Marsh cottage is situated on the edge of Exmoor, which was perfect for our stay, for Star Gazing and being in a rural location. The garden was fully secure for our Dog which was great as we didnt have to go out and make sure they hadnt got through the fence. We felt that there were a few things that let the cottage down and out of all the cottages we have previously stayed in, this would be the one we wouldnt come back to.
Firstly the drive, it is located at the end of a rough country lane, about a mile long, which caused havoc with the senors on the car and scrapping the underneath. Unless you had a 4x4 you run the rise of damaging your car. Getting out of the drive and onto the lane was bad as you had a tree stump directly behind so you had to do a three point turn to get onto it.
When we arrived, there was a smell that hit you as soon as you opened the front door, and after looking around, the freezer in the hall was moldy and the microwave was rusty inside. The beds and chairs wasnt comfortable at all, which after 4 days our son was complaining that he wanted to go home to a comfortable bed.
Marsh cottage is in a perfect location, with stunning views and has the potential to be a great rental property if these issues were addressed.
