Great place to meet up with family (the lodge is huge yet homely), well equipped to cook up a feast using locally sourced seafood (you can buy directly from the fish warehouses on the dock in Amble) - amazing value for money. Top 5 things we enjoyed about our stay: 1) Spacious, well equipped holiday home in great location 2) Walking distance to the beach and country parks 3) Visiting Hadrian's Wall for the first time - an easy and amazing drive from the house 4) Exploring the lovely towns and villages along the coastal route up to Bamburgh - spectacular! 5) Walking up the beach to Amble and having lunch at the Fish Shack.

The cottage could not be surpassed for beauty, facilities and comfort.. Across the road is a walk in a wood. Lots of interesting places to drive to and enjoy. There are shops including a Co-op and chip shop, literally a very short walk away (less than 5 mins) The only downside for us was being on a housing estate with no nice view. Plus it was noisy with people going about their everyday lives. This does NOT stop me from highly recommending this cottage.

Lodge in a great location to visit some of Northumberlands best beaches.. Lovely clean lodge with all amenities, great size bedrooms with comfy beds. Secure garden for dogs. Have stayed in a number of cottages/lodges in the area and this one of the best.

The Cottage is so well equipped and ideally placed to suit our needs.. Near to the beaches for our dogs and so comfortable it made the awful weather bearable as it was the perfect spot to return to after a cold and wet walk along the stunning beaches

Lovely property.. Second return visit as we enjoyed our previous stay so much. We weren’t disappointed. Great facilities in the house. Friendly helpful Caretaker. Within easy walking distance of the best beach ever. Also dog friendly. Thank you.

House was again great.. Perfect for us to visit with family. Nice welcoming feel, beds made, bottle of wine and packet of biscuits which went down well. We love this house as the kids chill out upstairs and adults downstairs.

November 2018
On arrival, Saturday 10th November, we tried to adjusted the heating as it was very hot, however in doing so the hot water went off, we spent some time trying to work it out & then phoned the caretaker across the road.. a little while later he arrived telling us that we had disturbed him watching the rugby & that a part had been ordered & would arrive on the Tuesday. Tuesday evening on our return the situation had not changed, we rang him again, he had not at that time chased the plumber. It was fixed on Wednesday 14th to some degree & we were never contacted to check it was OK. The 2nd major problem was there was no Wi-Fi, the hub was flashing on & off, again I tried to resolve the problem on not being able to find the problem I again called the caretaker who told me someone would look at it the next day, I was then contacted by the owner the next day & asked to describe what was happening & then told that evening by the caretaker that this had previously been reported to BT who had sent a new hub but had sent it to the owners address in Lincolnshire & they would send it up. This problem was never fixed & we were never contacted again about it. The downstairs lounge TV was not very good & the upstairs shower pole did not work. If we had been informed of the 2 problems it would of saved us time. We were offered to use the caretakers bathroom which however kind the gesture was, we were not on a camping holiday & had elderly parents with us. We were also offered the use of the caretakers wi-fi, again a kind offer but I needed it to research for an exam but wanted to be with my family as well & did not want to spend each evening in the home of a stranger. We paid wi-fi but didn't get it & had a lot of inconveniences, we would not recommend this lodge.

The lodge was very well equipped with lots of choice for sitting and relaxing.. All the beds were really comfy (the downstairs facilities were really good for my mum who finds stairs difficult to manage). The kitchen was better equipped than most homes. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. (Food at the Widdrington Inn was excellent followed by walks on the beach at Druridge Bay).

Brilliant Property.. After reading the latest feedback I would like to give feedback for our visit to the property for the last week of September 2018. We had a lovely time. The kitchen was brilliant and my husband loved doing the cooking there. We had no problems with the Wi Fi and TVs. We used both extensively during our stay. We had plenty of hot water with only a slight problem with the thermostat on the downstairs shower. We mostly used the upstairs one instead. The gentleman who lives opposite was very helpful and gave us advice re the walk to the lovely beach. We also had a nice chat to him as we left. We would certainly consider a repeat booking in the future. I understand that the previous reviewer had problems but I wanted to balance it out with our experience.

This is a superb property with loads of space and all the facilities you could wish for. Great beaches on the doorstep. Plenty places to enjoy close at hand and suitable for all ages. Spoilt for choice in places to eat out. There can be no hesitation in recommending Jamaal Lodge. 5 stars *****

August 2018
Amazing holiday and accommodation was exactly as described and fit for our family & dogs needs.. Excellent access to all local sights and so much to explore on thus coast - on and off the beaten track. Facilities in house were top class and we cooked pretty much everyday with some lovely local produce - and of course sampled the delights of good ole Fish & Chips from Amble. Will defo book for next year and can't wait

Booked and paid in full for another cottage at first.. Then phone call to say it wasn’t available. Had to choose a different cottage. Was told a selection would be emailed but they didn’t appear. Chose myself and transferred the booking. Sykes covered the slight extra cost. Confirmation said it had been booked but I still owed the outstanding amount and if it wasn’t paid for I would lose that booking. Had to ring again and get this sorted out. Accommodation itself was to a high standard but on a developing housing estate so it looked like a building site as we approached so not exactly what we would have chosen, especially at that price. We are unlikely to return there as a result.

March 2018
Lovely house, good facilities.. Very comfortable, especially happy with the beds. Plenty of room to spread out and two fully equipped bathrooms, that as no photos, was my only worry. Nice bottle of wine and packet of biscuits were left as a welcome. A couple of slight repair issues, gap in the corner of the upstairs double room wall, couple of “unfinished” areas, that for the sake of a quick repair, would make it exceptional. Due to weather warnings, we decided to leave a day early, but would definitely consider a return visit.

March 2018
There were some lovely touches - some wine, biscuits and fresh milk but no kitchen towel (only tea towels which I use for drying crockery etc) and only one small shower towel per person.. Personally I found it awkward having to go out through a side door with the dog on a lead and going round the side of the house to the garden gate before letting her off in the garden rather than opening a door and just letting her out. I will view pictures, small print etc more closely and ask questions if I were ever to book a cottage again.

As a family we love Northumberland and this lodge was in a perfect location for us to get to the beaches , Holy Island and Alnwick.. The local beach at Druridge was new to us and as good as Bamburgh. It would be lovely to come back in the summer months and make use of the lovely veranda.

Gorgeous house perfect distance from all good beaches and days out. There is a few issues with the house its not very well cleaned, the tv is small, there is bulbs missing out of most of the lamps, curtains aren't very good at keeping light out. Very well equipped with everything a family needs for a weeks stay. We have had a fab week away

We particularly liked the location and general area. We enjoyed visiting the local towns and villages, castles and landmarks. The Lodge was so well equipped.

We booked this lodge having researched the area, despite it normally being far too big for our party of 3 + dog. Holidaying with a teenager & dog we had a good idea on what kind of accommodation we wanted and this property seemed to tick all of the boxes being advertised with internet aces (essential for teenagers) and an enclosed garden (reassuring for dog owners). Upon arrival we were more than impressed with the property and the location - being within reasonable walking distance of lovely beaches and some amenities nearby. Cannot fault the standard of property but would like to point out a couple of small issues for us: The internet speeds were slow to non existent after mid morning - no problem for us oldies that have other things to do but did prove problematic for the teenie The enclosed garden wasn't really 'enclosed'. The balustrading that is around the veranda has a huge gap, by design, within it. This continues to the part that adjoins the garden. We managed to resolve this by taking a wooden pallet out of the garage and placing it up against it but anyone with a dog with a desire to escape may find this rather problematic. Other than this we found this a fantastic property and a really good base to explore the Northumbrian coast and beaches. The really good weather we had was an added bonus.

We could not fault our holiday. The property was excellent and perfect for my Nana who is in a wheelchair as there is a ramp to get into the property. The wood flooring and spaciousness was ideal for anyone with a disability . The location was quiet , the weather was great and we visited many places that I have not been to in over 20 years. We will definitely be returning for another holiday.

We have two elderly mothers with our party and this accommodation was very good for them due to the 2 downstairs bedrooms, bathroom and living room all on the ground floor. The location was also very handy with being so close to Druridge Bay Country park, Hauxley Nature reserve, Howick Hall Gardens and Bamburgh Castle. All of these facilities were excellent for the disabled.

We recieved good service from the start. The house was well equiped, clean, comfortable, warm, and generally good all round. The gardens were nice and decent sized for the kids to play in. When we first arrived we felt like the house was in a unlikely posistion but it turned out to be a good central base. it was nice to be able have things in walking distance, such as the shop and the beach. There was ample space for a family and it also felt quite homly. The thing we liked best was the two living areas, the two batrooms and the comfortable beds. It probably would of been better if the garden had of been fenced in but it wasn't really a problem. We very much enjoyed our stay and we would love to go back again.

We took our family of 5 plus both grandparents and dog on holiday for the first time. The house was ideal especially as we could put the grandparents on the ground floor with their own bathroom. My children could use the upstairs to watch tv and play computer games which suited them at times too. The location was brilliant for exploring the coast and castles of Northumbria. We also used the newly opened Go Ape and headed to Newcastle for our daughter's graduation. The kitchen and dining area was superb for great family meals. This house had everything we needed. We will definitely be revisiting this part of England and would highly recommend this house for a wonderful family holiday.
