Really peaceful & comfortable - even quieter than at home.. Very welcome when some people out & about are not observing social distancing & we wanted to go back to the cottage more often than usual - it lived up to its name of retreat! TV & WIFI were excellent - very helpful for the wet days so we could enjoy relaxing the whole time we were away. All the kitchen facilities we needed to cook & eat in the cottage, also particularly welcome in the current climate. Some lovely walks from Walks on the Northumberland Coast by David Haffey - best enjoyed getting out early before the crowds though there is always space on the lovely wide beaches. Only an hour to the Scottish borders which were lovely to enjoy on the wet days - abbey ruins & some gorgeous galleries. We would love to visit again.

The accommodation was extremely well kitted out, and beautifully presented.. We appreciated the attention to detail, it was like staying in a luxury hotel with the benefit of added space. Jeremy was very welcoming- we would definitely recommend Newton Retreat to anyone.

We just came back from a wonderfull week in Newton Cottage, a lovely, super tiny, clean house, everything you need is there.. We spended x-mas there, with lovely weather, blue sky, no rain! The owners of the house Elaine and Jeromy are sooooooooooooo ,nice, funny, kindfull, helpfull. Thanks for the whisky Jeromy ;-) We were also allowed to get to know the dog family....5 of them….how cute and friendly!!! You find some good restaurants/pubs near by the house (10-15 min drive) the local people are very friendly and kind, helpfull, out of the ordinary!!! We slept so well in the beds in the cottage, very good mattresses, in the kitchen, you find everything for cooking, good WiFi reception, nice bathrooms and everything very, very clean!!!! To greet us we found a great welcome packet with coffee, tea, cake, cookies, prosecco, water, milk and much more….so nice THANK YOU!!!!! The Cottage and the area absolutely recommendable…...and of course the owners!!!! Hope to be back soon!!!! Lovely greetings from Germany Carolin und Uwe :-)

This is a wonderful cottage.. Modern, clean and has all you need for a comfortable stay. Loved the welcome goodies too. The location was outstanding, from the babbling brook behind us to the expansive country views. The Barn Owl hunting in the field next to us was amazing too. Would definitely recommend and we will most certainly be back to enjoy the comforts and relaxation that Newton Retreat has to offer.

This was our 2nd visit to this property & as before we were impressed with the home from home feel, the furnishings, the full range of kitchen equipment, the 2 en-suites, the location is so quiet with stunning sun rises and a perfect base to explore the north east..

The lodge was excellent; maintained to a very high standard.. It was a real home from home- well equipped and had lots of little well thought of touches to make it an even more enjoyable stay. It was very peaceful - just what we wanted. Although it was well off the main road you were not faced with driving up dirt tracks to get there. Jeremy our host, was very welcoming when we met him and then we were left in peace to enjoy the rest of our time there. The Rock/Christon Bank area is a great base for being able to visit lots of places. We think The Newton Retreat is an excellent place to stay at any time of year. FEEDBACK CAN BE PUBLISHED BUT NO NAMES PLEASE.

The standard of the accomodation was 5 star, and far exceeded our expectations.. Rent this property and you will want for nothing, and you'll bathe in the biggest deepest bath you've ever bathed in. You are so far from the road there is zero traffic noise. All you will have for company is the birds and the occasional passing hare.

From the moment we arrived at Newton Retreat we knew we would have a lovely time.. It is a really comfortable place with everything you need for your stay. Little extras from the owners Jeremy and Elaine from the welcome pack luxury toiletries make it extra special. We were met by Jeremy who explained how the technical things worked and also gave us information about the local area and places to eat. The outside space is amazing lovely gardens and we did manage to sit outside and take in the lovely views. Newton Retreat is a lovely tranquil place and I would recommend it to anyone wanting to stay in this part of the country.

We had a wonderful week at Newton Retreat in Northumberland.. The open plan cottage was absolutely gorgeous, with everything you could possibly need, including a welcome pack filled with goodies. The furnishings were stylish, beautiful and top quality, which made our stay really luxurious. We enjoyed a lovely sunny walk from Craster to Dunstanburgh castle, then ate a delicious seafood lunch at The Jolly Fisherman. Bamburgh and Alnwick castles were both worth visiting and our sons, 9 and 10 really enjoyed them. We had a lovely day at Berwick where we walked round the old walls and took in the views. All in all a great area and a beautiful cottage.

Newton Retreat is a very comfortable property with good quality furnishings and equipment.. There was nothing we needed and easily surpassed other properties we have stayed in for equipment. It is an ideal cottage for both winter and summer visits. The views are stunning. The owners are very helpful and available at all times. We highly recommend and will return.

Info could usefully point out the walk to Embleton could be very overgrown! And indicate clearly where the route is.
