Area
The village of Embleton can be traced back to beyond medieval times and during the Wars of the Roses, it suffered much from the ravages of Scottish invaders. Today, ancient castles and ruins stand testament to Embleton's turbulent past; the Church of Holy Trinity is a late-Norman church, dating from the 12th century, later to be restored in Victorian times. Viewed from the sea, the undulating whinstone ridge that shelters much of the village from east winds, resembles a caterpillar, hence the old name 'Emeldune', meaning the hill of the caterpillar. The rolling countryside means that golfers can enjoy a good 18-hole links golf course that overlooks the beautiful Embleton Bay. Recently launched is the Embleton Heritage Trails Project, consisting of six trails, ranging from a short walk around the village, to a longer six mile route, following the spectacular coastline and inland into the tranquil countryside.

Region
Northumberland is a heady combination of fishing villages, market towns, sandy beaches, magnificent castles and historic Hadrian's Wall, tied together by beautiful countryside and abundant wildlife.

Excellent accommodation, hairdresser and massage needs advertising more.. In walking shower room, there needs to be something to store/place toiletries on.

The best thing about Long Cart Cottage was the view.. The accommodation was very clean and spacious and comfortable and we had no concerns over the virus during our stay. The king sized bedroom was spacious and mattress comfortable, but the view out of the window was of the SUV of the owner, thus not very private. Also of note is that this cottage is very close to the chicken coop which contained 3 cockerels, but they were not too noisy but I would not recommend this cottage for light sleepers. The ensuite wet room adjoins the single bedroom and master bedroom and only 1 door locks from the inside. Note that the property only contains 1 shower (in the wet room) and it completely wets the sink and toilet upon use. As there was no cabinet for your toiletries, these too got wet. Both bathrooms do not have a window. The kitchen was very well stocked and dish washer tablets provided. The fridge and freezer are separate and as a family of 4 we struggled with the small fridge. The outside patio was lovely but note that it is not completely private from next door's hot tub. Wifi signal was perfect but no mobile signal. The location was about perfect with Seahouses and A1 about 10-15 min drive away in opposite directions.

We particularly enjoyed the beautiful view of Dunstanburgh Castle from our living room windows, the lovely swimming pool with rota to ensure one household use at a time, and the generous amount of green space at the property for the children to play in..

We absolutely loved our holiday here.. The cottage was lovely with incredible views to the sea and castle and the walk to the beach through the fields was gorgeous. The swimming pool was also great. I would love to come back!

Excellent accommodation- comfortable and fabulous facilities.. What makes this place however is it’s beautiful location . Views are amazing and the setting makes for a memorable and very relaxing family holiday . Close to fabulous beaches and restaurants. Indoor pool is an added bonus and is of a very high specification . We have already discussed returning .

Excellent accommodation, clean, comfortable and with everything we needed.. Lovely views over to Dunstanburgh Castle and nice walks in both directions. The swimming pool was great - a real bonus, especially for one member of the family with mobility problems who was unable to enjoy the walks. We would use this accommodation again. Booking easy and efficient, our only complaint being that to change the booking slightly, which would have incurred no extra charge for the property, would have cost us £30. This seems excessive for a couple of clicks / emails.
