We stayed at the property recently and had the most fantastic experience. Set in a remote and idyllic location surrounded by greenery, the property had everything we needed and so much more. Extremely spacious for 8 of us, comfortable and warm, the house had a homely comforting vibe. Excellent for a group of friends or large families with plenty to keep you entertained, including table tennis, games, books, outdoor sports including a football pitch at the back of the garden. The stunning garden seemed to never end and was beautifully maintained. The kitchen is the main hub of the house and had everything we needed including 2 dishwashers, 2 washing machines, 2 dryers, 2 microwaves. Although initially daunting, the AGA stove and oven (which is on 24/7), was easy to use and fortunately for us, we had a chef in our party who enjoyed cooking us feasts every day. It was nice to have the option of using a normal cooker and oven too. We arrived at the property and noticed a generous hamper with essentials, which was a nice touch, and the owner Emily was a fantastic host, very pleasant and helpful and greeted us on arrival with ample logs for the wood fire. We knew she was only a phone call away if we needed anything which was reassuring. The only minor niggles about our stay were the slow Wi-Fi, which is a pain if you enjoy streaming live sports and the TV’s in both the living room and games room could perhaps be upgraded. Overall, we had an amazing time at Marl House, from the moment we arrived till the end of our stay. The property and the surrounding areas are immaculate, and we would love to come back again in the future one day. Zak and friends Thank you.

Stayed here as part of a family gathering in September 2021. The location is very out of the way but access is good and the postcode took us straight to the property. The local tracks provided ample quiet space to walk the dog and the gardens are excellent for family games and running around with children. It would be nice if the gardens were secured at the side of the property and the gap on to the track at the top. The property is very impressive with a maze of rooms and facilities for you to make use of. The kitchen is very well equipped but bizarrely has an aga running constantly making it very warm in there and dangerous with small children in the property. The bedrooms are all mixed, we stayed in one of the wings that were more modern build and although comfortable enough, when you look at the details they are somewhat shoddy, some popped screw heads, badly repainted sections and lights that are largely useless, especially if you want to use the mirror in the bathroom. Shower facilities are lacking, the wet room was great but shared among everyone in the house was a problem. Although Wi-Fi is advertised it’s largely focused on one or two rooms and isn’t very quick at all, you would struggle to work from here if required and for something charging so much a week I was hoping for better. Those hoping to have kids stream or game to keep them entertained won’t want to rely on this. 4G signal is very poor inside the property. One positive for those with young children is the toy room which had a great supply of toys to keep my niece entertained. The table tennis is also a great way to help pass the time. Would be great to set the toy room up with a bigger screen to be able to close it up and have a film night or similar. Local facilities are very basic, there are small shops in Whithorn and Port William that can supply most things for you if required. Overall a lovely place for a short break but expect to be very isolated.

Marl House is just wonderful. We were lucky enough to stay here with friends. A group of 6 adults and 7 children which the house absorbed very well. The house is large and very well equipped whilst maintaining a cosy and homely vibe. The views are stunning and the surrounding grounds beautiful - just perfect for children to safely explore and run around. There are many various dining spots inside and out which boast stunning views and its very peaceful at night. I can highly recommend a stay here- so relaxing!

Marl House was utterly amazing. Had everything you needed and decorated to such a high standard. It really is a very special Place to visit and seems to have a different climate to the rest of Scotland- felt like the south of France. Bbq, beach, sport, canoeing, the list goes on. Will definitely be back. Thank you
