously impressed. We would certainly recommend Meadow Place very warmly and hope to revisit it.

Just finished week in this cottage, 4 adults & 4 children. It's a beautiful cottage & can't fault it. 4 lovely bedrooms downstairs, massive sitting room upstairs. Nice big dining room too. Kitchen has everything you could need & there's also a lovely sunroom upstairs from the kitchen which has another bed on it. Great garden too, which we sat out on late every night as it was so hot. It's on a lovely village. There's 3 pubs. We ate twice at Marquis of Granby which was great. Village surrounded by beautiful countryside, with plenty of information in cottage about things to do. It was great.

Cottage is in a small village well placed to explore the Peak District and Staffordshire.. The cottage itself is spacious and accommodated our party of 8 well. Well equipped and the owner Karen came to introduce herself on day of arrival. Very friendly and welcoming and said just to knock if we needed anything, which we didn't. Would definitely recommend the cottage and would like to return to the Peak District in years to come to do some walking, without children!

July 2018
A very roomy and comfortable house.. Brilliant conversion even with the ' upside down' design still kept the natural old world charm. Ideal for walking the Peaks and canals. Red Lion pub was our 'local' as food spot on. Owners house next door and nothing too much trouble.

April 2018
Lovely barn conversion which has ensuite facilities for all bedrooms plus an extra upstairs loo.. Very impressive as you walk into the open plan upper floor. There is a sun room/ children's room which is in need of renovation. I would not want to use it as a bedroom in its current state which is a shame as it is big enough to be split in two. Overall a very nice place stay which provided a convenient base for a walking holiday. Would definitely recommend.

As this was a surprise birthday for my dad and had family coming from as far away as Scotland, this was the perfect location for us all to get together and spend time with each other.. The rooms were spacious yet cosy and we felt very much at home. There was enough room for us to stay comfortably together and have our own space too. The kitchen had everything we could possibly need to cook up meals and assemble a teetering birthday cake. The entrance room itself was a sight to behold. My brother even manged to fit his kayak in there as he ferried us to walk through Dovedale. Thank you to Mr and Mrs Humphrey's who let us bring our aged dog with us, who really is one of the family. You made us feel comfortable and at home. I am sure we will be visiting when another special birthday appears on the horizon. The Marriotts

The only reason that we wouldn't book this property again is that we like to change locations when we meet up..

We would not recommend this property at all, there was a revolting disgusting smell in two bathrooms and the smell went into the bedrooms. What a shame, the size of the accommodation is good but two of the bathrooms really stank when used. Evidently according to the owners and Sykes there is an airlock problem, hence the smell. Also another bathroom had a toilet that leaked and the grandchildren kept getting wet socks. The owner who lives next door said try pushing the toilet back a bit and the leak may stop! She also said don’t use two things in the bathroom at one time to stop the smell from happening. We didn’t really want to go to the toilet without washing our hands!!! We would not recommend this property!!

This place is just magical, the photos we saw just don't do it justice at all. It's cosy, its pretty, its well equipped, it's spacious! Beautiful location, easy to find, plenty of space to park, comfy beds (although a little squeaky) fantastic living room and a magnificent hall entrance! None of us wanted to leave this beautiful holiday home, i won't hesitate to go back if we get the chance!

I cannot put in to words how much we loved this house! !! The photos do not do it justice at all, extremely good value for money! Beautiful location, beautiful drive in, stunning house, excellent facilities! Plenty of parking, wonderful sized living room, reasonable sized kitchen, lovely bathrooms, lovely garden area! We will 100% be considering booking again next year! The only down side were that the beds were a bit squeaky but that is the only thing I would be able to make a little grumble about. LOVE LOVE LOVE!

Have just returned from a short break in this amazing holiday home. It was absolutely beautiful, wonderfully decorated and furnished, well equipped with everything provided apart from bath towels. July 2015
Me and a 8 other friends decided to go on a week holiday, we wanted a place with things to do and places to go, and by no means were we disappointed. Meadow Place was amazing, considering we were a large group of 18 year olds, it was great that the owners were trusting, on the first day they came to see if we had settled in okay and if there were any problems, which there were non. The building and garden were great, very spacious, good sized rooms, and great facilities. The living room was spacious and warming, and the house was just a nice size, at no point did anybody feel as though we were falling over each other. due to it being self catering, there was a small corner shop in town, with basic supplies, but a 5 minute drive away in Cheadleton there was a Morrisons and an Asda. Moreover it was only a 15 minute car journey from Alton Towers, which was a great day out. Overall I was extremely happy with the house, a great bargin, well placed, overall I would recommend to any family and friends. Hope to come back soon.

The 'cottage', a converted barn, in the lovely village of Ipstones was a great place to stay! The whole property was well equipped with plenty of space for our party of 9. All of the 5 bedrooms had plenty of space with comfortable beds and clean bathrooms. Upon arrival we were greeted by the owner, who was happy to help and very welcoming. We couldn't have asked for any more on the break and I recommend this property to any party of a similar size!
Mr Robinson

This was an excellent property for a crowd of friends. The furnishings, bed-linen, etc. Were of a very high quality without detracting from the 'home from home' feel.

April 2015
We have just returned from a long weekend at this property. We were a party of 8 (extended family) and a number of canine guests too. The property was great, with 4 x bedrooms on the ground floor and all en-suite so each couple had their own space, then spacious comfortable communal areas upstairs. There is plenty of off road parking too. The property is really well equipped and in a great location with 3 pubs (2 that serve food) and a village shop all within a short walk. I really can highly recommend staying here.

February 2015
Meadow Place! A superb holiday 'cottage' (rather, a large beautifully converted barn!) where it would not have mattered to be snowed in, or cut off from the world! With a roaring fire, 50inch TV and lots of rooms to lose excited toddlers, we certainly enjoyed a happy family get-together! The outings to Sudbury Hall, Ilam Park and Ashbourne endeared the area to us - we certainly need to come back to see more!
Mr Holmes
January 2015
The proportions of the cottage and its location in a good village with pubs and shop within walking distance. As my group are walkers, we like that there are walks from the cottage and also that it is close to the Peak District and The Roaches. We particularly liked the superb lounge with wood burner, 4 bedrooms being en-suite, and the spacious hallway. Had an attentive owner, who seems to care that we enjoyed our holiday.

December 2014
I have seen a lot of people saying this property is ideal for 'older travellers'. We spent a long weekend there in December with a group ranging from early 20's to 50's and I would say this property is ideal for anyone, regardless of age. Clean, well presented, and far more spacious than we had hoped for, we were all a little blown away by the size of the property upon arrival, even with a group of 10 space was never an issue. The unlimited logs and coal for the open fire were fantastic, and the location is peaceful but secluded so there is no concern that you may be annoying the neighbours (within reason, of course). The owner popped round shortly after we arrived to run through things we may not be aware of, such as how to control the heating, where to find more wood for the fire, and where the bins were located if we filled the ones in the property. Other than that we were very much left to ourselves while we were there which was great. Absolutely no complaints, with a well stocked shop and multiple pubs in the village, and many scenic walks in the nearby area Meadow Place really is a fantastic and well priced property if you are looking to get away to the countryside for a while, I would definitely recommend it.

It is clean and well equipped We spent a week there from 31 May to 7 June and really enjoyed our time in the area, there are so many beautiful walks and nice pubs! We particularly enjoyed coffee and chatting to local people at Cafe Connect in the Memorial Hall.

Lovely old building with loads of character and room. The owners were very friendly and the village is in a beautiful position on the Staffordshire Moors. We didn't need to go far to find excellent walks, wonderful scenery, pretty villages and fantastic gardens to visit. The lounge is huge, the dining room is part of a minstrels' gallery and through the other side of the kitchen is a good-sized children's playroom.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here ,all facilities were excellent, beds comfy, one downside was the amount of spiders in the bedroom with the french doors I counted and killed 25 in two weeks ,they where big ones!. i was a bit disappointed with the view from the living room I could only see rooftops or someones garden.

August 2012
Nice neighbours and the people in the area were very friendly. I think everyone we passed in the street spoke to us and made us feel welcome. Property is very roomy even for 10 people. All rooms are really nice. Lots of information provided, both for things relating to the property and of places to visit in the area. The games and wifi were appreciated. The upstairs living area was nice as it had all the sunlight. Plenty of safe parking space within the property boundary. Overall a very good holiday property - we would certainly like to return.

Indoor facilities first class. Bags of space without ten of us "living on top of each other" Good pub doing huge meals at good prices only walking distance away. The week we were at Ipstones was not good but the log fire with no restrictions on use of logs was a first class bonus. No shortage of facilities in the catering - loads of cooking utensils and glasses etc. All ion all a very pleasurable and memorable stay.

April 2012
We were there during rather bad weather but staying indoors was no problem. A log fire and two lounges made it very comfortable and warm for eight of us to enjoy this large cottage. We ventured out to a nearby pub which was good for real ales and over large plates of good English pub food. There was also a good selection of National Trust properties in easy driving distance.

We hired Meadow Place in December for a week long house party for family and friends, and were not disappointed. The house is an ideal setting for a party, with its galleried dining area and chandelier, and is extremely well equipped to cater for entertaining. Various guests complete with dogs arrived and departed at different times of the week, and all were impressed. The village has 3 pubs, with 2 serving food, and there are great walks to be found nearby. Owners on hand, but very unobtrusive. Already planning for next event. Would highly recommend.

This was a wonderful property ideal for what we wanted it for which was a pre-Christmas family gathering. It was spacious, well kept, and equipped with everything we needed. I particularly liked the huge lounge and open fire. The owners were friendly and helpful. There was a local shop and pub and it was close enough to everything the Peak District has to offer. We had a lovely weekend.

It was beautiful and as there were four generations of family staying, there was more than enough room for all of us! We had a wonderful Christmas and the owners made us more than welcome and we would defiantly be going back in the near future!

Thought the 'upside down' layout was an unusual twist that worked really well for all of us. Bedrooms and en-suites all a fab size and decorated to give a warm welcome to all who arrived. This is an ideal cottage for either four couples or two families. It has a lovely homely feel to it. The owners made us very welcome. Ipstones is a great base to explore from. Hidden gems were Cheadle, Foxfield Railway, Leek and of course there is great walking.

There were plenty of bedrooms (all with bathrooms) for the whole family which meant we had our own spaces. The living area was very spacious. The kitchen was not especially well equipped but as we ate out most of the time this did not bother us much. The garden would be good for eating out though we didn't use it. There is loads to do in the area and some great places to eat especially the Manifold Inn.

The property was ideal for us as a 3 generation family - having en-suites to all bedrooms was very useful. The surrounding area gave us plenty of options for things to do within a reasonable distance. We would highly recommend the 'Marquis of Granby' in Ipstones village for meals.

The property is much more spacious than would be apparent from the photos, and wonderfully quirky in its layout. A complete joy for all of us to have en-suite facilities. Everywhere we went in Ipstones we were warmly welcomed and given excellent service, by young and old. We are already looking to book this property again.

This was our third year staying at Meadow Place and it was as clean and fresh as the first year. Meadow Place is a beautiful barn conversion and delightful to stay in, especially in winter with a roaring fire going. All rooms being an ensuite is a real bonus. We are already planning our fourth stay for next year!

The cottage was spacious and the facilities, especially the en-suite bathrooms were good. The cottage looked better than the brochure pictures. The village people were friendly and the location although built up around the cottage was very quiet. We were all impressed by the way the conversion had made the most of the space. We would recommend it and would return. The area is beautiful and in spite of the weather we were able to do a couple of long walks.

The house was warm and the owners welcoming. Particularly liked the log burning stove, the fact there was a Christmas tree and the big wooden refectory table which we could all fit around for long meals. The big squashy sofas and coffee table made the big living room very comfy for a larger party to relax in - we had a really lovely early family reunion Christmas and there was lots of room for everyone.

It never felt crowded even with ten of us in it. It was good having en-suite facilities to every bedroom. The children enjoyed the playroom, even though they were rather old for the toys in there. There were plenty of places suitable for families to visit within a relatively short distance. We were able to go somewhere different each day.

Meadow Place was rented to celebrate my wife's 50th birthday with the rest of the family, hence the requirement for 5 bedrooms. We were not disappointed !! The barn conversion was superb and allowed sufficient room for everyone without being in each others pockets. Local scenery was stunning and people from the village friendly. Enough places of interest to keep everyone happy for a week including trips to Alton Towers, Heights of Abraham, etc. Seriously, this is one of the best family holidays we have had.
