Us 4 old gets stayed in this lovely spacious modern and spotless cottage for one week and enjoyed the friendliness and help of the owner, Kate. the actual building has had a complete makeover with new plaster work and all modern kitchen appliances, heating etc. We were expecting some noise from the working farm but hardly heard anything. It was truly lovely, quiet and and comfortable. All the rooms are spacious and there is is 48-in smart television in the lounge with Netflix, primevideo.com eccetera. Two paces from front door is another leading to a large room equipped with a full size snooker table and table tennis. There are stand-alone heaters in this room if needed and an ample supply of ques, chalk and table tennis bats and balls. we went to the Poachers Pocket for a Sunday lunch which was excellent and it is only a couple of miles away or we were told it could be walked across the fields but we didn't attempt that as it had been raining a lot. There is plenty to do around the area. We hope to return.

Our family spent a lovely week at this beautiful cottage.. It had recently been renovated and is fully equipped with everything you need for a comfortable stay. It has a great games room attached with snooker and ping pong tables. It is set on a working farm but is very quiet and peaceful. The location was perfect for sightseeing areas such as the Roman baths, Wookey hole and Wells cathedral. I would highly recommend staying here. Thank you Kate for a very pleasant stay.

We have just enjoyed the most amazing week at this property. A beautiful setting and a real 5* welcome, with thoughtful additions including milk in the fridge (so an immediate cuppa was possible!), local pressed apple juice and delicious cake! The owners were so helpful and friendly. Upon arrival the cottage was sparkling - immaculately clean and well equipped. The games room was a real winner-having 2 "nearly teens", any spare time was spent having a game of pool or snooker or table tennis. Having 2 bathrooms was a wonderful bonus and plenty of toilet paper was provided! We will most definitely be returning to this wonderful gem... It certainly ticked all the boxes for us. Thank you so much for your hospitality and thoughtfulness.

Lovely cottage in a very rural location.. The owners next door were friendly & left us to our own devices. Only small criticism ( not that it was in the control of the owners or Sykes ) was there was no village pub within walking distance as was made to believe - the nearest in Cranmore looks derelict, so would have to drive to nearest establishment.. this aside, very peaceful & we were even treated to a live birth of a calf on the farm . Snooker & table tennis in a private game’s room was a nice touch, as was the carrot cake & apple juice left by Katie. We will love to return one day soon ❤️

We had a fantastic week at Leigh Holt.. The property was immaculate and the little extra touches were much appreciated. We spent hours in the games room playing snooker, pool and table tennis. There were plenty of cues, rests and bats to use. The living room was so comfortable as were the beds and there was loads of storage space in the bedrooms and in the kitchen; as well as lots of plates, cups etc to use. The cooker and the dishwasher were easy to understand straight away - something we haven’t always encountered - and there were all the utensils you could need, including a pizza cutter (we had taken our own just in case but didn’t need it). We would love to go back again, which shows what a great place it was. Thank you.

Fabulous, spacious and well equipped cottage, beautifully decorated throughout.. Lots of parking space and easy access to main roads despite the rural farm setting. The games room is large, well equipped with individual heaters and a music system. The bed was very comfortable and the bedrooms, like most of the single level accommodation were very spacious. Kate, the owner, met us on arrival and was easy to contact if required. She added some very thoughtful extra touches which were greatly appreciated. Highly recommended.

We booked a New Year’s break and what a disappointment The property was advertised including facility for 5, wood burning fire, games room and 5* accommodation. The reviews on Sykes Cottages were 5*. So we booked as a bit of luxury and more than maybe we would have normally paid what the hell. The reality was less but first lets focus on the positives - property was clean and spacious, locality was ideal Now on to the negatives : 1. No working fireplace just ascetics 2. Beds were knackered and very uncomfortable - old spring system with springs sticking through the mattresses 3. Games room not within the property but could be accessed outside 4. Games room stank of damp and as such unusable 5. It has been our experience that sufficient toilet rolls are supplied but not with this property - when asked where would we find spare on New Year’s Eve - admittedly after 5pm so no availability - owner explained she doesn’t supply more but will have to on this occasion - not very pleasant and we felt ripped off as we had paid a premium for a property that did not reflect that advertised 6. Property was very cleverly photographed so seemed more than it was - the dining table was tiny in a recess by the window - was too small for 4 let alone 6. If we wanted it to be used, it would have had to dragged into the middle of the room. Our view : we will be back to Shepton Mallet but never to this property - what a let down and over-priced for something where the content is an exaggeration

The Original information provided and photography was cleverly selected and presented to mislead.. The cottage was presented as far more than it was. The games room was separate from the main building and suffered with damp making it an unpleasant space. The supplies included were far more limited than supplied with any lodge or Cottage rented in the last 20 years, actually ever. The cottage was clean but poor value for money for the price, even down to insufficient toilet paper supplied for a three day stay. Also beds were very uncomfortable and were clearly past their best, The dog poo on our leave from their dog summed up the experience. We were disappointed but made the best of it for our stay. We will be back to the area but would not stay in this cottage again. It is supposed to be for five. I think not, it was small for us alone. Positive - owner was a nice lady but clearly a lot to learn about renting a cottage to fulfilling the remit and resoonsibility.

Our Stay at Leigh Holt was perfect.. Definitely one of the best places we have stayed in using Sykes Holiday Cottages. The weather was fantastic too. Kate and Alex made us feel so welcome. The place was immaculate, thoroughly home from home. The bonus was calves had been born the week before, so they were sharing the meadow with their mothers, at the bottom of the garden. We would most certainly recommend Leigh Holt to anyone who wants a cottage where they can relax and also be near to many places that Somerset has to offer. Two good pubs a few minutes away by car who dish up food near by. The Poachers Pocket, good pub food served very quickly. Also The Strode Arms who seem to be building up a business which had been neglected before, serve good quality food locally sourced, cooked to order, which was most enjoyable, need to book especially at weekends at both places.

This has to be THE cleanest holiday cottage we have ever stayed in! 10 out of 10 for all areas! It was so lovely to walk into such a place and to know that the standard was that high. It may not be important to everyone but I think all agree that there is nothing worse than feeling you have to put everything through the dishwasher before use (yes, we've had holidays like that!) It is also unusual to find somewhere that is so well equipped - TV with freeview and DVD, WiFi, dishwasher, washing machine, tumble dryer - the lot - and all in pristine condition. It was also nice to have separate (shower room, toilet) en suites to the master bedroom (not seen that before) and a very useful 'games room' with full size snooker table and table tennis (kept my husband and son happy whilst I watching boring TV!!) All in all we could not fault this lovely cottage on a farm and expressed our gratitude to the friendly, approachable hosts who were on site (attached house) should we have needed them.
