The first thing that hits you when arriving is the overall appearance, it is tired looking with paint off the windows, slabs of cobbles just left laying around and generally a bit unkept. When entering the property the smell Is overwhelming, it’s a mouldy damp smell which gets worse as you continue throughout the house so much so my older two children refused to stay and drove home. We decided to stay but the smell is just awful and we are probably going to leave today. The settee in the down stairs living room needs to be changed as it tired and smells, I would probably put a leather one in not fabric like it is. Also the other down side is the parking is only suitable for a very small car and there is no other parking as it is jammed with cars lined on the street making it difficult to get in and out. There is no privacy at all in any room as there are no blinds on the windows only curtains so you have to have them shut as people can look right in no matter where you are in the property. So if the above doesn’t bother you then on the plus side you are central for whitby!

Beautiful House in a great location for a short stay in Whitby. Extremely clean. Really comfortable beds and plenty of cutlery/crockery in the kitchen for the amount of people it houses, and some beautiful welcome gifts such as chocolate, crisps, tea/coffee, biscuits. Really nice touch! 3 bathrooms, 2 of which are en-suites and there is a downstairs toilet in addition so there was no queuing for the loo - always a bonus when there is a lot of you! They had a cot, high chair available to us at short notice which was greatly appreciated. Now for the few downsides: Photos can be deceiving, they make the front parking space look plentiful, but you will be lucky to fit 2 cars up there, we managed it but they were cm apart so an uncomfortable squeeze. The other part of our party used the street parking and received a parking fine which was less than appreciated. The twin room has no wardrobe, plenty of drawers but you don’t have anywhere to physically hang your clothes so you may need to share wardrobe space. By no means a big issue but just to make people aware so there are no surprises. The house is also stated as dog friendly, however there is no garden (which is fine because they are upfront about this) however the ‘enclosed courtyard’ has an extremely large gap under the gates that close it off and our dog managed to escape a few times so I wouldn’t say it’s the most secure for taking your furry friends. The bins were full to the brim. For a property that houses 8 people they could do with paying for an extra couple of wheelie bins so that there is ample space for waste. Lastly, you are expected to strip your own beds at the end of your stay to place in laundry bags but no laundry bags were provided, and really when you pay so much for a property you don’t expect to be doing half of the housekeeping! We’ve stayed in many properties and never had to do this before. I would recommend the property itself to people but I would be upfront about the above in the first instance.
